I was in Tampa Florida for over 2 weeks now and finally had my breakfast at Panera Bread. Omg what a Big difference in customer service from that of my NY Panera Bread stores. Although they are nice there as well. Not as nice or cordial as Sirena in the Clearwater store. Sirena set the stage high with a very warm greeting and superb nature. My meal which I always loved for my NY breakfast was the avocado and egg sandwich. Meal meal was prepared to perfection and in a very short time. Tried Panera for the first time today. Awesome breakfast sandwiches. Good flavor and real (or at least "real-like") eggs. Chipotle egg sammy on ciabatta was pretty good. The coffee was ok, the coffee holding silos are not a great idea because it gets cold fast, unlimited coffee refills is nice, but the price for it kinda negates the "free" refills; overall coffee value is not high, but the food quality is great. Many times there is no CO2 for drinks. No kiosk available for efficient service. The worst is in the evening when it's nice to sit outside and enjoy your food or drink there are some older guys sitting outside next to the no smoking sign and smoking it impossible to enjoy your food sitting outside. One of the better Panera's in the Area in my opinion. Plenty of seating, the music isn't too loud, and an ample amount of outlets for people working that need to charge their computers. When you stop for lunch you don't want to be competing for seats with people that have bad internet at home. What's so hard for the management of Panera to understand. Seats and tables are for customers. Customers eat and go home in about a hour.. These office freeloaders stay for hours in seating that is for paying customers. When you want good food that's decadent (pastries) or good for you (white omelets and soups), Panera satisfies. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly & efficient, and the service is quick & they get your order right. I have yet to be disappointed. The autumn squash soup is so good, but only available seasonally. Turkey chili is great all year long. If you don't want hot, fresh bread as your side, ask for chips or an apple. Usually I get the apple, but I can't bite into it, so they cut it up for me. I also feel healthier ordering the apple. In the dining area, which is usually clean, there are booths, tables & chairs, and a few corner booths. It's clean, and staff comes by to take empty plates out of your way. I had never been to this location and had also never ordered a tuna sandwich from Panera. I got my order to go so didn't see my sandwich till I got home. The presentation of the sandwich is nice until I open it. It was piled high with arugula and tomatoes. What was lacking on my tuna sandwich was TUNA. Could not have been more than a couple teaspoons of tuna. I ended up getting about 3 bites out of the sandwich after having to take off the top piece of bread. I will not go back to that location. Off to a lousy start. Girl behind counter not familiar with breakfast menu. She had her boss step her through my order, which was fine. We all start someplace and she was apologetic as was the lady manager. Very patient on both their parts as they had just run out of ciabatta rolls. So they gave me the little pager to await my order. My wife and I stopped here around 10:45AM this morning and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. She asked the cashier if she could borrow a couple of bowls to heat up some food for us (we're from Orlando and traveling with our 13 year old dog who I was visibly sitting outside with). The cashier gives her two bowls and my wife began getting our food ready. We are both vegan, and there are no vegan protein options at Panera whatsoever. Knowing that we were going to spend the afternoon at the beach, we intentionally made vegan sausage jambalaya at our Vrbo the day before and brought it with us on the road. About 10 minutes later, as she's heating up our lunch, a young blond woman (who I'm assuming is the manager) comes over and tells her that she can't be heating up outside food. My wife explains that we're traveling and that she's trying to get our family set up outside so that she can then buy us some drinks and snacks to go with it (which was the honest truth). This staff member didn't even bother to ask what the circumstances were of our situation. She just scolded my wife and then told her it was for future reference; she didn't actually care if my wife finished heating up our food. Turns out the microwave was broken anyway, so we sat outside eating cold leftovers (still delicious) and just decided to go to the giant Circle K down the road for drinks and beach snacks. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. We would have happily tried heating up our food at the Circle K instead if we had been given clear direction from the cashier when my wife first asked to borrow the bowls. We haven't been to Panera on Main Street in a long time and now I remember why. Today with my wife, I ordered two bread bowls; one with French onion and the other creamy tomato soup. $17.95. Waited for a few minutes and was given a small bread ball about 3 1/2" in diameter with the top cut off and the inside bread dough removed. They then filled it with croutons and filled it with about a half-ladle of soup. Basically it wasn't even the size of a cup of soup that you buy at the local diner They also put a small piece of bread on the plate which looked like a small sub roll hand broken in half. Well, it's Panera. It's not awful or incredible, and every time I come here it's fine. I used to love Panera, but their business model seems to have become less customer centric and more about the bottom line. They have a giant menu that has some stand outs, as well as some "what were they thinking??" items (i.e. the lean cuisine style pasta). Go here for their seasonal squash soup (in a bread bowl - even better) or their morning egg soufflés. If you haven't been to Panera in a few years, their portion sizes keep declining so don't expect any leftovers. Otherwise, this is a good place to study, meet a book club, etc. It does get chilly in the one! Not sure what's up with their HVAC system. At least they have soup to warm you up. read more

