I usually enjoy Panera. The food is good and service adequate. Tonight I tried the online ordering for quick pick-up. The food came out quickly, but I ordered the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and it came out without chicken. It was pretty disappointing and I didn't have time to go back and have them remake it. read more

this place is ALWAYS crowded. but once you find a cozy spot, it's hard not to leave. plus you get free wifi - which i am using to write this review. their food is okay. i just ordered their asiago roast beef sandwich and was not impressed a least bit. their creamy tomato soup on the other hand is mouth wateringly delicious. it comes with a handful of asiago crutons on top that are are chewy and adds the perfect touch of saltiness to it. a perfect combo for your mouth. their pastries are just ok. nothing special - very mass produced tasting - like it came in a box with a hundred others and heated up in a microwave. i only come here to take advantage of its free wifi and study-like atmosphere. it's a nice neighborhood venue if you ever want to get some work done with a nice cup of coffee. it's far bigger and much quieter than starbucks just couple stores down. the only downside to the free wifi is that during certain peak hours, only 30 minutes are allotted for your use. sucks. read more

I like Panera Bread as a company. Motherbread, a loaf of bread in every arm, it's warm and inviting, good food, and great atmosphere. I don't like the customer service at THIS Panera. Every time I go here, it's the same experience - it's actually the same female associate and the same male manager. The arsenal of dirty looks, the mono-tone barking tones in conversing with their customers...just makes me feel guilty for going into Panera and wasting their time ordering from them. It really feels like they hate their jobs, hate the company they work for, and everything around them. It shows. I understand that bad days happen, stress can get the best of some... So I've reconsidered a few times. I go back and dine there, and it's always a repeat experience. I would rather not give patronage to a business that appears to have a death wish out for me, and so I will stick to my guns and skip this Panera Bread from now on, which is a shame because the food is good. But there are other bagel shops, delis, bistros that will gladly take my business and not make me feel bad for existing while doing so. It just feels dirty. The food prep area looks so disorganized. Staff walking around holding sandwiches looking for plates. None of the surfaces wiped down. Scraps of food on sandwich prep area. Food left unclaimed at pick up. Panera has decent food but this location needs a major overhaul and training on food service. Staff are nice and friendly though. read more

I am so moved by the excellent customer service extended to me today by the employees at this Panera, specifically by Cristian (cashier) and Mike Petrosino (Assistant Manager). I decided to make a trip to this neighboring Panera because I had recently received an email from Panera saying that if I purchase lunch, my next breakfast purchase would be free. When I mentioned this to Cristian who was placing my lunch order, he informed me that the computers/systems were unfortunately down and therefore he would be unable to enter my Panera card info. He was courteous and empathetic throughout, and immediately notified the Assistant Manager, Mike Petrosino. Mike generously "manager mealed" my lunch (paid for my food), and took the time to write a note on the back of his business card to notify the next Panera employee that my breakfast should be free. I am overwhelmed by their kind gestures, and wish to acknowledge them for their amazing customer service. I will certainly be returning to this Panera in the near future thanks to its great service! read more

I'm giving two stars because I'm feeling generous. I've been once before and the sandwich I bought was good. Yesterday though I was by the counter with one person working. Two others were just chatting. When they felt ready to take my order they asked me what I wanted, despite seeing all the while that I was waiting to order. I said I wanted a Turkey Panini with Cranberry sauce on it after which the cashier said they were out of them (?). Then he said, "uh, well, let me check". Yelled loudly several times to the other kids who said, "yeah, out of it... uh, well, let me check"... "Yeah, we've got it", cashier: "Yeah, we've got it". Over 9 bucks for a Panini. Better be a good one. Waiting for them to make it I could hear the kids (yeah, they're kids) being a bit confused. Did they have Cranberry sauce or not? Where was it? Was it in the right place? After some waiting I got my Painini and went home. This. Was. Not. A. Good. Tasting. Panini. The bread was moist, all of the ingredients tasted pre-made rather than fresh, and it was just a very lame Panini. I would pay exactly 3.50 for it. That's about what it was worth. This is a phenomenal place to study and grab lunch but that is not what makes it extraordinary. It is the staff that truly makes this place feel like home. I had a lovely encounter with the cashier, Keyona, who not only greeted me but even took care of the nuances of my order. Although it was a short interaction, she took the time to listen and care about my concerns. That was truly exceptional and a healthy change from the usual cut and dry service one would get at other locations. Panera, the expensive side of quick serve restaurants. Being in suburbia central around the movie theater I've eaten here on a number of occasions. Their sandwiches are always acceptable and the seating is super comfortable, spacious, and clean. Currently they have their lobster roll on sale and for $18.99 you can get this sandwich. Naturally intrigued, this is what I ordered. Unfortunately besides for the large amounts of lobster, it was lacking any kind of real flavor. I though it needed more mayo since it was pretty dry and while Luke's Lobster may be expensive and small, they are at least tasty. But then again, what am I to expect from Panera? read more

