This review is for Panda Exteriors, 14700 Old Gunpowder Rd, Laurel Maryland. After extensive research for a new roof including in person quotes, Panda Exteriors stood out from the rest. They were highly recommended by a friend and I found the recommendation to be so. From initial contact with Mo, the local Fairfax representative of the company, they were immediately responsive and helpful. The roof worked out great. They were timely, neat, efficient. I signed a contract on April 21, 2026 to replace the roof, and added replacing the gutters as well. The salesman (Mr. Coyle) spoke with my insurance company and they agree to pay for partial replacement (repair). I gave the salesman a deposit of over $5,000 including half of the insurance settlement. Today is the 13th of August and no work has been started, no supplies have been delivered, the salesman will no longer answer my emails and the telephone for the company office appears to be disconnected (it has a funny sounding busy signal). When I was able to speak with the salesman, he always had several excuses ready, such as waiting for an answer from the insurance agent about replacing plywood, which he said did not meet current code requirements. My insurance agent replied to him 3 times that the plywood would not be covered by the claim since he did not prove it was damaged. It has been over 30 days since my last contact, when I informed the salesman that unless the job was started before the end of July, I wanted to cancel the contract and get my deposit back. I have heard nothing from the salesman or the company since that call. I receive no replies to my emails (I have sent 13 without a response since July 15th). I just received a letter from an attorney threatening me with legal action if I did not pay the balance due on the job immediately. When I informed his office that I was not paying anything since the job had not been started yet, all he said was for me to call the company. Mt assumption is that this company is a fraudulent scam and I suggest you STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM. read more

Today was the first day of a three day roof replacement, including solar panel detachment and reattachment by Panda Exteriors and I've already run into deceptive and unethical sales practices, and worse. 1) We were told by the salesman, and shown pictures, of several sheets of plywood that supposedly contained black mold. This is a very serious health situation that was not adequately conveyed to the Project Manager. There was nothing in his specs that addressed identifying the sheets with black mold and removing them since that supposedly can't be seem on the exterior of the plywood according to the PM. The salesperson identified 5+ sheets of plywood that would cost an additional $125 per sheet. 2) I was told by the installation coordinator within Panda that all of my questions would be answered by the PM BEFORE the project was started, it was not. The salespeople literally left the PM in the lurch because he was not able to answer most of my questions. 3) As of today, I've stopped the project until my questions could be answered. 4) The salesperson told us that that our 50 solar panels would be detached Day 1, the roof installed Day 2, and the panels reinstalled Day 3. Today we found out that the reattachment would not occur till the following week. This was NEVER mentioned by the salesperson or in the prior to construction "what to expect" email. 5) We were told by sales that once the panels were detached they would be "stored" till after the new roof was installed. Apparently Panda has a different understanding of the word "stored" than most people. The panels were stacked in our backyard. Again, another deceptive sales practice. Apparently stacking the panels in the yard is a standard practice but Panda made that claim to ensure a sale. 6) The sales person told us the detachment and reattachment of the panels was conducted within their company so that there was in essence only "one throat to choke" if there was a problem. That was yet another lie as the folks who did that today were an LLC. This was a specific point we had with the salesperson because there was another roof replacement company 4000K cheaper that had solar panels detached and reattached by a third party. Well that is in essence what Panda does but they claim the solar people are part of their company. 6) And finally, I was told that I would be contacted today by one of the owners, Scott Tucker, who would address all of my concerns and that never happened as of 6:00 tonight, thus the reason for my "hold" on the roof shingle rip off and new shingle installation. We are what was called a "Golden Pledge" at a cost of $44,000 with one plywood sheet included. Any other sheets would cost $125 per sheet. This is the way Panda Exteriors treat it'S highest paying roof replacement customers. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! I SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER RESEARCH ON THEM. read more

