Let me start off with saying I'm literally walking out the door from waiting 40 minutes for my order but the reason I give them 5 stars is because you have a short staff you see people trying their absolute best to get orders out between dine in order take out order and rapid pick up orders and running low on products it is not their fault at all. These people probably have been there since that morning working all morning afternoon into the night. And dealing with every type of customer. As a general manager my first thought was this is what happens when you are either short staffed or people call out for idiotic reasons and you have to stay and literally pick up all the pieces. My heart went out for every employee that was there busting their tail. And those who had to leave because their shift was over and have families to go home to and can't stay longer. If I knew anything about preparing Panera's food I would of jumped behind the counter myself to help the team out. I almost caught myself about to yell out to create structure in the waiting area because you have a section full of customers who already ordered and they are all waiting together then they start to add fuel to each others fire and attack the whole staff making THEIR food. These people are not robots they are not animals people lack common respect for one another. You so stressed out for having to wait go home and cook a meal. Simple. But to treat people as if they too are not people like that can't be your brother sister uncle daughter son behind that counter bothers me. I want to congratulate the team that was there on October 12 at 7pm having to deal with all the madness I patiently waited and would have waited because I understand how difficult it can be to run a business a team and service your customers and be there for everything that can go wrong and having to fix it. I give my heart out to the manager Celeste she was breaking a sweat to get things and orders out and she really really tried the girl who took my order with the piercings I wanted to hug her and take orders for her my damn self. People need to stop being so damn self centered the world does not revolve around just you appreciate the job and what they are trying to do with so much demand and not enough staff. This is probably my worst experience at this location. No bread in the baskets from which to choose. Extraordinarily slow service. Just totally uninspired-to make a purchase. Finally got to the front of the line and was told we had a choice of 4 bagels. We changed our minds and left after waiting for about 20 minutes. It had the same look and feel about six moths ago. Truly the worst Panera Bread I have ever been to. I placed an order went to pick it up. The juice that I order was out, so i went to the counter and asked if it would be refill, the girl called someone so I figure I'll just wait and start eating. 20 minutes later went back to same girl who now had come around and she said she didn't know. I asked her if there was someone that did, she said she didn't have time for that and was very dismissive. At that point I asked for her name and she covered up her name tag and kept walking. I love panera and havent been in a while, ( i just moved to pelham bay area) i went shopping and decided to grab a sandwich and soup. When i walked in i noticed the back area was trashed. Food crumbs everywhere, full trash bins and used gloves laying about. They werent busy. I ordered a onion soup and a steak asagio. When i got it .. eweee ewe ewwwa. It was cold. Cheese wasnt melted and it was lumpy. The sandwich OMG. The middle of the meat WAS DEAD COLD AND OOZING BLOOD. I like my steak rare , but that was so unpleasant. Food at Panera is consistent across he board. I've never been to a Panera that had bad food, BUT holy shit. I just had the slowest service of my life. It took them twenty minutes to make my to go order (tomato mozzarella flatbread, and mac and cheese). Everyone was polite which was the only saving grace, but they were literally moving so slowly, and having these distracting side conversations. I come to Bay plaza often but had not gone to Panera Bread but I had a meeting. This place was so packed. Unbelievable. I found a table and had to clean it off myself. The line was ridiculously long. And only 2 registers open and one of the cashiers kept walking around and in and out of the store, honestly, no clue what that was about. Considering the long line I just didn't see any urgency in the employees to get through the line, they were so damn nonchalant. I spent 15 mins on that line for coffee. I purchased an ice coffee and there was no sugar by the coffee. When I let one of the employees who was walking the floor and in charge of restocking, he looked and me and said well there's more by the hot coffee on the other side. Huh?!? This employees at this Panera location do not care about good customer service. I went on 5/13 to redeem a reward on my Panera card for a free cookie and when I made the simple request for a cookie that was on display behind the glass where the rest of the baked goods were, the employee who was taking care of my order made it seem like I was asking too much of her because there were cookies already bagged and ready to be purchased sitting on the counter in front of the register. She felt the need to keep reiterating that all the cookies came out at the same time and were all the same but I wanted one that was not bagged yet. It seemed to me that she was just too lazy to walk the 10-15ft to get me the cookie that I had asked for. Although this Panera location is the closest to me, I would rather drive to the Pelham Manor location instead because their service is 10x better! read more

