After the most disappointing sandwich of my life I hate to do it Panera, but I'm changing my rating to 1 star. I paid $10 for this sorry excuse of a sandwich (see photo). I also waited nearly 10 minutes at the drive thru window with nobody behind me. The sandwich is supposed to have a basil white bean purée, sliced mozzarella, parmesan, arugula, smoked tomato confit, fresh basil, a balsamic glaze, and salt and pepper. It had a very small chunk of tomato, an even smaller chunk of mozzarella, a lot of arugula and no basil or parmesan. I had to practically dig to find anything in the sandwich beyond the arugula and the bread was rock hard to boot. If I had been in the restaurant I would have requested a refund and an apology. This is seriously a gross display of ineptitude when it comes to making a sandwich and then charging me $10 dollars for it! Highway robbery. What a disappointment. Here are some TIPs. Breakfast items such as egg soufflés run out quickly, only a certain amount are made within the hour to preserve freshness. All breads, bagels and pastries are baked daily. On Tuesdays we have bagel deals (bakers dozen only 6.99+ tax , add a tub of cream cheese on the side 1.99) Side note: they don't warm anything that has icing or gooey texture on it. It was mentioned that the toasters are designed for bagels or bread slices, and the ovens for heated sandwiches. I got so excited when they opened a Panera near my place! After a few visits I came to conclusion that it's delicious but it's just not worth for the tiny portion they offer. Let's be real it's not cheap. Souplantation is just across the street and it's all you can eat for $10. Their salad, bread and bagels are good but their soup is NOT as good as Souplantation. If you decided to dine in, the service is super slow. Also the drive thru sucks. I came through the correct way the first time and some idiot cut into my line. So I am here thinking maybe I was wrong so I should drive out and drive back in the other way. As I was driving back in another idiot cut in. Who design this stupid drive thru!? On top of that the drive thru is sooooooo SLOW!! I would NOT come back often. Maybe when I am feeling rich and craving for some fancy sandwiches ,I would not come for the other over priced food, but the only thing worth coming for is the tuesday dozen bagel and that is something I don't eat too often. This is my first time at this location. They have 5 kiosks where you can place your order or you can order at the counter. My sister and I ordered at the kiosk. I charged the order to my card and took the tracker number to a table to wait. We waited about 30 minutes before we went to ask someone about our order. The employee then said that the kiosks weren't working and that our order wasn't processed. The order wasn't received, but my card was still charged. The kiosks weren't working, but you don't put a sign up to let customers know? Employees were walking around and they see someone ordering at the kiosk, yet they didn't say anything. One manager (Vanessa) asked us if we still wanted to place the order for food or if we wanted a refund. I asked for a refund. She asked for the last name on the card and she walked away. We waited another 10 minutes before another manager (William) came out and asked us if we were waiting for a refund. We said yes and that Vanessa had left and didn't come back. He went to check on the refund status and came back and told us that Vanessa had processed the refund, that it would go back on the card. But she didn't bother to come out and tell us. As he was telling us this, there were a couple of people looking at the kiosks, but no employee told them anything. (We weren't the only ones complaining. While waiting for our order that was never placed, a couple a few tables over were complaining to an employee about how they waited more than 30 minutes and they had not gotten their food) read more

Careful with their turkey sandwich containing bacon. I believe their bacon is bad. 3 of my family members are suffering from food poisoning. I split a sandwich with my wife. Since she doesn't care for bacon, she gave it to my daughter and she ate it. I ate the bacon in the sandwich. My son also ordered a sandwich with bacon. We are all extremely sick. I tried calling the store to let them know, but there was no answer. I won't be going back. One star is only to add review 3 days now sick. I absolutely love sandwiches so I thought Panera would be the place to go for a quick dinner with my husband. They were all out of breads, they had only one choice-- something I've never even heard of & the sales associate doesn't tell us until AFTER we've paid. She said she can scrap up some sourdough to make one sandwich. We get our food & only half of my sandwich is sourdough. The turkey was dry & I had chunks instead of sliced turkey. We paid almost $30 for two sandwiches that were mediocre, at the most. To add on to them being out of certain breads, we also heard the sales associate tell another party that they were out of breads, but not until after they paid as well-- when it was the same exact breads they were out of less than 10 minutes ago. I was coming home from work today and decided to grab dinner for my family. I stopped at panera to grab our favorites such as the mac and cheese, black bean soup, BLT and Chicken Caesar Salad sandwich. I walked in and was immediately greeted with smiles from the staff, which was refreshing after a hard day a work. It was great to walk in to get dinner and the experience to be calming and easy for me. I was able to actually talk to the manager, I think her name was Beverly, and she was the sweetest. She was very compassionate with the other customers. The staff seemed very happy as well. AND I GOT THE PUMPKIN MUFFIE, had to add that! Anyways, will definitely make sure to travel the extra miles to this particular location just for the service that I received today. read more