I reached out to Panda Exterior for a roof repair quote after storm damage. Instead of providing an estimate, I was told they wouldn't quote the job unless I first engaged a specific public adjuster they referred me to, who charges a 7.5% contingency fee on the claim. I wasn't looking for adjusting services, I just wanted a repair quote and being told I couldn't get one without agreeing to bring on a third party felt like an unnecessary and unwelcome condition. I would avoid hiring Panda Exteriors and here is why. First the positives: they worked well with my insurance company to get the roof replaced after a bad storm and the quality of the roof seems OK from what I can see. Also their crew were efficient and professional. So that was good. The reason for my low rating is the DISMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE before and after the work was done. They were way behind the promised timeline (by approx 4 weeks) and did not have the courtesy to call and explain the reason for the delay. I kept calling them and they kept passing me from one individual to another but not once did they return my call! I understand there may be reasons for the delay such as weather conditions, etc., but the lack of courtesy and the indifference to the customer's concerns are completely unacceptable behaviors! Also after the roof was installed there was another storm that peeled off part of the trim just below the roof. I contacted them and sent them photos of the damage, which I thought was included in the warranty. I heard nothing back for two weeks and when I called to enquire I was told that the damage was not included in the warranty; again, zero courtesy and total disregard of customer's concerns. Scheduled an appt for a post storm roof inspection. The day prior the contractor called and asked for our insurance policy to see how many shingles must be damaged in order to qualify for a roof replacement claim. They then told me they won't do an inspection unless they know how much damage they need to find to charge insurance. Panda Exterior completed a roofing and plywood update on my home. Diego, the sales representative, was professional and responsive at first. He convinced us to upgrade the type of roof and materials, which we agreed to. I began reaching out about the final payment, even though our insurance claim process was not yet completed. Cristel and Gaurav both told me they would follow up on our claim, but I never heard back from either of them. To make matters worse, their attorney later sent a letter demanding a final payment that is incorrect. Despite multiple attempts to get clarification, I have received no response from either the company or my insurance regarding the plywood claim they convinced us to approve on the installation date. This has been one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I've ever had. The company has shown no accountability or honesty in resolving billing and claim issues. ​I am posting this to warn fellow homeowners to closely examine every single line item on their insurance supplements when working with Panda Exteriors. My experience revealed a massive discrepancy between what they billed and what was actually performed on my home. ​ Panda Exteriors billed the insurance company for significant work that never happened: ​Removal and replacement of gutters and downspouts. ​Installation of a new drip edge. ​Their own documentation claimed the gutters had to be replaced because they were spiked into the fascia. The reality? They never touched the gutters. When I confronted them, their supplement team eventually admitted in writing that they billed for gutter work that was never performed. Despite this, their public response was to claim that "documentation does not reflect the scope of work," essentially gaslighting the situation until I presented the physical proof and their own team's admission. ​ Charging an insurance company for materials and labor that were never delivered is a serious lack of integrity. We're now denied on a new claim after actual damage from a hail storm we had because they said we never fixed the issues from the first claim that was denied. Panda Exterior completed a roofing job on my home, and while the process started off well, it quickly went downhill once the work was done. Diego, the sales rep, was professional and responsive throughout the project--but completely stopped replying once it was finished and I began reaching out about final payment and a possible refund for unused materials. Cristel Gutierrez and Gaurav Goyal both told me they would follow up with me and send an email with details, but I never heard back from either of them. Eventually, I received a final bill, but when I called to confirm the amount, I was shocked to find that they were now asking for more than what the invoice stated. Jonathan, the project manager, was kind but couldn't give me any clarity either. It has now been over a month with no resolution--no emails, no returned calls, and no transparency. Taj from Panda Exteriors he suggested we contact our insurance agency and we did the adjustor came out cut a part check and said you have 2 years to complete the process, okay we decided to look into a total rebuild of your home and we explained this to Panda Exterior but, that's where the