I already think that Panera is quite expensive. I already think that Panera serves below average food. These things are a given, even at this establishment. But my goodness, this might be one of the most unsanitary restaurants that I have been to. I often stop here to try and get some work done while I make the trek from Chicago to Central IL, but I'm having second thoughts about re-visiting. Let's get some of the tame stuff out of the way. The food here, average and over priced. Last visit I had their half sandwich and soup. The sandwich that I ordered honestly wasn't too bad, it had chicken and avocado and some peppers inside. It was warm and the flavors balanced well. My soup was the French onion soup, which was bland and lukewarm. It came with a side of bread which was cold and hard, so eating it was no easy feat, even while dipping it in the soup. The biggest price catastrophe went to the mango smoothie. Sure, the smoothie was decent, but $7 for half of what a Smoothie King offers is painful. The horrors of this Panera were in the bathroom. I went to wash my hands when I arrived, and there was a ring of mold growing on the handles of the sink. It wasn't just a small ring, it was growing upwards, meaning that it hadn't been addressed for quite some time. It was quite honestly as bad as I had ever seen it. I always say that a restaurant's bathroom is a big indicator to the general practice of the everything else, and I shutter to think what else goes on behind the scenes. I even had to use the bathroom at the end of my meal and just left instead of using that bathroom again. Visitors beware! read more

I redownloaded yelp just to write this review. This is the slowest Panera I've EVER been to. Sat in the drive through for over 20 minutes when there was one car in front of me. Then they asked me to pull off to get my meal, and waited another 15 minutes. i got one cold sandwich, and one salad. Absolutely an asinine wait!! I read a lot of bad reviews about this particular Panera Bread. Of course the food is overpriced, everything is overpriced these days but we live within our means. Occasionally I like to come here for the soups in the bread bowls. The last 2 visits were positive. The first time, my fiancé asked a lot of questions regarding nutrition on some of their items. A staff member pointed to a QR code that she was supposed to take and see for herself. Seeing her confusion and mine, a different staff member went behind the counter and took the code on her phone. Then proceeded to let my fiancé use her phone. LOL. She left to do some cleaning then I returned her phone back to her with my thanks. The last visit was just as pleasant. I ordered a bread bowl. It was good and my fiancé ordered a soup and half sandwich. I ordered an iced cinnamon roll and I got to say, it was pretty good. Definitely coming back. read more

I go to panera alot and this is the first time I had a bad experience. Our buzzer went off. My husband went to get our food and even ask lady if this was it. He brought it back and I got wrong order. I took it back and and lady said my order wasn't ready and we took it wrong. I told her our buzzer went off and lady said it was ours. She ask me buzzer #. How would I know that when all buzzers are placed it a box when done with. I waited for order. Nobody comes close to Panera's broccoli cheddar soup. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Tiffany is my favorite employee, so if you get to meet her you are in good hands. Quick service with lots of seating. My go to meal used to be the Turkey Bacon Bravo (which is delicious) but since it's summer I've switched to their Green Goddess Cobb salad which is incredible. I waited in the drive-through line for about 20 minutes for two large mac & cheese iand a sandwich. As you can see directly into the kitchen from the drive-through window, not one person there seemed like they were in a hurry of taking care of people's orders or the four cars that were behind me. I proceeded to then see them microwave the Mac and cheeses and dump them into the bowls. Not that that bothers me too bad but for the amount of money you pay for a large mac & cheese at almost $10, most customers don't want to see their food being taken out of a plastic bag. You kinda wanna think that stuff is being made fresh during the day LOL. My biggest concern was the lack of their concern that they were taking a very VERY long time and nobody seemed to care. I kind of expect to maybe wait that long if your food is being made fresh like the sandwich but it doesn't take 20 minutes with nobody in the dining area to make a small sandwich and to microwave some food. Our town waited for a Panera for years and years and years. There was always rumors of one opening, but after awhile it was the boy who cried wolf. When it finally opened, you couldn't get within blocks of it for weeks! Alas, I've lived in this town my whole life and I know all about the cycle: A new restaurant opens. Our community acts like crazed people that have never been to a new restaurant before and all pile in their cars to be the first ones there. One month later. A new restaurant opens. Everyone piles in their cars to be the first ones to THAT restaurant. Poor restaurant that opened last month is old news and the rest of us can try it out. Once I was finally able to get within driving distance of Panera, I had to stop in. I was fighting a little cold at the time and nothing heals my throat like a bowl of Panera soup. I love all of the soups that I've tried but my fave are the french onion, clam chowder and broccoli and cheese. I'm also a big fan of their sandwiches and I love the You Pick 2 option where you can get a 1/2 sandwich and cup of soup. Panera is pricey, don't act like you didn't already know this, but I love it once in awhile for a special treat. If you sign up for their Panera card, you can also get a free cookie or smoothie once in awhile just for being a member. I would agree w/ other reviews that this location is small and can get crowded, but the newness of it has worn off and it's at least manageable. read more

This is a nice Panera Bread. Now that it has been open for a while, they've managed to streamline everything. Food is quick and tasty, restaurant is clean. The drive-thru is mega convenient. Every time I eat here, (of course always my wife's choice) I always leave hungry but lighter...in my wallet. Very expensive for a soup and sandwich. Not really very fancy ingredients or anything. I just left this Panera location and had excellent service. There was a mistake when we were ordering but the manager Jewell fixed it for us immediately, and our food, and everyone else's as well, was ready quickly. The food was prepared well and tasted great but I am mainly leaving this review for the manager Jewell. She was so kind to us and everyone else there. She was working as hard or hard than the regular employees. She was helping older customers bring their food to their tables, making sure their orders were correct and just all around providing outstanding service. She was really kind and patient with everyone who came through the doors. All this self-serve stuff while paying rather high prices just doesn't sit well with me. Containers of dirty dishes piled atop trash containers, ewww! Went to Panera for lunch today with a friend. I ordered the pick 2, 1/2 strawberry poppyseed salad and 1/2 Frontega chicken panini. I was charged 5.99 for the half salad and 5.39 for the half sandwich. I thought the Pick 2 was a set price, according to the type of sandwich. This is a ridiculous price for lunch and then 2.39 for a small soda??? If my husband had been with me, it would have been a $30 lunch! No thanks, the foods not that good. I have loved panera for years as it was one of the places I missed when moving to the Kankakee area 4 years ago. I was psyched when we finally got one but all paneras are not created equal. The major cons at this one in particular are 1. Enormous wait times at the drive thru, it's worth it, usually, to just park an go in to order 2. It's small, shares a building with a bank, so even when there's no a lot of people dining in its still loud and packed and 3. They have had a lot of turnover even in management so it's still a ways off from running smoothly. The con of all paneras is that it can be ridiculously expensive, especially if you're like me and have 2 kids (kids meals don't even come with a drink!) I know focusing in the cons here and still giving it a 4 star review and that's because it's panera. It's delicious, awesome bagels and nice bakery selections.
