    Smokehouse bbq chicken sandwich
    Susan J.

I hardly go to Panera. However, it's 3pm and I'm starving as I'm waiting for my mom to get discharged. Disappointed with my nearly $8 entree of a tiny quarter piece of roast chicken with a side of roast potatoes at Southside Dining, I decided to give Panera a try. I ordered the value duet of 1/2 sandwich of smokehouse bbq chicken sandwich with a side of tomato soup. It was surprisingly delicious and hit the spot! Granted, the sandwich needed some extra bbq sauce, but it was tasty. I should have gotten chips or an apple for the side (keep in mind that a piece of baguette is your standby side if you don't change it). So, for $5.99, this late lunch was well worth it. Also, it took less than 5 minutes for my rapid pick up to be ready. Will I be back here again? Yes, if only I had to be at Fairfax Hospital...

This Panera is located in the Inova Fairfax Hospital near Labor and Delivery. I had several visits to Panera while recovering from childbirth. I had a free trial of the coffee/tea subscription, which allows you to get a coffee (hot or iced) or tea every 2 hours. This was so convenient and I enjoyed the variety of options and ease of redeeming (mobile app for rapid pickup, kiosk in Panera, or via cashier). My husband and I also ordered dinner one night when we were tired of hospital food but didn't feel like takeout. I ordered the strawberry poppyseed salad without mandarin oranges and with extra strawberries and my husband ordered a Greek salad with chicken. My salad was a great portion size (and I have a big appetite) and the strawberries were very fresh! Our only complaint was that the bread side sizes were inconsistent (one piece was pretty tiny) and a little stale, though we did order late in the day. The biggest perk is that this location is open 7a-12a!

April 2019 I was going to stay with my aunt overnight and had to have dinner at the hospital. I checked out the cafeteria and I didn't see anything that I like. I asked around and I was told that there is a Panera in the hospital facility. I was so happy since Panera is my favorite restaurant. In contrary to the previous reviews I had no problem with the service team. In fact the cashier helped me apply for my panera card. My old panera card was not working. Breakfast I came back and they gave me my free dessert.

I'm thinking that many people who come here know already what they want, because even before we cracked open our menus, the server was immediately at our table expecting us to place our order. When we told her we weren't ready yet, she left, but came back less than a minute later and then stood there waiting for us to place our order. So I ordered the Sullangtang, which is bone broth with brisket and noodles. JP ordered the Yukgaejang, a spicy red broth with veggies and flank steak. We also ordered the fried dumplings. I don't know if the fried dumplings were vegetable or pork, but they were very good, made even better with a delicious dipping sauce. As hoped, banchan was served with our meal, but was just cubes of daikon radish (kkakdugi) and kimchi. The kkakdugi and kimchi were fresh and tasty. Even if the Sullantang recipe is traditional, I was disappointed. The broth was thin and very bland. However, I was able to jazz it up and make it into a pretty good soup by adding spoonfuls of the Yukgaejang broth and the fried dumpling sauce, plus salt and pepper. The Yukgaejang, topped with crispy noodles, was the better of the two soups. It had a lively flavor and as billed on the menu, was indeed spicy. The menu is limited, almost exclusively vegetable and beef dishes, but there is a seafood pancake and whelk (mollusk) dish. No chicken or pork dishes. Overall, our experience was decent and we would certainly consider returning. Shin Chon has plenty of off-street parking.

It has become the definitive home base for several of my local groups, and for good reason. The "No Agenda - Just Coffee" Crowd Since October 2025, this has been the quarterly meeting point for a group I help organize (2 entire meetings so far!). We bring together a mix of IT-centric CxOs, startup founders, innovators, govtech, thought leaders, and industry insiders. The beauty of the space is that it handles the "no structure, no rules" vibe perfectly. We show up, grab pastries, and just hang out. It's a low-key break from the grind, and the staff handles the morning rush with impressive efficiency. The Sunday Morning Tactical Post-Game Every Sunday at 6:30am, Northside serves as the rally point for our F3 The Capital workout group. We split up--ruckers head one way, runners another--and we all converge back at the shop by 7:30am. There is nothing quite like hitting the patio after a solid session for coffee, tea, and a high-quality breakfast. The Menu and My Personal "Hack" I've been significantly more health-conscious this year, so I generally keep the order lean. My go-to is a standard drip or an Americano with exactly one pump of vanilla. If you are looking for a meal, the avocado toast and poached egg sandwiches are objectively excellent. However, if you want the best thing on the menu, order the cheddar chive scone and ask them to heat it in the oven. It is a game-changer. The Vibe It has a genuine neighborhood feel. You'll see a broad spectrum of people--from tech folks on laptops to workout groups and families. It even transitions into a great bar scene in the evenings. It's consistent, high-quality, and remains my top recommendation in Falls Church.