harassment and bullying began, we were getting phones calls every three day for a week, then him telling us that's how he put food on the table for his family and NOW Panda invoice us for $3500!!! This company has poor customer service and shotty work. after signing the contract i was promised scheduling within 2-4 weeks. When i didnt hear anyyhing after 3 weeks i began calling to see the issue. I received no response until week 5. When an appt date was finally set up i was told that someone would be out 1st to do the fascia board and than the rest of the team will put up the gutters later that day. No one came to do the gutters. It took 2 days to get a team out. They showed up at 7 am and woke us up. When they were setting up in the back we asked them to please do the front so we could let our dogs out. They said they were almost done. They completed the back gutter and left without a word. I called the company to tell them the front gutter wasnt done. Just back n forth or no responses for 2 weeks. Finally i called to say i wasnt paying the remaining balance. A supv called asking for 1 more chance. They asked for a week to find space on schedule. Didnt hear anything for a week and 2 days. Than was told they would call me when they could fit me in again. A team randomly showed up a week later without notice and was turned away because my husband was walking out the door. I called the supv to reschedule and ask why we werent told they were coming. No response for 3 days. I finally got in touch w a supv and they said their not doing the job because we turned them away. This is after months of me contacting them. They said asking the team to move to the front so my dogs could go to the bathroom counted as asking them to leave and they will no longer do business with us. read more

Horrible company! I contacted this company multiple times asking them to stop coming to my house to solicit. They send multiple people out to walk neighborhoods and knock on doors, sometimes 2 and 3 times per day. Last year they had multiple negative reviews on Google ranging from misuse of the homeowners insurance to poor work quality. It appears the have removed the negative reviews. This company is a textbook example of everything that's wrong with shady contractors operating under a fake veneer of professionalism. They showed up pitching themselves as some elite, "Fortune 500-level" company with a perfect BBB rating and five-star service. What I got was a deeply manipulative, borderline fraudulent experience that put my home, insurance, and peace of mind at serious risk. Here's the scam: They claim to offer free roof inspections, then mysteriously "find" storm damage you didn't know you had, because you didn't. In my case, there hadn't even been a storm. They insisted the damage was significant and needed to be handled ASAP, offering to "deal with the insurance company" for me. That's when it got sketchy. Turns out, after I brought in an independent roofing inspector, the so-called "storm damage" was highly suspicious, consistent with intentional tampering. In other words, it looked like this company had gotten on my roof and created the damage themselves to justify an insurance claim. Yes, really. It doesn't stop there. They padded their repair estimate with outrageous costs and tried to steamroll me into signing paperwork that would've given them full control over my insurance payout. When I asked for time to review the details, they got defensive, even aggressive. Big red flag. What's worse? As I started doing more research and speaking up, I noticed that other negative reviews seem to vanish or are buried. Makes you wonder how many people they've fooled into silence or submission. I've since filed a formal complaint with my state's insurance fraud division and reported the company to the BBB (though I'm not holding my breath based on how many five-star reviews seem suspiciously fake). Be wary of these folks. They showed up to my house yesterday and told me my roof was badly in need of repair because it had discontinued shingles. He kept trying to tell me they had a short lifetime. When I pressed him on what kind of shingles they were, he had no idea and kept telling me they were bad. Little did they know we just had our whole replaced last year with new 35+ year shingles and I checked and GAF still sells them so they definitely have not been discontinued. I wasn't planning to write a review but Panda Exteriors recent harassment has pushed me over the edge. A few months ago, a sales guy named Andy stopped by to look at our roof. My husband and I are new homeowners and he took advantage of that. In order to inspect our roof, Andy said he needed my husband to agree to check in out. My husband agreed to let him look. Andy then signed an agreement on my husbands behalf which he misrepresented. He said it was only to look at the roof but it turned out to be a binding agreement for Panda to replace it if insurance agreed to replace it. Andy signed the agreement without showing it to my husband, and spelled his name wrong. Sidenote - If you ever sign an agreement like this you have 72 hours to cancel without being bound by it. Our