Love me some Panera! This place is my go to when I'm in the mood for some yummy comfort food (creamy soup or the mac & cheese for instance) I usually order for rapid pickup through my phone so I just walk in and grab my food waiting for me without even having to say a word. I offer order rapid pickup even when I plan to sit and eat. The staff have always been super friendly and the cleaning staff always goes above and beyond. I've been walking to the garbage to dispose of my garbage and had them meet me half way helping me out on multiple occasions. This place is my quick alternative to fast food. read more

a better then decent panera in long island city thats never crowded and food is served fresh and quickly . plenty of seating from tables to booths with enough room to enjoy your sandwich , salad , soup , pastry , coffee, pasta bowl, etc. place is clean and unlike the few manhattan locations that i tend to visit i was mildly surprised how nice the workers are here . i. had an hour before my movie started across the street and applebees next door was too crowded so its panera tonight with the fast free wifi and a large caffeine free diet pepsi which i will really enjoy when the menu board with my name flashing is called. finally got my food and while sitting at a corner booth everything looks good but the bread is stale which i kinda understand causes its 9pm so its a bag of chips instead. when it comes to pastries and bread products the early bird gets the fresh worm at panera .overall its ok and better then ok during breakfast and lunch time. read more

Now, being the native San Franciscan that I am, the sourdough on this coast doesn't eve come close to comparing to the heaven that is San Francisco Sourdough, however, it's a creature comfort to me and their vegetarian blackbean soup is damn tasty. I really like Panera Breads for a lunch option. They offer quality hot sandwiches, soup and salad along with fresh baked goods at great prices compared to a fast food joint. I always get the 1/2 combo of chipotle chicken and broccoli cheddar soup--it's soo good. This spot is perfect alternative to have lunch prior to a movie (Regal Kaufman Studios is across the street) rather than spending $20 on popcorn and soda. It's a win for me! read more

I just recently relocated to Queens and was in search of a good place to study. Panera has always been my go-to because of the bottomless tea and availability of Wifi and seating. This Panera location has gone above and beyond my expectations. This location provides ample seating, Wifi and a big selection of menu items. The sound level is reasonable and if you come at the right time you can get a nice corner to yourself. I highly recommend Panera is you're looking for a place to study. Staff is friendly but I am not coming here for friends....so read on! I really don't understand why Panera even exists in Astoria let alone NYC. I have been to this Panera twice - once in 2009 for a bagel and today for a sandwich. I was so disappointed. For $8 I got a half veggie sandwich and a small lemonade. The portion of the sandwich was sooooo tiny. Really Panera? For $5 this is what you give me? The two stars is for the clean space and free Wi-Fi. But that is not enough to bring me back. I can make a pathetic sandwich all on my own. If you are reading this and can boil water, then I guarantee that you can make a better meal that what you will get here. read more

Thumbs up to cashier Shajera. There were 2 registers opened when I walked in. A woman was waiting at one register so I stood on line at the other register. While waiting I already noticed the woman was trouble. When the customer in front of me finished before the customer in front of her, the woman dashed towards Shajera. I don't appreciate her cutting me so I said spmething to the effect like excuse me? She said 'I was here first.' I told her I was on this line and she was waiting over there (at the register to my left ). When she insisted, she made me mad. She was trying to cut in front of me and yet is making me to be the person who did wrong. Then she said 'if you want to go ahead (to order) then go ahead" but she didn't leave and continues to compliant. Shajera stepped in and said to her "she (me) was here first". This pissed her off and she started saying that's not true. She demanded to watch the video. She said "if you watch the video you will see I was here. " I told her "you were here but on the other line." With the time she wasted bothering me and the cashier, I could have been done with my order (I only wanted a cinnamon roll) already and she could cut BEHIND me. Thumbs up to Shajera for doing the right thing. I have been to other establishments where the cashier actually would serve these rude customers who cut in front of me. Oh Panera how I love your broccoli cheddar soup...it has warmed me up many a day during this long, cold winter. I'm also a fan of their chicken cobb salad, so yummy and healthy. And thanks to MyPanera card, I had a free Chai latte which was Chai-lecious. The place is huge, I always find a table (with my baby stroller-which as moms and dads know can be cumbersome in some dining establishments), it's always clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful, one lovely lady carried my tray to the table so that I could push the stroller...I've never had a bad experience here. I left one star off because of the loud teenagers that come here after school...not Panera's fault but I have to time my visits to avoid all the noise. read more

I think Panera's lunch food far outweighs their pastry selection, which mostly seem just sugary bland to me, without a lot of flavor definition. A couple of the bagels are all right, but their salads and soups are much better and more varied in taste and selection. Coffee is good if it's brewed fresh, otherwise it tastes burned. The staff are on top of things but a little overzealous in taking away used dishes and trays. Lunch is crazy but if you go in the off-hours you can usually find a table to yourself and a moment's peace and quiet. read more

I love panera bread. Their food is great, service is good, the only problem at this location is the immense amount of high school students who go during the week. They do not know how to act, plain and simple. I've been there during lunch hours numerous times and you simply can not sit and eat there while the kids are there. Drinks and food get tossed around, etc, no one does anything about it. I felt like i was back in my high school days in the cafeteria. Definitely this location needs some update and re-training of their managerial representatives to save other people the hassle of not enjoying lunch. read more
