Needed to do some work midday, and I thought to myself why not go to Panera. This way I can grab something to eat and I can be productive and do my work at the same time. Walking in the restaurant was very clean and organized. There are kiosks that you can place your order with or you can go to the counter and place your order as well. Customer service was great. Everyone I encountered was friendly. My food came up rather quickly. And I was able to find a table where there was an outlet so that I can plug up my laptop and do my work. I placed the order for delivery to a family who just lost a family member. Brandon was kind and took every detail to heart, even suggesting options. This used the be the best business meeting location in the area. It's roomy used to be clean and service was great... that was over a decade ago. It's sad to see so many young adults standing around doing nothing but there's dirty dishes all over the restaurant. We stopped here for a lunch during Saturday errand running. We were both very happy with our Chose 2 option. I had a nice size bowl of clam chowder with a baguette. My half sandwich was a steak and white cheddar panini. Excellent. I don't like horseradish and I didn't notice that on the sandwich description it included that but the sandwich was really good. On the Chose 2 option, you have the choice of adding a bakery item for an additional $1.00. Oh, yes, thank you. I got a pecan pastry and it was delicious. I liked the idea of the kiosks that you can go up to place your order, pay for it and even take your blinking order pager. We used a regular cashier since we haven't been to Panera before. I was craving Panera breakfast and knew I had to eat something before getting ready to attend a wedding. In usual Chicago fashion, it began to rain as I searched for a spot in the cramped, small parking lot. This location is smaller than most because it is crowded by other, larger businesses in the strip mall. Anyways, I walked in and was surprised by the set up. Tables to your left, kiosks to your right, and you'll find the cashier (and long line) just past the kiosks. I was going to try to wait in line but lost my patience and decided to just order on the kiosk. Payment with a giftcard was simple enough. I had enough time to use the restroom (located in the very back!) and also people watch and walk around before my to-go order was ready. I ordered their steel cut oatmeal with strawberries and pecans and had a strawberry and banana smoothie to wash it down. I'm not complaining about the portion size as I'm quite content. I was famished following a Yelp UYE Boxing/TRX event! I'm kiosk-challenged, so ordered at the register: a Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich (whole) and a cup of Broccoli Cheddar soup. But.. wait.. I think I got TWO whole sandwiches. What?! I mean, I'm definitely not complaining; just the opposite in fact! This was the first time I had been to this particular Panera Bread. We stopped in on a Friday evening, well past the dinner hour. I attempted to order the black bean soup, that was on the overhead menu, from the kiosk, but no luck. I went up to the counter and the cashier told me "that is a seasonal item. We are out of that item." (Side note: isn't fall THE season for soup?) The cashier next to him said, "No we aren't" but he had no idea how to pull it up on the cash register. A woman working the lobby said, "We've been out of black bean for a week." Yet another cashier said, "No we aren't. We bought several cases. We have lots of black bean soup base." As it turned out they DID have the soup, but to say the least I was amazed at the lack of communication between the staff and management regarding what exactly they have available for sale. THE BURBS, THE PEEPS, THE CLEAN FOOD My husband works in Lombard, IL so we decided to hit up this particular Panera Bread for lunch in the 'Burbs. It's a whole different world out here with the peeps. Don't get me started on their driving either. But I digress, so let's get down to the details. I like eating at PB, because the food is healthy and it is clean eating. I ordered the Asian sesame chicken breast salad which was a perfect salad for summer. The dressing was light and very tasty. There were ample slivers of almonds and plenty of chicken breast. I got this particular salad because it is very low in calories, under 400, and this salad always hits the spot. I highly recommend this salad. My husband had the caesar salad with chicken breast. He had a bag of chips. I gave him my apple for his afternoon break. Food portions are perfect. Service was prompt. Both salads came to $14 and change. We only had water to drink. No pastries. No dessert. An elderly gentleman (a Panera Bread employee) walked by and noticed my husband finished his salad. He cleared my husband's side of the table. He also noticed my husband was drinking water and offered to fill up his cup of H2O. WE HAVE NEVER EVER had this happen at a Panera Bread before. I give this gentleman 5 stars (with lots of sparkling glitter). Everyone knows what a Panera bread salad looks like so I'm not posting pictures of our salads. Plus, I promised my husband I would not bring my phone into the restaurant. LOL! The layout for this Panera Bread was a bit odd. There were people of all ages eating here on Monday afternoon. There were several 40 and 50 something working on their laptops. Service was very friendly and welcoming. We sat close to the large windows to enjoy the beautiful, sunny, natural light streaming through the windows. People were having conversations, but not loud enough that you could hear the next person's conversation. This PB is surprisingly quiet. If you're looking to study for a test or finish up some last-minute work this may be a good spot to hit up. I would definitely return to this Panera Bread again. When i was cleaning the floor there was an inch of old grease layered on it from who knows how long ago. I love Panera, especially when I'm traveling. It's consistent