Despite an unassuming exterior, the atmosphere inside is almost magical with beautiful Korean decor and charming scripted wallpaper. Our waiter kindly reviewed the menu with us and made some recommendations when we let him know we were first-time visitors (and half of us were newer to Korean food), and we were all able to make choices we were very happy with. I chose the combination (beef, mussels, and shrimp) tofu soup, mild spicy, and was delighted with the flavor profile and consistency. To me, this was so perfectly flavored and comforting that the meat and seafood weren't even needed. Next time, I'd be content trying the mushroom soup! Our table also split a pancake with pork, which was also delicious. The pancake arrived after our main dishes, and I wish it had arrived first as some of us in the party were too full to enjoy it. Everyone else in our group ordered bulgogi, and those that did said it was delicious as well. My husband, who cooks bulgogi, was thrilled with it, and our friends who hadn't ventured further than Trader Joe's bulgogi were enchanted with the real thing. Overall, great experience and great prices for an absolutely delicious meal. I hope to come back and try more dishes!

The particular soup is soon dubu, which is silken or soft tofu stew. And it was a great flavorful soup. I went with medium heat which was good for me. Enough to have spice without overpowering. We went around 2p on a Saturday, and while busy it was not crowded. We had no wait. The small parking lot can get full, but a sign says you can park at the church parking lot across the street. Wooden tables all around in what is a much bigger space than you would expect from what you see on the outside. There are bigger combos for groups, or individual combos if you want the stew plus a protein (bulgogi, kalbi, jeyuk (spicy pork), etc). We each got a combo and split everything except our soups. We got kalbi and jeyuk. We also ordered a small kimchi pancake as appetizer. I will say the soup is great. Everything else, is just ok. The banchan offered 4 small dishes: traditional cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, vinegary sliced radish, and sauteed bean sprouts. All were just ok, nothing special, and wish there were more banchans. The kimchi pancake was slightly overcooked, but nothing crazy. The kalbi was sliced very thin, and had good flavor. The jeyuk had good flavor. But quantity was not a lot for the kalbi or jeyuk. We ate well for a nice lunch for two. But it's overpriced. We did order a lot for a lunch, but we didn't get an unbelievable amount. And it came to $92.92 before tip for 2 people. I would probably rate 3.5 given the price level, but I'll round to 4. You can get a $15 lunch combo during the week. Or $18 individual combo and be perfectly fine. So maybe don't go crazy like we did.

You can choose between thick and thin for your noodle soups and I honestly like both even tho I usually like thick noodles. Their soups are nice and brothy, not too rich which I like. On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

Our server seemed a bit impatient and abrupt when taking our order (we asked how many spring rolls come in each order, and added beef meatballs to one of our pho orders), but we were mainly there for the food. The space itself is roomy, casual and comfortable, with tables spaced and seated far enough apart to not feel crowded. We started with the pork and taro spring rolls, which came out hot, cut in half, and impressively crispy! (Just as a heads up so you don't get scolded like we did - the pork and taro spring rolls come with two per order, and the price for both is a great deal compared to most pho establishments!) For our mains, we ordered three pho bowls and one dry noodle dish. The pho arrived warm, and adding bean sprouts cooled it down further rather than cooking them through. The dry noodle dish, on the other hand, was excellent in flavor, though also not very hot - likely due to the fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber) mixed in. Overall, a solid, filling meal, even if the service and the temperature of the food could be improved. We've been eating this sauce for over a decade and it never gets old. If you love bold, authentic flavors, this alone is worth the visit. Consistently friendly and attentive staff - over all these years, the service has remained excellent.
