I love BreadCo. Eat at the location by my office all the time. But this particular location (closest to our home) is TERRIBLE and has been for years. The service is incredibly slow. They get orders wrong literally about 30% of the time. It's dark and cramped. But I might be able to look past all that ... what I can't overlook is that they have a serious problem with flies. Like, houseflies. Every time I'm in there, for years, they're buzzing around the bakery area. It's nauseating. I'm sure they've tried to fix it ... but it's a perpetual issue. My family is from Texas, and we have Panera bread instead of the St Louis Bread Co, so we expected no different service or food. Wow we were wrong. The sandwiches are exceptional (I had the Toasted Steak with White Cheddar sandwich) and the bread is crackly and soooo well baked! The soup was hot and creamy (Creamed chicken and wild rice). We went through the drive thru here and the person taking our order had trouble answering our basic questions. We were the only ones in line at the time and when we got to the window we waited several minutes before they asked us to pull to the side and wait for our food. We watched as several people behind us got their food immediately. My husband walked inside to ask about it and they told us our food had already been brought out to us when it had not. Turns out it had just been sitting inside on the to go rack. We got no apology or anything. Manager of Panera's in Winchester Plaza needs to be retrained in common courtesy and customer satisfaction. Would not honor a receipt brought in from a Paneras in South County that registered THREE overly baked cookies. Customer complained directly to that store (south) and was told order would be replaced OR I could take it to ANY PANERAS WITH THE RECEIPT AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. This particular manager, middle to elderly, had no "bedside manner" and would not replace cookies because the receipt was "thirteen days old". Really? A whole thirteen days? Told customer to take it back to where it was purchased. Customer told manager she RARELY if EVER gets back out that way, and just take care of the problem so we could be on our way. Said he wouldn't do it because it was "thirteen days old". HE needs to be retrained or fired. Hopefully, the latter. read more

horrible "drive thru" experience!!! spent 25 minutes in the drive thru line, with 2 "rapid pick up" cars cutting in front of me!!!! then, when i finally did get up to the windoe, no one came to the window for a good 2-3 minutes! when she finally arrived, she mumbled my name- had to ask her to repeat- and she reached for my card. no customer service at all!!!!!!!!!!! as the cherry on the top, i tried to call - twice!- while i was in the drive up window!!- and no one ever picked up!!!!! it rang and rang and then disconnected!!!! if i could give negative stars, i would!!! Called the store and we were told the delivery driver would call us back. He did not. Sent email to corporate and to local store and both were ignored. Went there today...sick and craving their french onion soup only to find out that it's now seasonal and won't be back till spring. Settle for chicken noodle in a bread bowl and other half gets the you pick 2 soup and sandwhich. It's bad when my full order of soup and his half order of soup are the EXACT same size. And my full order doesn't even fill half the bread bowl when it used to overfill it. His sandwhich was sub par and looked pretty nasty. Honestly...this place isn't worth the money anymore. I greatly enjoy this Saint Louis Bread Company/Panera. They always have great customer service and when I recently had an error with a to-go order (they gave me the wrong soup) I told them and they gave me the soup I had originally wanted for free with no hesitation. That's just one example of how they always work to make sure the customer is happy. The restaurant is always clean, they usually don't run out of items (like another nearby Panera seems prone to doing), and the only issue one could have with this location is that it unfortunately lacks a drive-through option. That said, parking tends to be plentiful in the big plaza this location is a part-of so it isn't a big worry. Overall this is a fantastic Bread Company/Panera and I would recommend visiting it should you hunger for some food. read more

I recently used the Rapid Order option. Ordered online the afternoon before for 6:15 am pickup. I got there on time but my order wasn't ready yet. I waited 10-15 minutes. Not too long but I think it should have been ready. There was one guy that was working rapidly to get the order ready (18 bagels sliced) and another getting my toasted sandwich ready after I got there. I have been going here for a long time, mostly out of convenience, and because my son loves their soup. But this location is hit or miss. Delivery has always been pretty good, and if they make a mistake they rectify it fairly quickly. What lost my third star was when I went in to pick up my rapid pick up order. It was sitting on the shelf behind the counter when I got there, and the person working the counter was not there at that particular moment, understandable since they probably have other responsibilities, but the girls making the sandwiches looked right at me several times and ignored me. I didn't even get a "someone will be with you in a minute" since clearly the registers weren't under their job descriptions. Instead, I got their attention to try and ask them to hand me my order which was just sitting there, and got an "I can't help you I don't work register," from some snotty red head. As my 9 year old son and I walked out together he turned and looked at me and said "Mom, that lady was kind of rude." It's pretty sad when even a child knows that behavior is unacceptable. So, in the future, our business will probably be going elsewhere. read more
