It's actually embarrassing how easy it is to put together a soup, salad, and sandwhich and you still can't get it right. Waited 20 minutes for my Togo while 5 workers talked ab a banana instead of doing anything (there were 5 ppl in the dining area, the workers were just BSing) and then I get home after a 12 hour shift and the order is just so wrong. Missing a sandwhich (that was part of a pick two) and got a cup of chicken noodle instead of a BOWL of broccoli cheddar?? Saturday night. Six o'clock. Once, the place would have been hopping. But three or four tables were all they had. Still, the befuddled staff couldn't handle it. I spent six minutes, third in the lineup. as the willing but hapless lad behind the cash register repeatedly muffed a really simple order from the lady first in line. The family in front of me, frustrated, simply gave up and left. All this went on as a man with a MANAGER badge stood by at an adjacent cash register with green sheets in hand, doing things the green sheets told him to do. It was clear his badge ought, as it did, to have read MANAGER and not, say, LEADER. I ordered two bagels, sliced and toasted. Hapless Lad explained that he'd have to go find his (now disappeared) manager and get him to operate the slicer and toaster, the lad being, he said, too young, by regulation, to operate them. When these were brought to our table some twelve minutes later, they were vaguely warmer than room temperature and not at all different in colour from a completely untoasted bagel. Much, I noted was shabby about the place. Restroom cleanliness isn't sharp enough. Coffee supplies weren't kept full. Tables were cleared but not cleaned. Customer service is shabby, too. I'm there once a week to see a client. I issue planty in the realm of "Please," "Thank you," and "You're welcome," always with smiles and pleasantries. Rarely indeed do I hear any of these back. Never does a cashier ASK for money. No, all one gets is the simple demand: "Eight fifty-three." Panera's food is now famously flat, lifeless, tasteless. I'd ignore that, and find something on their menu I liked, if only their service had some welcoming spark. But there's nothing there, no special reason to go there. I'm a laptopper. I dine in restaurants and coffee shops all week long. I once spent a couple of hundred a month in this Panera alone. Now, I'm elsewhere. It's not that Panera Germantown is horrible. No, they're something more contemptible than that. Congratulations, Panera: You have perfected the art of mediocrity. read more

