Has a staff member giving out peoples phone numbers telling the late night customers to call and harass them. Please get rid of the childish behavior and hire competent staff. I don't typically write reviews on "fast food" type places, but I have seen these Cook Out places in the south and finally decided to stop in and give them a try while on business in the area. I was pretty surprised with the value of the food. I got the double cheese burger with fries and fried cheese. The cheese bites were one of the best I've had at a fast food joint. The burger was pretty good as well, had a nice charcoal taste. The place was empty as it looks like most people use the drive thru, but overall a pretty decent experience. On July 1, 2024, at around 10:48 pm. My husband went to Cook Out to purchase food for himself and our son. The order was a chicken strip tray w/ nuggets and fries for my husband. Cheddar burger with (w/) just cheese and fries for our son. The total cost was fifteen fifty-four (15.54). My husband arrived home w/ their food. My husband had no complaints about his food, but my son came into my room and stated for me to call Cookout. I asked him why, and he showed me his burger. Upon getting a closer look. My son had a wire, hair pin, etc. cooked into his burger with a good amount protruding from it. I immediately went to call Cookout to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, both numbers 18665470011 (answering machine) and 9192882981 (constantly rings) no one answer. My husband and I left to go back to Cook Out. Once we arrived, the lines were long per usual, and the lobby was closed. So I got out of the car and knocked on the glass door. The employees saw me, but they carried on w/ what they were doing. After waiting for about 10 minutes w/ no help, I asked a customer at the drive-through window to ask them if they could get me a Manger. The employee looked out the window and said the lobby was closed. I said that I was aware of that and needed to speak with a manager. I stood there for about 5 minutes w/ no help. I asked the customer if he minded me stepping in between his car and the window so I could get assistance, and he replied, sure. I spoke to the girl at the window. Letting her know my problem. Still no manager. The customer left. I'm in front of the window now. I asked the guy there if I could speak to a manager. He replied," I am a manager." I told him how my husband had purchased the food and my son was about to eat the sandwich until he saw the wire. I showed him the sandwich. He looked at the sandwich and replied, "Oh my, that's a part of our fryer basket." I asked him well how it got embedded into the burger of my son sandwich, cooked, and didn't no one see this. He replied he didn't know. His attitude was snappy, and he was very nonchalant. I told him that I would like a refund. He refunded me the five dollars and thirty-five cents ($5.35). Had his attitude been a little more concerning, and he would've acted with a little more compassion, this review wouldn't have been made. This could've gone totally different had this sandwich been for my three year old granddaughter or someone else's small child. Good Customer Service is always important, and this store lacked it tonight. read more

Burger was pretty good but chicken strips tasted like they where cooked is the same grease as onion rings. It wasn't horrible but just had a weird taste. Fries bacon wrap and cheese bites where pretty tasty. There shake took the win. read more

One customer asked where they should leave their trash and one of the workers said leave your trash on the table you were eating at. None of the tables were wiped down. My first experience at this Cookout was a nightmare. From an order taker with an attitude to under portioned cold sides, they should seriously reconsider the staff at this location. The food is quite good. The service is atrocious. I ordered a meal and two quesadillas, one cheese, one cheeseburger. Upon arriving at my location to enjoy the cheeseburger quesadilla, I discovered it was chicken. I had to return to the restaurant. I went to drive in and stated the problem. I was told to drive up to window. I showed the girl at the window the chicken quesadilla. She hollered to someone in the restaurant. I told her for my inconvenience I was taking the wrong item to my dog to keep it from being throw away. I was told I would not get the right item until I gave up the wrong one. I gave it back. I never got an apology or was not compensated for me having to return to get the right item. This is strike 2 for this location. I haven't decided if they get another chance. I called the corporate office to share my experience but I only get a machine to leave a message. It's a shame that the food is good but the service is definitely not customer friendly. read more