After receiving numerous emails touting their new signature chicken sandwich I finally convinced my wife to come try it. Yuck! The meat has been baked & put in the warming oven/table for retrieval per order. The special sauce was unremarkable along with the arugula & endive lettuce. The brioche bun was arguably twice as thick as desirable. All told, the sandwich was devoid of any flavor. Altogether, the bill fell just short of $40, for lunch?, i.e. chicken sandwich, Asian church chicken salad, autumn squash & chicken n' wild rice soups, & unsweetened Iced Tea (Panera doesn't offer sweetened so one has to try dissolving sugar into the cold beverage [doesn't work] rather than blending the two different teas [which is available at all other eateries]). There is a reason why this location only has 2 stars on Yelp. I'm actually surprised it has that many. Here is my experience: My wife set up an order online for delivery to my office for a luncheon. No problems there. The delivery time was established as 11:30 AM. At 10:57 AM, I received an email letting me know my order has been canceled due to no available drivers. My wife called the restaurant and spoke to the GM, who gave her a different reason, they didn't have one of the soups requested, so she canceled the order with the driver being notified on site. This was confirmed by the driver, who texted me to let me know the manager canceled the order. When my wife asked why the restaurant didn't call to let us know, the GM simply hung up the phone. I have emailed corporate with no response. My wife has called corporate and been told there isn't anything they can do. I won't say I have had a bad experience at every location, but I would certainly recommend anyone stay away from this one. The GM is rude and unprofessional. How easy it could have been to substitute the item or offer any other means of concession. This particular GM chose to lose a customer and potentially more after I communicate this with folks at the company I represent. read more

I can always grab a bowl of soup and a quick sandwich and know that at least the meal is hearty and should be "Real" food, vs typical fast food. Absolutely trash! Stay far away. Not only is the food overpriced for the area, believe it or not they also want you to bus your own table. There is a competitor on the other side of the mall that sells better quality food (more organic choices) is less expensive and they bus the table, as well you get free soft serve ice cream for free. The food is Sysco, look it up if you don't believe me, Panera Bread uses Sysco as a main supplier of their ingredients (the broccoli cheddar soup comes in a bag!) I had the corn chowder soup and it was runny, are chowders not thicker? Perhaps I am wrong on this one, but it seemed odd that the chowder was the consistency of tomato soup. There is no way I will return, but I wanted to let others know just how poor their food is with an exceptionally high price. I've appreciated this location on State Rd 580 in Clearwater, by Kohl's. However, today a woman entered, ordered her food, and took it to her table, while holding the lease of a medium size DOG! With no service dog vest. It's a very fluffy dog - lots of hair. The dog's had its paws on the table and chair. The restaurant brought a bowl of water to it. I asked why it was allowed inside. Staff said they could not legally ask her if the dog was a service dog. I'm beyond words!! With all the regulations about dogs in restaurants, how can this be okay? The dog is INSIDE the restaurant! Out in the middle! I will be researching this more. I can not believe the management cannot legally not ask for the dogs removal to outside! Outrageous! read more

First of all, I usually like Panera, but this time they did something that really upset me. My wife and I went to have lunch there because they have soup and she is recovering from dental implant surgery. Her mouth is very sore and she can't chew anything right now so she wanted soup. We waited to order for a few minutes without anyone coming over to get our order. Finally, what looked like a manager going off duty with her purse over her shoulder asked if we had been helped yet. When we said no, she was nice enough to put down her purse and take our order, however she didn't give me a buzzer like they normally do and instead told me that they would call out my name when the order was ready. We went over to a table and sat down and talked while we were waiting. After about 10 minutes of talking and listening to the music on the overhead speaker I finally got tired of waiting. I went to the counter and asked about my order and a girl and guy behind the counter told me that they had been calling me. She didn't have a really loud voice and I told her that I never heard her. I took my order and went back to the table. I then really started listening for them to call out other orders and realized that they weren't shouting out the names but only speaking them which is why I hadn't heard them. I guess the part that really ticks me off is that they have speakers for the music that they could be using to call people's orders, but evidently they think they don't need to do that. Add to that the fact that my wife's soup was not as hot as it should have been and my chipotle chicken sandwich seemed to be a little bit light on chicken. I didn't say anything about it at the time because I was really pissed and afraid I'd lose my cool if they tried to justify the situation. We decided to try Panera for dinner last night. The young lady that took our order greeted us nicely & was quite energetic & pleasant. I ordered a Spicy Thai Chicken Salad & the Craft drink. I requested a half salad which was over $6. The salad was excellent, but a bit pricey for the very small amount I received. The spiciness of the salad definitely had a kick to it, which I enjoyed. Everything tasted fresh. Again my only complaint is the half salad was small for the price paid. The craft drink I ordered allowed me access to about a half dozen dispensers of specialty drinks. I tried all of them, & found that they all tasted like flavored waters. They read well, but most had quite subdued, watered-down flavor. The lemonade was probably the tastiest. All in all, Panera wasn't bad. I'll probably skip the craft drink next time, & I'll probably order a full-size salad. read more
