Panera Bay Plaza is giving... cute café that does not feel like the Bronx To my surprise Panera has brought back the cranberry orange flavored muffin which is now sold by the slice. This is my absolute favorite item to buy at Panera's. Customers voiced their opinion on X (Twitter) when it was taken off the menu. Thankfully the powers that be listened and put it back on the menu!!! The cranberry orange slice was fresh, and tasted amazing, favorite item on the menu! The staff are super friendly, the restaurant is very clean, loved the esthetics, the atmosphere was calm, and quiet at lunch time. Pro tip: Mobile order like your life depends on it. First thing to know about this store is it is a franchise store and not a corporate store. The service is incredibly slow so if you are in a rush do not come here. They unfortunately do not have the self order kiosk so lunch time the line is very long. The last time I was there I ordered a Greek salad with chicken, which they forgot the chicken. The quality of the food was standard Panera you just need to wait a while and hope the order is made right. Awful! Don't come here during lunch hour! Or don't bother ordering ahead either because it won't matter. The parking situation is terrible. We waited 30 min for our food to be made and when we finally got our order it was wrong! They were working on all of the catering orders before all the orders of people who ordered in the store. I haven't been to a Panera in a while but $32 for mediocre food for two people is a little steep. One star given because my order got comped and that's the minimum that I can give but that isn't the point. I have had many issues with this location in the past. They constantly screw up orders but it had been a minute since we ordered here and since they made it through the pandemic, I figured that maybe they've improved on their service....wrong! Let me preface by saying that I worked all day today and started feeling ill, so much so, that I went and got a second rapid and PCR test at a nearby urgent care to make sure I'm negative for covi. I'm talking about fever, chills, body aches, the whole nine...I had NO intention to cook, so I decided to order curbside from Panera for the fam. I specifically ordered curbside because I felt like UTTER trash and I felt it would be more responsible to not go inside since I am not feeling well, so as not to exposure anyone to whatever I got. I ordered a large meal at a quarter to 5p and the site said the order would be available in 10 minutes after I submitted. I followed the instructions, found a curbside parking spot, turned on my hazard lights and alerted them through the text confirmation that I was ready for my order. Fifteen minutes later, I received a message saying that the order was ready. I sat in my car for over 30 minutes and decided to call and find out what the deal was. Linda, the covering manager, answers and gets my name. She looks to see what happened to my order and says it was not there and she doesn't know what happened to it. She said they were short-staffed and that she, herself, got my order together but for some reason it wasn't there and that she would have to redo it. I find all of this BS, because I had been in the parking lot for over 30 minutes and people that arrived after me, went into the restaurant ordered their food, received it and left before I got anything. While I was talking to her I received a text message saying my food was ready. Go fig. Fifteen minutes later, no food. I get annoyed and go inside, which is what I was trying to avoid for many reasons. I ask for the manager. She says my order is being worked on. At this point, the fluorescent lights are worsening my headache. I feel like total shite. Linda jumps behind the counter and starts rushing my order in the bag. She comes around, calls my name and offers a stupid pastry for the wait. I declined. At this point I'm even more annoyed because it's been almost 60 minutes. I grab the bag and drive home. I ate some soup. I hadn't eaten anything all day, so I scarfed down their VERY salty chicken soup. We're checking the order and realize that they left out a bread bowl. I call Linda and she offers to credit me a bread bowl. Guess what? I have to go back to Panera in order to get a refund for their mistake. The gas spent on the drive alone, would make my refund null, but whatevs. I'm lounging on my terrace in the heat of the sun, freezing under a warm blanket, and my son comes to show me his bacon turkey bravo. He already took a couple of bites and I can clearly see the white square paper that they use to separate the ingredients to make sure each sandwich gets the same amount of cheese and protein. Ya'll, he ate PAPER. I call to speak with Leeenda again, and after initially waiting on the phone for 10 minutes, I called back and she answered. I told her about the paper, she apologizes and comps the meal. I get being short-staffed but this is food service. If there are less people working the line then you should pay that much more attention to detail, ensuring that the food people will be ingesting is actually edible. I have a feeling they never made my order. Another person with my same last name came in for his order and it looks like they were just going by names on the order instead of the actual order numbers. I am surprised that there aren't more Panera's in the Bronx. This one is all the way out east in a big commercial area. It looks like your typical Panera with unfortunately no indoor seating due to Covid. The bathroom is clean which sometimes hit or miss at Panera. The food was hit or miss a little. The chipotle chicken avocado melt was spot on but the chicken noodle was horrible. It was served cold and had no flavor. Horrible. The chocolate chip cookie tasted a day old as well. If I can give this review zero stars, I WOULD! I stopped by yesterday to grab some lunch at the Panera Bread located right on Baychester, Bronx, NY. I placed my order with the store manager, whereas I ordered a "You Pick Two". I decided on the Bacon/Cheese Melt alongside the Chicken Cesar Salad. When I finally receive my order, I head out and start taking my items out my bag to double check all was correct with my order.. where I quickly spotted a COCKROACH CRAWLING inside of my Chicken Cesar Salad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I immediately called over the restaurant and asked to speak with the manager (as he was also the same individual who took my order). While on the phone with the Manager, he quickly asks me to please return the salad back to the restaurant and also offered me a full refund on my recent purchase. When I finally arrive back to the restaurant I ask to see the Manager, and he greets me again, and asks for the salad back. He then apologized for the finding of the COCKROACH in my salad and states that he will be issuing a refund of my purchase. Once the refund was issued, he then asks if I would like anything "on the house" from the restaurant's bakery .. where I quickly replied with a "no". To wrap up my experience, he offers me a "You Pick Two" coupon, which basically allowed me to put it to use at any Panera Bread location and I wouls be able to get a free meal on them.. Once I got in my house and was able to review the coupon, I realized that the coupon was expired since 2018!!!!!!! I solely, wanted to share my experience with you all to advise you all to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check/review your food(s) after receiving your order(s)! Service was terrible, workers were constantly talking to each other without making my food, which resulted in a 20+ mins wait for 2-3 items. The third time was right now, and the restaurant felt empty. Mostly everything was out of stock. They get your order right, turnover time is shorter compared to others and most importantly, they listen and ask about your order, list the options for sides and so on.