the food is okay if the order is correct and not cold. if the girl Cierra had better customer service it be a lot better environment. the last time I came she had a horrible attitude and kept getting on her phone with her boyfriend arguing about where he was, so unprofessional while taking an order. I didn't see her wash her hands after leaving the restroom as well as not wearing a hair net and witnessing her hair falling into food and she just pulled it out and proceeded with the order!!!! 3:10 pm Wednesday Sept 13. I see why this location is rated so low. I was waiting in line and right after the mgr took the person's order in front of me she walked off. For awhile. Then when she finally came back, I was nice about it even though I found it rude and told her it was ok. I then told her I Just joined the sipper club and came in for something to drink. When asked about coffee she told me I could get the dark roast or decaf right away. She handed me my cup and I found out my choice was empty, which if she was watching what was going on in her restaurant she would have known. They were not busy in the least. She walked off again so had to wait awhile to let her know they were out and to find out they were brewing fresh coffee in all flavors unbeknownst to me after being done rest to old coffee. She leaves again immediately so I was left waiting and wondering what was up for awhile again because the Sandy haired mgr whose a runner had run off once again. When she came back she acted like I just needed to be patient so I sat down and waited again the amount of time she told me to wait after already waiting for awhile. I had a Drs appt to be at so after being there for awhile to grab a cup of coffee at a non busy time I was losing my patience. She finally came back out and once again told me it would be 3-5 min. I sat and waited for awhile and it never came out. I complained to the mgr about the experience and she said and I quote, "well I could have just let you have cold coffee." Whaaaat? To be honest that's absolutely what she offered me without telling me well before I found out they were in the process of brewing fresh. I found that disrespectful and rude as well as disingenuous. During this conversation I told her I had just come in for something to drink before heading to a drs appt. I said I have things to do. I have to get to my Drs appt. I thought I had plenty of time to come in, sit and drink my coffee peacefully, then head around the corner to the drs office. She then proceeded to tell me she was a busy person too. Again, whaaat? Am I supposed to sit around and wait on this lady to run back and forth when she should be waiting on customers and explaining what's going on. Goodness. Could she have been any ruder. My time is approximate but look through your video footage for a lady with a long sleeve black and white striped shirt and jeans on. You will see why a customer would be frustrated. This location is very convenient to the outpatient hospital next door. I have always wanted to stop, but never had time. Had a gift card yesterday. It was pretty sticky, considering it wasn't busy and only one table was occupied. Flies everywhere. The cashier was super friendly. I'm assuming she was new bc she couldn't give me her personal opinion on some menu items, but she did say if they were best sellers. I ordered the Turkey sandwich, no spicy mustard. She repeated it back to me, but maybe forgot to type it in bc it wasn't on my receipt and the cooks prepared it wrong. I asked for wheat and was assured they had wheat. I got white whole grain. The training mgr needs to inform the staff that they are not the same. She offered sliced apples and I happily accepted bc that is a nice change from salty chips. Had my taste buds set on some crisp apples slices. Went to the pickup counter and had to stand and listen to the food prep ladies talk about my apple selection in my face. "Who wants sliced apples?" "Are they supposed to go ON the sandwich?" "Why would somebody order SLICED apples?" Then one finally looks at me and asks my name. I said my name and informed her I wanted the sliced apples. As I'm waiting, I notice the receipt offers a "free treat" if your order is wrong. After they remake my sandwich, I asked about the free item. They sent me back to the first line. No problem. Then the same cashier has no idea what that means so she gets the mgr. He comes out to offer a free pastry of my choice. Chocolate chip cookie! The Turkey sandwich was your basic deli meat sandwich. Very disappointed, as the new Chef Chicken Sandwich on a brioche bun was just plain blah. ( part of my Pick 2 selected, the other was Tomato Soup.) For the price of this, which was on a dry bun, with next to nothing dressing and a few wimpy sprigs of green lettuce, it was a dud. The cheese crisps that fell out of it were the size of my index fingernail. The bread that accompanied the soup was also dry. I approached the manager and said it was not good at all, and he actually said there had been other complaints. I had hoped he would've at least asked if he could offer something else, but instead, he just shrugged when I said it wasn't very good. When my order was called, the girl said the doup container was in a carry out size because they rsn out if the standard. Seriously? Point is, this location had always been my go to, but Im beginning to question Panera's quality and customer service now. One of the worst Panera's out there. Every single time I have been, there's been a mess up with my order. Either they have forgotten to give me something or they just flat out didn't get the order right. I definitely wouldn't trust them if you want to alter your order or substitute something for something else because they'll most likely just give you the default. For the amount they charge, the food should be a lot better and they should give you a good bit more. For the type of food they offer, a better choice is maybe McAlister's, BUT definitely not the Germantown location (it is extremely bad). It is extremely busy at the time but not once have we had to hunt for a praking spot or a place to sit. They have clean tables and everything on stock. I have eaten at this location several times. Most of the times the service has been at best slow, today was one of the worse. Only three people in line when I arrived. Cashiers as slow as ever. No pagers given out today, just had to listen to them call out names, which if you're sitting where I was, by the windows, you can't hear. Anyways after 10 long minutes I walked up to the counter and asked why my order was taking so long today. The man ( who identified himself as the manager on duty ) said there were a large number of "Rapid Order" that just came in and they came first. Really?? So all of us herein the lobby that waited to order are second rate? Rapid Orders come before all of us that were here first and waiting?? Poor way to handle customers that are here waiting. And by the way my soup was lukewarm. The Memphis store on Poplar is sooooo much better. Can't understand why this one continues to miss the mark. read more

I had a soup, a larger sandwich and a water. Hers cost 9.58, mine cost 11.88. She was offered a pastry for .99, but I couldn't have one because I had water ISO a drink. Seating is small and cramped. I used curbside ordering due to Covid-19, and the service was nice and brief. But when I got home, I noticed my Green Goddess "half salad" was not even a half. I also ordered extra avocado, and there was barely ANY in the salad. I wouldn't be too upset if I didn't pay extra for said avocado. But I think it's ridiculous to charge extra and not receive it. I ordered the pick two - tomato soup and grilled cheese half sandwich to go. The service was swift, courteous, everyone had headgear on, and my food including the baguette was hot!!! Third time either myself or person with me gets diarrhea/gas pains after eating at this particular Panera Bread. While most people think it is the food that gives them the poison, it is 99.9% of the time the food handlers (not doing good handwashing after using the restroom or contamination of surfaces). Clean up your restaurant and hire employees that care about cleanliness. read more

I order rapid pick up from here frequently. The past few times my order hasn't been up to standard. My sandwich had nasty old wilting lettuce for one order, I had to stand around and wait 20 minutes for the next, and this last time my chips weren't included.