roof is older and insurance agreed to cover it. From day one I felt like Panda was predatory and warned my husband against them. Even our insurance agent (after the fact) commented that he has not heard positive things about Panda but can not advise on who we work with. Even though insurance was going to cover a new roof we were not prepared to move forward. It was not in immediate need of replacement and due to external life factors we could not move forward immediately. My husband notified Andy that we needed to pause, and he immediately started getting threating messages from him. Andy threatened to send us to collections for over $3,000 - turns out this was in the agreement Andy signed on our behalf. To clarify, we never canceled we asked to take a pause. After my husband went back and forth with Andy over a few days, I finally connected on the phone with his supervisor. I walked through how we were mislead on the contract, which my husband never signed himself, and the threating messages we had been receiving from Andy. After a long conversation we were finally released from the agreement. I feel fortunate I understood the legal recourse and knew what to say on the phone to get out of it. Not everyone would be in the same position so I feel it is important to warn others against this company and make people aware of their predatory practices. Since we were released from the agreement, I wasn't initially planning to write a negative review. But over the past few months I have been getting harassed with multiple sales calls a day from Panda. I has asked them on multiple occasions to be removed from their list but the calls continue. The second I hang up asking to be removed they call back and call me by another name. It's exhausting so today I filled a complaint with the FCC and decided to write this review. I don't often have the opportunity in these interesting and challenging times to write such a review. So, I will take full advantage of this opportunity. I live in a Penthouse in Bethesda, MD. I had the good fortune to be recommended to Panda Exteriors. However, my friend expressly referred to Tommy Hall (Field Operations Manager ) and his assistants (Osvin, Andy, and Edras). I have a rather large balcony that requires roof and decking repairs. Tommy is an excellent asset to his organization. Tommy has given great insight to his assistants concerning procedures, work ethic, and extra care with items in the house and balcony. Before the work, Tommy provided me with precise, accurate, informative, and necessary info about the job. He answered every single question that I had and, more importantly, communicated in detail what and why specific procedures would be implemented. His staff worked very cleanly, were extremely polite, and went the extra mile to ensure everything was handled carefully. We had white carpeting leading to the balcony, and they ensured every inch was covered with plastic. My wife had over 25 delicate plants that were handled with extreme caution. I am 77 years old and still work because I love what I do, although I have cut back to 35 - 40 or so hours compared to the 60- 70 hours I used to work. Tommy, it is quite evident, also loves what he does. Tommy and his staff are incredible. He is highly knowledgeable and, more importantly, demonstrates a desire to be helpful, insightful, caring, direct, patient, honest, and a gentleman. He also provides a plethora of helpful information. Tommy's follow-up is remarkable. Tommy" says what he means and means what he says." Over 54 years, I have met thousands of businesspeople, but as I described, Tommy and his crew are the only people I will deal with. When pointing out the sign, he said "I saw the sign, but ignored it," and went on to talk about how he works with others in our neighborhood, and wanted to push his sales pitch on us. I told him that we have the no soliciting sign for a reason, and he continued to push his sales pitch on us, until I threatened to report him to the county. I found the individual to be rude, and disrespectful. When I asked him to leave, he should have said done just that, not continued to push. I know he has a job, and I don't begrudge him that, but when someone says no thank you, it's time to push off. The company owes me $50 for soliciting since their representative knocked on my door and started asking questions about the condition of my roof after saying he was broke and had no money (at first I thought he was just begging for money until he asked about my roof then it became clear that he read the sign and ignored it). I asked him and eventually his partner (he was supposedly a first day trainee) for the credentials they were supposed to carry and they didn't have any but said the company had the required credentials and paperwork at the office. At that moment there were no missing shingles or visible damage. They got up there and i heard some noises. I was supposed to work with Panda Exteriors (PE) for my roofing project until I got weirded out by their refusal to give me a detailed quotation. PE told me, "it doesn't work that way. you give us the full amount that your insurance will pay for and we'll