We used to eat at this location, and at least three other locations often! It was great for a quick bite clean, nice staff, and everything usually tasted fresh. My last visit I ordered an extra salad for my lunch the next day. I went directly home and refrigerated the second salad, The next day, I tossed the salad to freshen it up and was confused at my first couple of bites. There were creamy chunks of something. I soon realized it was the chicken! It had turned into mushy bites. After doing research, I found multiple complaints online and that it's not real pieces of chicken. Well, lets see. First, I'm disappointed to see a place i used to work at have a low satisfaction rating. When i started there in management the store was a wreck. Not to mention i had to listen to a uneducated manager tell me, "I have to explain things to him two or three times before he gets it." Then the great guy that replaced her said the same thing after their great collaboration. So let me educate the uneducated. In a university setting, the first time you receive instruction is from the professor(classroom). The second time is when you have homework. The third time is when you have a final exam, that tests your knowledge after studying and some still never ace their exam. (I however graduated on the dean's list) She taught the store the only way to gain favor in her eyes is to go against the best manager the store ever had. The great guy brags of his years there however, after 15 you should be on the district level or vice president of operations. I was sent to his store several times to help out why... high turnover! If you are in high school it's a perfect place for you because eventually you will be graduate and be outta there, but any manager with any type of decency about yourself, i would stay away. Went to the drive thru yesterday. Ordered the chicken and wild rice soup which is consistently good as is the bread. Made the mistake of also ordering a turkey BLT. When I got home I unwrapped the sandwich to what looked like a thick slab of meat with lettuce tomato and bacon. Upon further inspection the slab was several thin slices of turkey that the preparer couldn't be bothered to separate. Really?? How lazy and trifling are you? I have tried to use curbside pickup several times and I have never received a correct order. I have also never had my order delivered earlier than 15 minutes past my "order is ready" notification. I have had to walk in and get it myself twice. This time, 20 minutes after it was supposed to be done, I went in and was informed someone stole my food and it was being remade. I get it, crap happens. Wait patiently, get my food and head home. Aaaaaaand, missing a soup. I give up. Every time I try curbside I get the shaft. I called to let them know but what good does it do? I love Panera and this location is no different. I always get the steak and arugula sandwich which is delicious! Went through drive-through to pick up a bowl of soup on my way home from Rehoboth this evening around 8:30 PM. One person ahead of me at the pickup window. NO ONE addressed me after five minutes. Twice I said, "hello" & finally a voice responded with a rude tone, "someone will be with you in a minute". Placed my order & pulled up behind a large black pickup truck that was (still) at the pickup window. After about five minutes saw what looked like a drink & straw handed to the person in the truck. The person in the truck took it & was waving the straw back & forth seemingly "teasing" the person in the store as they talked & joked. After about another TEN minutes or so, the truck pulled away. Mind you, there was NO other food or drinks passed to the driver during that time! I pulled up to the window, looked inside & see three young people-a young man playing on his cell phone, a young woman having a conversation on her cell phone using speakerphone, & another person walking back & forth trying to fill orders. No apparent manager on duty & zero supervision! I've been a long time happy customer of the Panera in North Wilmington, as well as the Christiana Mall location when it was in business. This was the WORST customer service I've experienced hands down at ANY fast-food restaurant!! One star reflects that rating!! read more

I WAS. A fan of this place .. it's one of the better Paneras. Today I stopped in there to get rapid pick up and saw some young people come in with a dog. They were carrying the dog in their arms... It was a Chihuahua or some small breed like that... I told the manager that there were people sitting at the table with a dog and asked him if that was customary. rom my understanding the laws in Delaware prohibit that except in certain situations. Later I sat outside and saw that they didn't leave and called him and he told me that he asked them about the dog and they told him it was a service dog. Normally I associate service dogs with breeds such as German shepherds etc. These kids were just cutting up and having fun and the little dog sat on their lap. I'm not sure how this could be a service dog as none of these kids seemed handicapped or blind or anything that I could see. The manager told me he's only allowed to ask and if they say it's a service dog, he cannot do anything about it. Note to self... If I would like to bring a ped into Panera and they ask me about it, all I need do is say it's a service pet! I have been informed by others that some of the small dogs are service dogs for PTSD. My heart goes out to people who suffer from this and other mental challenges and illnesses. I'm not hard hearted but wouldn't it be fair to ask people if this is a service dog? Maybe people who are approved for service dogs should have a card they carry that proves this. Otherwise the restaurant could be filled with dogs some of which are not as well behaved as others. On the visit described above, they were for teenagers and they were cutting up and having a great time. My estimation is that the friends of the person who had PTSD would have been therapy enough without the dog at least seemingly. Maybe I don't understand these things fully, but I'm open minded and willing to hear your thoughts. Thank you. read more

This is the worst Panera bread shop in the state! I ordered one salad Green Goddess Cobb on 10/05/20 and first no chicken! I contacted store and Np they would replace,which I picked up on 10/08/20 because I live in a few towns over and this time no tomatoes. This is not the first time this has happened with replacement salads for either missing items or bad quality greens. This shop should be closed and start over with new management and better employee training. If I'm going to eat at a chain restaurant, I'd choose Panera. I have had my favorite spinach and artichoke soufflé for breakfast several times...always delicious. I love their seasonal Strawberry Poppyseed Salad with chicken. But, if you want a REAL treat, try the lobster roll! I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked! The roll wasn't buttered and grilled as it traditionally is served, but it was soft, fresh, and delicious. The generous serving of lobster was lightly dressed and sweet. I like to add a light sprinkle of Old Bay, but it's still good without. When I heard that Panera was serving this, I'll admit I was skeptical. We ended up eating there two days in a row. Don't let the price deter you. It's a bargain for what you get! This Panera has consistently provided exceptional quality in food and service. So much so that I went back so often, that I kind of got sick of it (in a good way I swear). The two starts is for the food but Service was less than desirable! Their was four people in the restaurant at the time we walked in 45 min before 5 more people came in. We order on the Kiosk because no one was at the registers but there was four people on the side just chitchatting. When went to get our drinks the Hot Water was Luke warm no napkins in the slot. Still all these people standing around talking. When we went to find a table we found only one small one that look clean. After we sat down a women came from the back and ask these employees why no one was at the registers. The floor in the dining area had paper crumbs and strip sticks on the floor. Who ever was cooking did a pretty good job with the food bush my husband Mac and Cheese was cold so he took it back to be warmed. After dinner I wanted to buy scones to take home now they had 4 or 5 standing in a line all after I came to the counter for bake goods. A girl look at me two or three time and then went over to the cash register where all the people were standing and only one cashier which I understood. She stood their doing nothing and then put gloves on came over and started taking the scones out. I ask if someone was buying then and she says no we are closing the bakery. She then said oh do you want to buy some? I said yes that's why I am standing at the counter, well you can but you will need to go to the other line. At this point I said no that's ok!. I know it's hard to find help and many times young workers lack the ability to give 100% and have no idea how to work or talk to the customers. I have never written a bad review in my life but I want the manger to realize if you don't have standards for your workers and make sure they do their job all your employees won't do their job. If your serving good food then you need a standard of cleaning in the dinning room. Train employees that their real boss is those coming in the door and giving the money that pays them!
