This past time that I actually have pictures of, we came on a Sunday around 2:30pm. We were seated right away but everything after that took forever. It was at least twenty minutes for drink orders, and I was just having a water and my boyfriend was having a beer. Then she took our actual order, and we each ordered one appetizer and one roll. A long time passed again, and she brought all our food out at one time. The food was ok. I know it is a lot of the same things, but I do like the food at the downtown location more. My wife is a real estate agent. Her and I were in town for her to show a home and got hungry so we stopped at Jays because it was close and the food seemed good. We both got sushi. She got the Philadelphia roll and I got the Goldsboro roll. Both tasted great and fresh. The salad was even good too. For our meal she got the Salmon and a I got the Jay BLT. The food was good and the ambiance was nice and easy going. The service was okay but I did find myself with an empty cup a lot. Our waitress had 4-5 tables so I do understand why it took so long for refills. Overall we enjoyed the whole experience and we will go back when we are in the area. read more

My wife and I went here for a date night and were seated really fast. The restaurant has a very nice dining room and I really love the atmosphere. The issue we had was the service. The waiter we had was extremely slow, he went missing for extremely long periods of time and one of my pet peeves is he just dropped off the check without asking if we wanted anything else. This was a date night and we were planning on continuing to drink and weren't through with our second round but he prematurely brought the check. The sushi we had was very good. Dined here for my dad's bday dinner tonight. The restaurant was spacious with nice decor. Our server was Elizabeth. We could tell she was fairly new as she didn't know the answers to some of our questions but she did her due diligence by going to ask someone. She also brought us out all of the sauces to try when I asked for a sauce to dip my seafood in. She was very patient with my parents who are older and particular about how they like things. For those of you are interested, Jay's Kitchen offers free WIFI, just connect as a guest. I ordered a salad with ranch dressing; it was amazing. It was followed by Grilled Shrimp with scrambled eggs. Jays food is as consistent as it gets. Service is fair and atmosphere is pretty solid for Goldsboro. I like this spot and will return. My only reservations for the place is the price points being a little high for this area and inconsistency with what type of table seating you may get. Quality of food is good, so I understand the price points, but many may be turned off by the fact that you may get a nice comfortable booth, or be tucked away in a private room with a hole in the middle of your table. Neither is bad for me, but it offers different environments that may suit some "dates" but not others. Ever since then, Jay's has my heart on sushi and I will forever thank them for the introduction. I've had the shrimp hibachi and it was pure perfection. Cooked beautifully and seasoned so it was packed full of flavor. The gyoza is perfectly crisp. One of my favorite go to appetizers at the restaurant. The bulgogi fries are killer! Bulgogi is one of my favorite meats and the fries crispy. The topping genious to complement the meat. The atomic roll is spicy but delicious. Goldsbro roll is 100% my favorite. It's what started my sushi love. They have so many amazing rolls for you to choose from It's best to bring a group of sushi lovers and each order a different roll the share. She was patient, kind and knowledgeable about the menu and bar. I was so pleased with her level expertise in both categories. The food I ordered was the lobster tail and scallops with rice, ginger salad asparagus and beef broth soup. The lobster tail wasn't bad! The way it was prepared is differ than what I expected. The lobster tail is taken out of the shell and cooked and then placed back in the shell and is is covered in a grainy garlic paste. It wasn't what I expected because im used to dipping my lobster in garlic butter. I The scallops weren't bad either but were a tad bit too chewy- it needed to be sautéd a little longer. worst experience ever. I would give it a negative star. I took my family that came from Texas to visit for Christmas. They arrived at 6:10PM, and I arrived at 6:28PM. A server never once came to our table. We had to get up 3 times to see if we could get anything to drink at least. We got our drinks at 7:10PM. The waitress stated that the bartender called out and she was going to take our order. She took our order, and we waited for over 30 mins, then another server brought half the food. She walked back out and I looked at her and she stated "are you missing something" yes, we are missing half the order. Which one was a pepperoni pizza that was order almost an hour before for a child. The waitress came back to the table and stated that the pizza was given to another table. 30 mins later his pizza came out and it was cheese. We stated he ordered a pepperoni pizza, 5 mins later she bought out cold pepperoni slices to put on his cheese pizza. I asked could I talked to a manager which he was behind the bar the whole time, so he saw everything that went on and never once asked did we need anything, is everything okay, nothing. Our bill was $167, and the waitress came out with the receipt and stated, "He gave you 30% off and I'm sorry I had a table down here and I was called to do your table" The whole experience was horrible, and the food was not even good.