Took about 30 minutes to get my food and saw quite a few people who ordered way after me getting their food first. This is the second time I visit this location. This review is for the DRIVE THRU. On the first we had to return because our order was I incomplete. This second time the person taking our order was very "unenthusiastic". She clearly did not want to be there. She did not ask "bread, apple or chips" and we had to go back because we did not get a spoon for our soup. It was also the first time that I disliked my food, which I always order the same thing. All I need to say "chunks of chicken fat/skin" Also my daughter's tomato soup had tomato skin which freaked her out because the consistency was off. I'm going to start off by saying this was my first time to any "Panera Bread". So i dont know if this is the norm. I went in and ordered a simple (or so I thought) order of a chipotle chicken avocado melt. It took almost 20min for me to get my order. The floor staff were just looking busy. And being polite. So my gripe is not with them, but the kitchen staff. I have no idea why it takes 20min to make a sandwich. It was not busy at all. It took so long that I got tired of waiting and decided to get it to go. Which took longer. I also noticed there is a drive through. I feel sorry for the people in line there that have to wait that long or even longer for multiple orders. Perhaps that is why I only saw one car in the drive through line. Never going back to this location or any Panera Bread for that matter if the average wait time for a sandwich is 20min. I'd rather go to a full fledged restaurant if I'm going to wait that long for a meal. Such a let down. P.s. the 2nd Star is only because the floor staff were nice and polite. read more

First of all, who ever it was in the City of Alhambra planning dept that approved this design and location, I hope you were bribed very well, because good lord this is going to cause so many accidents and traffic issues. You cannot access the business well from the main street it is on, Commonwealth, but people will try and it will be a mess. Also the parking lot is really narrow, gonna be a lot of fender-benders. No idea how this could possibly be up to city codes. The place is new and clean. They are going for a Starbucks vibe, I saw a lot of people just hanging out at tables with laptops and papers and stuff, which is nice if you want a place to hang out. My problem with Panera is that the food is basically a salt-lick and way over priced. I was reminded of that on this visit. A caprese sandwich that is mostly bread and tomato mix, little cheese, and probably has a week's worth of salt in it. Baja mac and cheese was just a lame mac and cheese (also loaded with salt) with avocado and tomatoes on top. At 1/2 the price it would be a decent deal, but nothing great. Overall, I would avoid this place as your car is likely to get dinged up getting in or parking.... and the food is overpriced and not very good anyway. read more

Went through the drive thru, and it was kind of slow. Good thing I wasn't in a rush. It has a good drive thru entrance, so many cars can fit in line. The screen doesn't show your order or total, but the staff was friendly. I thought the food was kind of pricey, but it tasted good. I haven't been to a Panera Bread for a while, so if this is how all locations are these days, I may have to stay away. I'll echo what another Yelper said about this place, in that they pretty much want to copy the Starbucks atmosphere and layout. It's structured in a way that they want you to stay here, do your work ("write your inspiring screenplay on your Macbook Air"), and spend money on their expensive food. I don't remember the last time I spent $10-15 on a sandwich, nor another $10+ on soup, or $10+ on salads. Insane. They were at least delicious though. The kiosks that they have sounds like a good idea to expedite the service, but I feel like they could use more of them or something. There's like 30 people crowded around a few kiosks during a busy lunch break. I don't see myself coming here too often, but who knows. Pro-tip: Apparently, you can even order through their mobile app while you're at a table and they will bring your food out to you. So this is a plus if you suffer from social anxiety and don't want to talk to anyone. read more

This ownership or management of this place must have changed over the past year. I came in at 0600 to just pickup a couple scones. When I entered, there were bags of items laid out on the counter. Must have been for pickups later in the morning. In any case, the person behind the counter did not acknowledge my presence. Not to even say "hello", or "we'll be with you in just a moment". No. I waited 5 plus minutes at the register and the workers knew I was standing there, but NEVER acknowledged me. I decided they were TOO busy to have the politeness to say "hello", so I just left. Came here even after reading the reviews. Egg sandwiches pictured everywhere - but they are out of eggs. Womp womp. I got a cinnamon roll to eat on the patio and it was dry and a bit tough - maybe yesterday's. On a plate would have been nicer since I was going to sit there and eat it - ended up chewing it out of the bag. I have never complained about your food. Today I have no option but to tell you that I picked up a salad this morning, Greek salad and a bagel. My order was not correct and the salad got tossed. Specifically asked for a toasted and sliced plain bagel. It was sliced, not toasted and no butter. The salad lettuce was dirty and old. It tasted like leftovers from previous date. It was black from moisture. I took a bite and immediately knew it was not good. About the only good thing was the half baguette. I tried calling for a manager, no one picks up with multiple tries. Bread and pastries are excellent. Servers are friendly and efficient. Like the flavorful bowls and the breakfast souffles. My big issue is with the soups. Consistently all chicken based soups have little or no pieces of chicken, that's a turnoff! read more

I placed an online order for in store pick up today. My daughter went in to pick it up. The bags are clearly marked with our name on it. An employee asked if that was her order and asked for the order/confirmation number. My daughter felt that she was being accused of trying to steal the order and that it was due to her race. Disappointed. I ordered a take two salad and mac n cheese a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll for a dollar. When ordering i asked for sugar in the side the bagett for the take two because they did not ask and specifically asked for butter. I paid and i was advised everything was in my bag as i pulled off i checked to make sure i had the butter. For some reason they ALWAYS forget this. So i then went back in line to just get the butter but the drive thru line was fairly long however its ok because its just butter. What i did not appreciate was the attitude given to me about the butter. I advised about me previously ordering and that the butter was forgotten so im just picking it up. At the window (different from who took my order) she began to tell me that "butter is only given if requested". What bothers me is that I DID REQUEST IT. I shop at panera enough to know butter is given upon request. This was an error on the staff for not placing it the bag to begin with and i waited about 10 mins for it why i received the attitude idk but defiantly uncalled for.
