I have to say I haven't been to this restaurant in about six years. Last time I was there it wasn't good. It used to be one of our favorite places. So I thought since I was in the mood for a good burger, I would give it another try. The burger was tasteless. Even with a variety of condiments it didn't help. The roll was far from fresh making it hard to pick up the burger. Since it crumbled so bad, it had to be eaten with a fork. The top layer of the fries (maybe 6 fries) were gold and a decent size. The rest of the fries were brown, almost burnt and small fragments not even resembling fries. The two men cooking were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean. First of all, their food is great! Ordered the roast beef sandwich and the Black Bean Burger. They got the toppings wrong. And thing that really bothered us was the sticky tables. I noticed they weren't very busy for a Saturday early evening. I've ran several restaurants as a GM, and I hate to see restaurants struggle. This place has definitely fallen off. The quality of the food, the service, and the overall restaurant is awful. When you walk in there is a faint smell of sewage. It's extremely nauseating. Watching the people work, it appears as though nobody is trained at all. They play on their phones, and move at the speed of a snail. The food isn't cooked with much care, and wasn't very appealing at all. What happened to this place? It could certainly use a major overhaul. Should've just gone to 5 guys instead. read more

Let me tell you about this little piece of burger heaven. I love this burger shop. The burgers are always cooked beautifully and those French fries are ON POINT! The burgers are BYO so you choose whatever you want on top. Weather you want plain and simple or fully loaded, it is completely your choice. The buns are toasted beautifully and sprinkled with seasoning. Then there are the fries. Cooked wonderfully. Crispy and crunchy and whatever seasoning they put on them makes them absolutely addicting. I've never been to this place and been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and double check your order to ensure you didn't forget anything when filling out your ticket. I had some time to kill at lunch today so I decided against fast food. PT's seemed like a kind of fast food option that would take just a bit longer and offer a step up from the drive thru experience. It was all that. The young lady that waited on me was friendly and the ordering process was simple. I ordered an Old Fashioned Burger which came with fries and a drink. There wasn't a long wait time at all and the place was fairly busy. Maybe 5 minutes. The burger was hot and fresh and the seasoned fries were delicious. Great lunch today for me. We ordered & paid at 2:54 pm & didn't get out food until 3:40 pm. 8 more parties AFTER us got their food & was almost done when we had to ask about our food. The order wasn't put in. We were headed to North Topsail for a week's vacation, but gave ourselves plenty of time to stop for lunch along the way. I was driving, so my husband, who is trained well, did a Yelp search and found TJ's. He was intrigued by the limited but tasty sounding menu and the terrific reviews. This is a really good old fashioned hamburger place. You fill out a form with your menu selections, then they make your burger or chicken to order. There were five of us, and I got the 4-ounce burger with mustard, cheese, onions, lettuce, pickles and tomato. It's worth mentioning that all of the menu items come with fries, and my goodness they were good. I can tell they are homemade rather than coming out of a bag. Since my husband was driving the rest of the way, I decided to have a beer. They have a few selections on tap and I ended up getting a Sweet Water IPA. It was nice. The rest of the crew got an 8-ounce burger, which was similar to mine, but more meat, not two patties, but an 8-ounce patty so it was super juicy. One person got the grilled chicken sandwich and she said it was one of the best she's had. Chicken fingers, an order of fries and Oreo milkshake rounded out the order. Everything was between $6ish and $8. For the five of us, we spent less than $40, a bargain given the quality of the food. My daughter liked it so much she requested we stop by on the way back home, but being a good Yelper, I have to try something different. I don't ever leave reviews but this place should not have the P.T.'s name, they are far from the quality of other locations. My family wishes we didn't stick around to eat. The whole restaurant was filthy - all tables were dirty, floor was dirty with dead bugs, it smelled musty and you can't tell if the bathroom has ever been cleaned. They seemed to be very short staffed and the employees didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Please don't waste your time. read more

I've ate here multiple times and never had a bad experience. Everyone has always been friendly and nice. We always get people to come up and ask if we need refills or need anything. I always get the burger and it's cooked perfectly every single time. I was surprised to read where people said they got small burnt burgers because I've literally never had that experience. They've always been incredibly juicy and fill up the entire bun. In the 50 plus times I've been here, not once have they ever messed up more order or ruined my food. I love that this place gives a military discount and makes HOMEMADE French fries. The seasoning they use of the fries is really good as well. They don't taste like traditional salt and pepper. While working in Goldsboro, I stopped in the shopping center for lunch. Was about to go to the Pizza Hut/ Wing House but I happened to look at the other end of the line of stores and saw PT's Grille. thinking it was a local business, I decided to give it a try. At the counter, you fill out an order form that looks like the ones used at Raleigh's famous Char-Grill. I ordered the olde fashioned burger, with my preferred toppings. That's a nice feature of filling out an order form, as you check on the form the toppings you prefer. With the order comes fries and a drink. Unlike the Raleigh Char Grill, there is a seating area and they will bring the order to your table. Outside seating is also available. Enjoyed the flavor of the burger, and the hand cut fries were great, Several employees came by and checked on me to see if I need drink refills or how I enjoyed the meal. Glad I found this place. Looking forward to visiting again and trying some of the other menu items. read more

A neighboring table had the same issue despite that party staggering their order & it being not busy when we & the other party placed our orders. We opened the door to check, and the girl at the front without prompting said, "yes, we're open." Clearly this isn't the first time someone has wondered. The burger tasted like a frozen patty, it was over cooked and under seasoned. The 4oz patty was just an 8 oz burger patty cut down the middle-didn't even fit the food lion bun it was on. The bun was dry, and grilled with some grease with an unpleasant aftertaste to them from the burnt residue on their grill. Fries are fresh cut and the only redeeming quality of this place. The workers are super pleasant. This place was unique! You fill out your own sheet for your meal. While you are filling that out, they are asking you what you want to drink. Your drink is ready before you even finish filling out your sheet. You go sit down and they bring your food out to you, inside, outside or to go. Ate here while visiting North Carolina. The food was good, has a home made feel to it, but not gourmet in any way. When you walk in you circle what you want to order from a paper menu. They welcome specialty orders, which is nice. The place was clean and well kept. The staff was pretty young, but well trained, nice, and very welcoming. We're from California and visiting my son in Goldsboro. We came in here on a whim because the deli counter at the Harris Teeter (I think that's the name) doesn't make a sandwich with regular bread, only French rolls. So, P.T.'s was a shot in the dark for us. Well, the service was really good. Everyone was very friendly and polite. The order was delivered to our table quickly and tasted fresh and good. I am giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star rating because the fries were slighted over salted and the walls had a few splashes and spots that should be cleaned. Visited today for lunch. They were not extremely busy. We completed our order and submitted it to the waitress who fixed our drinks.