It's as if the employees here are doing you a favor by being there. They all hate their job. Loved my Panera experience. Super clean, quiet, and tasty. It was my first time eating here with my daughter. She had a caesar salad which she loved. It was really delish. When I visited Panera Bread I wasn't aware of what type of food was served there and how their service worked. Both times that I have visited, I didn't know what I wanted to order, since everything on their menu was new to me, and both times after I told the cashier that I wasn't ready to order, they made me feel rushed. Asking over and over, "Are you ready now?". That part I didn't like. Other than that, I've tried the Frontega Chicken (430 Cal.) Smoked & pulled white meat chicken, mozzarella, tomatoes, red onions, chopped basil & chipotle mayonnaise, grilled hot on our Focaccia. "This panini is beautiful". I also took a bite of my boyfriends sandwich and is was delightful also. He had the Tomato & Mozzarella Hot Panini ( 390 Cal.) Fresh mozzarella, roasted & fresh tomatoes, fresh basil and all-natural sun-dried tomato pesto on Ciabatta Overall, I've ordered the Frontega Chicken Panini twice and both times they sandwich was fresh, tasty and identical. Their lemonade is good too. 90 calories a 16oz. They also have this iced green tea, hat seems very popular. The service at this Panera bread is horrible, when I call to make a phone order they put me on a hold for 5-10 mins which defeats the purpose because by the time anyone comes back I'm almost at the restaurant. The reason I have to make the phone order is because when I go to order at the restaurant I am literally waiting 20-25 mins for my order after I pay. That is ridiculous! There was one instance where I ordered 1 smoothie, and I stood there waiting for that smoothie for 15 minutes, mind you the machine that makes the smoothie is right next to the register and it was not busy in there. Two of those instances I was dealing with the same associate as my cashier, I would call her name but she is not the only problem, just the only name I've got. Sunday evenings may not be an opportune time to visit this location. They appeared to be under staffed. Many customers expressed there frustration over the lack of service. To be sure, the assistant manager was actually assembling orders but her efforts weren't enough to turn things around. We ordered two salads after waiting close to 40 minutes, I found my order laying on the counter. It wasn't quite what we ordered. My wife got a half salad even though we ordered two full salads. Rather than add to the chaos, we just ate and ran. Won't be back for awhile, at least never on a Sunday. read more

While this Panera is not nearly as clean as the Panera's in California, I will say that I was pleasantly surprised to find one in the Bronx. While the counter service is both slow and rude (which actually isn't much different than their Cali counterparts) the kids who deliver the food are pleasant enough and the food is consistent with the Panera brand (whatever that means.) Because there isn't a plethora of free wi-fi to be found in the area they are very popular with the laptop sect. They usually have enough seating but finding a seat with an outlet is challenge. read more

So I've been here in the past when it first opened and it was great but now the line is out the door and barely moves and their whole pastry shelf is empty their back cooking station looks a mess they didn't bother to ask if I had my panara rewards card and the drinks area where the condiments are is a complete disaster and when I asked for milk since the container was empty the woman just rolled her eyes at me she didn't even bother washing it oh and to top it off she uses the soda machine water to wash her hands and then picks up someone's food to bring to their table like are you kidding me I never write nasty reviews but who even manages this place even the floor is dirty just gross can't wait to see how my food turns out if they ever bring it to the table .... read more

I first encountered Panera when I lived in the south. The location I normally frequented was beautifully maintained, clean, and served great food. They even had a working fireplace that really enhanced the ambiance and artisan pizza that was to die for. Additionally, the staff was extremely friendly, engaging and looked like they enjoyed their job. I've tried to fall in love with this location and was actually a fan of it after I moved to NYC. Now, I'm officially done with this Panera. After rude treatment at the hands of unprofessional managers and staff, their inability to fulfill simple orders, and poor sanitary conditions in the dining area, I will no longer support this location. I should have stopped coming here when they served my salad in a dirty bowl. Even the Panera Associate was disgusted when I showed her the dirty bowl they put my food in. I remember telling a manager that my drink tasted different than what I had experienced in the past. If looks could kill, I would be dead! I thought I was going to be throttled. The manager offered to make it again, but not before giving me the death stare. I passed - I don't mess around with pissed off people who have access to what I put in my mouth! I think the managers are overworked which may contribute to their inability to interact with the crowd appropriately. Folks, you would boycott this Panera if you tasted and experienced the difference of other Paneras. The standards of this shop wouldn't fly in other places. I usually don't do reviews. I ordered my food at 6:58pm. Three people that were behind me have already received there order. You can honestly see the woman behind the counter frustration by her throwing the plates of food that shes not happy. Complaining of staffing, needing of dishes. I just ask her how much longer and she said 4 more minutes. It's currently 719pm. I'm just waiting for two half panni's. Another customers order just finished before mine.