This is the only Cook-Out I know of between Raleigh and the beach. Cook-Out would clean up if located in New Bern (hint-hint!). I am slightly (only slightly) disappointed because it seems like their chicken pieces in sandwiches have shrunk a little. The lettuce was slightly less than bulky on the sandwich (I like a nice lettuce CRUNCH! - Call me crazy). Please don't decline! You guys have such a good thing going! It is true the milkshakes are pretty good and their burgers are pretty good too. The cheeseburger I got was worth the lil money I paid for it. everything else was ok. My son really liked the chopped BbQ. I did not like it at all. I really liked the hush puppies he did not like them at all. We both agreed that the fries were not our favorite. Too limp and soggy. We like our fries crispy. As far as the place goes. Nothing fancy and really i think the service line needs some help. When we went in there was a rush and orders were getting mixed up. There should be a definitive separation between order and pickup because as it is now there's just a constant crowd of people at the counter. People are bumping into each other and hard for the people to get in, out, and around. Looked super crowded in the back work area too. There seems to be a lot of wasted space in the seating area. I normally am a big fan of Cook Out, but I have been highly disappointed with their response to COVID. At the Goldsboro restaurant, I saw at the drive thru that every single employee in the kitchen was wearing their masks like chin guards. None was covering their noses and some did not even cover their mouths. This was on 8/6/20. I have seen similar behavior at other locations, so I can only assume that corporate does not really take the COVID precautions seriously. While I am normally a huge fan of their food and milkshakes, I can do without them until the virus threat has passed. There are plenty of other restaurants that value their customers' health sufficiently to ensure that employees handling customers' food take proper health precautions. read more

This Cook Out is so inconsistent!!! It seem to taste the best late at night, but most of the time they give you lukewarm food or burnt food. I just wasted $5.60. The tea was the best thing about the meal tonight. At least they used more than one bag this time and it did not taste like sugar water. Smh... I should have gone to Zaxby's and paid a little more, at least it would have been hot. I think this is the last time I am disappointed by this location. I don't normally review fast food joints but this place is pretty legit and as far as I know its only in North Carolina. They have the cookout tray where you can get one main item (usually a chicken sandwhich or burger but they also have footlong hotdogs that are awesome..note: get it cookout style!) and two side items which range from chicken nuggets to chicken tenders and finally a drink..either soda or water all for around $6! The chicken sandwhiches are usually juicy so no need to worry about that. A true highlight of this place is the shakes...you can get a milkshake with something like 35 flavors or so and mix in as many as you want! I have made some epic shake creations with a plethora of flavors mixing from cookies and creme and cookie dough to reese's pieces and various fruits. They are also open late night to fulfill your hunger needs. Oh and did I mention it's dirt cheap! read more

This is a late review but ate here several times while staying with my daughter while she had her baby a year and a half ago. I loved the burgers & also their pulled pork. Food was surprisingly cheap for serving sizes & quality. Husband & I took the kids there one afternoon (pre-delivery) and I think it came in under $20 for 4 of us! I was shocked! Everything tasted fresh. I really wish we had these out here in CA! Better than In & Out!! Loved that they had a drive thru since we were so busy going back and forth from the hospital. Not used to being able to get decent food at a drive thru. Also was helpful that they were open really late (1am if I remember right) Got my daughter a burger to take back to the hospital super late one night. read more

Not real happy overall with my experience tonight. First off, pulled into the dual drive through and turned my truck off as it has dual exhaust and is a little loud. The truck beside me was extremely loud, and the kid taking the order got an attitude with me about turning my truck off when it wasn't mine to begin with. When he spoke, all I could hear in the background was people yelling (inside he restaurant). Then when I got to the window the girl told me that they couldn't hear me, again I explained that it was not my vehicle but the one beside me, and I also explained my distaste for the young mans attitude that was taking my order, and didn't appreciate being called "Bruh", "dog", and "dude"... her reply was "aww, that sucks!" Really???? The best thing Cook Out can do for themselves is get some adult supervision in house and calm things down a bit! read more

I asked the cashier if they could turn the music down a little and she said she would ask the manager. She never left her counter to talk with anyone. I will not be back there anymore.
