Like most things that PE touches, Panera as a chain has been going downhill. Don't even go to my hometown one anymore. Fool me once... In Abilene for work and hotel breakfast is awful, so decided why not. Welcome to the last good Panera! Everything on the menu was in stock and fresh out of the oven. Soufflé tasted like they're supposed to. Orange scone was a little overglazed for me, but baked just right. Staff was super friendly and helpful when I needed another receipt copy. Wow! 1st ordered half BLT Chx Avc Sandwich & tea to go. Charged $17.08 Thought about it. Then asked what part of half sandwich is worth $17? The young cashier apologized very sweetly& got manager. Manager corrected but without an apology or any nicety whatsoever! Then after I opened my order down the road, it was soggy, no bacon, no grilled chicken, VERY COLD! Stopped by to try their croissant sandwich. It was really good. Surprisingly good. Staff were great, especially Misti. Great service is lacking in a lot of places these days so it is nice and refreshing to have the food correct (with my modifications) and the kindness of staff. Will definitely go back. read more

My last 2 visits to this Panera would probably earn 4-4.5 stars but would've been 5 stars if the prices were more reasonable (I get it... bad inflation + bad economy = everything is expensive) but I'm rounding up to 5 because they have a poor rating right now. I contributed to that (my first 2 visits resulted in no food, wasted time and 1 star) but they seem to be on the ball now! We ordered a Green Goddess Chicken Cobb Salad and a Mediterranean Chicken Greens with Grains and both were very generous portions and very good! The Mediterranean could've used more actual grains but the Green Goddess had lots of perfectly ripe avocado! I ordered with the Panera app for pick up at the counter and it was ready less than a minute after I walked in the door! We didn't order drinks but I noticed that they have a large selection of sodas, teas, coffee's, etc that I might have to try next time! read more

it is kind of like Walmart self service check out except Walmart does it better. No one is at the counter to take your order so you must use the kiosk to place your own order. Two times now I have placed a specific salad order, at the pick up window it was done incorrectly. The first time they remade it no problem. This time I received a lecture as to how "on their end" the order was done correctly. When I assured her "on my end" I entered the order correctly she said the manager said they would just have to toss it and lose money and they will not remake it. I was hesitant to try this Panera because of the other reviews.... But... They have a drive thru! We ordered the Mediterranean veggie sandwich and a flat bread pizza. Both were really tasty. Sandwich was good with soft bread and fresh ingredients. The flatbread was hot and loaded with toppings. I'll return to this location. read more

Update: 20min later I just walked in a it was there and now the soup isn't hot anymore. Sooooo, no. I will not be returning. Currently waiting for curbside pickup. Sadly, this Panera once again strikes out... This is my 3rd try since they have been open thinking "by now they have to have worked out all their operating kinks" alas, they have not. The first time I went was a couple weeks after opening and they were out of almost everything. The second time about 2 months later, they served me a different (although similar) sandwich. I didn't complain then as they were busy and mistakes sometimes happen. This time I ordered half a chicken salad sandwich and received a slice of white bread, 5 particles (yes, tiny pieces) of lettuce, and about a tablespoon of chicken salad. See the pictures. I don't think I will be spending anymore $ at this location...Back to the metroplex for a Panera fix we go. read more

Well to start the we're out of everything we were gonna order, macaroni, soup etc. so we changed the order were very disappointed. The soup we got was very cold, and the grilled cheese was terrible... big waste of money. I held Panera to a higher standard and expected it from what I experienced in the past at other locations. Went to the Panera drive thru and ordered two chipotle chicken avocado melts with chips, and two large strawberry lemon mint drinks. We showed up at 12:00pm and was told to wait on the side of the building for our order. I waited for a total of 30 minutes and no one brought me my order. After I went inside and asked where it was I was told that it was ready. Had I not gone in there, there's no telling how long I would've had to wait. AND it wasn't even busy. So , I was confused as to why I had to wait that long for two sandwiches. I don't think the price is worth the service and time waited. The sandwich was just okay, but I do really love their caffeinated beverages. The cashier that helped me offered me a free pastry. Which was nice but overall, I don't think I will be going back to Panera for a while. read more

Terrible customer service! I ordered 3 mango smoothies and they tasted like the beanboozled throw up jelly beans. I asked for a different flavor and they would not exchange them without charging me again. They also forgot my son's baguette that I ordered and didn't give us any plastic ware. The manager wanted to argue with me and say that there is no place that would give out free food. That is simply a lie, if your food tastes like freaking throw up, they should reimburse you or give you something g else to make the customer happy, but no, he wanted to charge me again. I just went through the drive-through line, it took a little bit to get to the front but they were busy. They were very nice and friendly my food is hot, everyone is wearing a mask and everybody is trying their best. Good review for me. UPDATE: I dont know why I do this to myself - I tried to order again because I like papanras food - but these people simply DO NOT CARE what they are doing!! I am on oxygen - I cant leave my house easily - so they send the wrong drinks for delivery. They say Doordash just took the wrong drinks, that the deliveries are just on a shelf unsupervised and they let the delivery people come and go freely without supervision and they can take whatever they want. Doordash says panara gives them the orders (which I think is more plausible) and gave them the wrong drinks. I called Panara and miracle of miracles they answered their phone! I gave them my card info and possibly I'm going to get a refund, who knows. It is Panaras responsibility to make this right. If they were careless and let the wrong drink be taken or if they made the wrong drink it is on them. I am THEIR customer. THEY employed a third party delivery service so if THEIR agent makes a mistake it is still on them! In my business if the post office loses something in the mail I send to MY customer I make it right however the customer wants! They should remake the drinks and pay the driver to get them to me. Why should the driver have to use his time for free to correct THEIR mistake?? But here I still have no drinks and no one wants to take the responsibility to make the order right. I am DONE with Panara and I will NEVER use doordash again! read more

went today and the doors were locked, another lady in front of us called to tell them they were locked and we all were at the door trying to get in ( 5 of us customers ) they were arguing on the phone with her that we all didn't know how to open the door cause it wasn't locked, they finally come to the door and were so rude. Then when we got to the front they refused to wait on us. two other parties decided to leave, when the MANAGER finally came to the register to help us she was awful! my daughter told her after we placed the order that she might would like to check the door that they are locked, she got so mad and (raised her voice) and assured they were unlocked cause she unlocked them herself that we all dont know how to open a door. my daughter at that time was like excuse me? you will not talk to me like that and she told us to get the help out of HER store, so we turned to leave and she proceeded to follow us out yelling at us. Shouldn't be out of coffee. This is yet another instance of just really poor interactions and service at this location. Hard to even list them all in one paragraph. I really wanted Jason's Deli but their parking lot in Abilene is ridiculous so I thought I would give Panera a try. Bad mistake. Ordered French onion soup and chicken salad sandwich. The soup tastes like it had sugar in it, the worst I've ever had. I received a grilled chicken sandwich, I thought I would try it, tasted really bad, went to the counter and they bring me a chicken salad that was all celery and barely any chicken , and it tasted not very good.