and delicious. This location was great. I walked in and ordered my meal on the touch screens. By the way, their screen pair with your own personal rewards account so it can email you the receipts and you don't have to type in extra information or spend too much more time in that activity. I got my cup at the touch screen, filled my beverage and sat down to wait until they brought my meal. It was delicious as always. Meanwhile, the floor worker was super pleasant. I was there during a busy lunch rush, but his calm and pleasant demeanor was soothing. This is a touch higher than most Panera's I have visited. This Panera is sub-par. They definitely skimp on portion size, and service could be better. I ordered a you-pick-two with a Greek salad and turkey sandwich. When they brought my salad (which I have ordered many times from many Paneras), it was very small. It was like a salad for ants! When I asked if I could have more leaves, the girl said no, that the size was already measured out. This made no sense to me as I know they don't measure out the salad like they do meat and cheese in slices. My $5.29 salad looked like a $2 salad. Not sure what is going on with this location but tonight was an utter dumpster fire. The food came out fast enough and we ate outside at 7:30pm. I ordered a small chile ranch chicken salad. It had rotten lettuce in it, the Avocado and chicken had a frozen - in - the - freezer mouth feel. The dressing container was nearly half full, not enough... The French bread was hard as a rock. My husband's food was OK. Our whole meal cost $20-- and for what??! Arrrrggghhh! To top it all off there where two muscle cars parked out front of Panera/ Harold's Chicken blasting R&B shakingly loud on top of music being pumped out of overhead speakers from Panera No one from any business gave a crap. This Panera is pretty lame. It's way smaller than most of the other restaurants because it's in a strip mall instead of standing alone so it always feels crowded and insanely busy. The parking situation here sucks because the lot is shared with a bunch of other stores (including a huge Best Buy) and it's always crowded. I concur that it seems this Panera is also skimpier than the other locations nearby. It seems like they never fill the soup cups all the way and they often forget sandwich toppings. This place is always busy and crowded and I just really hate coming here. The only saving grace: the pre-order and pickup system they have now. If you just order online you can run in and pick up your waiting order so you don't have to interact with anyone. They even have special parking spaces now for the pickups - no standing more than 10 minutes. That system is this Panera's only saving grace. read more

The combination of a good sandwich, and warm hearty soup makes my taste buds do a happy dance. Panera would be the Disney World of soups and sandwiches, and this is one of my favorite Panera locations. The better half works in DG so I make it a point to stop by here if I'm in the area. My favorite is when they have cream of chicken and wild rice. Did you say, "You pick 2?" Why yes please, and make the half sandwich an Italian with errythannng! It also helps that they have some kick butt Wi-Fi, so you can often find peeps with their faces in their laptops and devices while scarfing down some grub. I love that they bring the food to you now, that was a nice touch by Panera. I don't even remember when they started doing that, but I love the extra customer service. My husband and I popped in here in the middle of our "find the perfect lamps quest." We ordered two bottle of water, a self serve diet Pepsi and a frozen lemonade. (We like beverages - lamp shopping is hard work!) After the gal s l o w l y made a coffee drink for someone else, she proceeded to make my frozen lemonade. When she had it all ready and called me up, her coworker remarked , "She ordered a frozen lemonade not strawberry lemonade." At this point, we found a table to sit at. (This is why smart phones were invented; we were both able to amuse ourselves.) Finally, 15 minutes after placing our order, the 4 beverages were ready and we left. Once we were going south on 355 I tasted my frozen lemonade or as I called it, "Non Flavored Slushy." Yep, she had apparently gotten distracted and perhaps had put in one teaspoon of the lemonade mix. At the most. Sigh. 4 beverages, one involved handing over a cup, the other two were bottled. The coffee is brewed to perfection and satisfies any morning's need for a caffeine buzz. It can get pretty crowded around lunch time so plan your hunger around that. When Panera first came onto the scene I was super excited. It was about as close as you were going to get for gourmet food at fast food speed. But I'm just not impressed anymore. The food is still pretty much the same, but the service at all locations has fallen short time and time again. My co-worker and I show up here infrequently, maybe every two weeks or so, and it's ridiculously slow. Not only that, but the orders have either come out wrong or not together. The last time took the cake. I stood around for-ev-er and my grilled cheese showed up, but my macaroni was missing. The woman calling out the orders asked if I would like to sit down and come back when the rest of my order was called. I said, "Not really... But I will." These are not complicated orders. It's fricken mac n cheese. Shouldn't it be ready? And how about scooping me up a bowl since you forgot it instead of moving on to the next customer's order and making me wait until you can get to it. Common sense... not so common. After that experience I had to seriously question my mental state for being so willing to fork over FIFTEEN DOLLARS for a small bowl of macaroni (it's really good, but not worth the price) and bland grilled cheese. They had not 1, not 2, but 3 slices of what looked like cheddar. I couldn't tell you, because it had no flavor. I could make a better, cheaper meal at home with Velveta and Kraft Singles. read more