work with that." So I checked with my insurance if I should just turnover the full amount to PE and they told me that I should get a detailed quote before I forward any money to PE to make sure that the work they will do on my roof is exactly what my insurance is willing to pay for because I will be responsible for any supplemental charges that maybe incurred. PE finally acquiesced and gave me a quote and it was the most expensive among all the other quotes I received. Why would a company not be willing to give a detailed quotation? That was my "red flag" moment. When I told PE that I am no longer using their company for my roof, they tried to intimidate me by having their lawyer send me a letter collecting $3500 because initial work was supposedly already done. I did not appreciate the language of the letter especially because it stated that if didn't pay up, I will be sued and will not only pay for the $3,500 but also for whatever interest will accrue for every month that I don't pay as well as my lawyer's and their own legal fees!!!! Upon checking with DPOR (VA regulatory arm that issues licenses for contractors), I found out that whatever service agreement I signed with PE is null and void because there was no specific "cancellation" clause included in the verbiage of the contract which is a requirement as stipulated in Part V (Standards of Practice and Conduct) under the Board of Contractors Regulations. Apparently in the state of VA, a customer must be made aware of their right to a 3-day Notice of Decision in writing either on the service agreement itself (that's the cancellation clause) or on a separate document. Either way, PE did not inform me of my right, which is another red flag. There were other reasons that made me back out of my agreement to work with PE but I decided not to write about it here anymore because the space is way too limited. The purpose of this review is to educate people on what they need to look for when thinking of hiring future home contractors. To whoever gets to read this review, I want to caution you to protect yourself. If I were you, I would think twice before hiring Panda Exteriors. Thank you! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My family had a HORRIBLE experience with one of their so called "project consultant" from the Reston, Virginia office Mr. Andy Loor. My family was looking to replace our home roof, a big home improvement investment. I had initially thought working with Panda Exteriors and Mr. Andy Loor was going to be a great idea, however, it was a complete nightmare. Our representative Mr. Loor was just a unprofessional and disrespectful individual and it showed. He apparently thought I had signed a contract with him later turned out his own supervisor Greg Marcus confirmed over email that in fact I never signed a contract with him despite Andy saying I did. So, forgery can be also added to this incompetent individual skill set. He failed to provide an estimate invoice for the roof after asking for it on several occasions. How do you expect me to work with you if you cant even produce a PDF estimate? Not just that, he would throw off random different numbers over text message on how much the roof replacement would cost. Like who does that? My final straw with him when I had informed him that I would not be working with him moving forward. This resulted in him calling and texting me non-stop threatening me with legal action and yelling profanity at me. Really? I should pursue legal action against you Mr. let me forge a customer signature. With all this going on, Mr. Loor just cant comprehend that I do not want to work with him. What does he decide to do, drive up unannounced and uninvited to my house with a fellow employee trying to intimidate me by waving his fake contract in my face, threatening me with "legal action" or pay $3,500.00 for apparently visiting my home "40 times" yea sure you did. The nonsense he came up with is just complete fiction. After all his back and forth he and his buddy were quickly escorted off my home for trespassing and I informed him if he ever dares to step a foot back on my property ever again I will call the police and purse legal action on him myself. After this whole ordeal, Andy and his fellow employee friend decide to hang around and solicit on the street and smoke until I had called one of their supervisors on what their employees were doing in my neighborhood street and what ordeal I had just gone through with them two. Their operations senior managers are just as bad as their project consultants they do not take anything serious no apologies no accountability just completely useless. One last note I will make, is that, Mr. Loor is so far corrupt that on the very next day of him leaving my house in dispute he called and gave out my cell phone number without my permission to one of his old buddies named "Marco" at MLM roofing his former employer another roofing contractor in Northern Virginia and having him call me and try to convince me to work with MLM and getting my roof replaced with them. He was quickly dismissed as well. In my all years of going through contractors, I've never seen such an unprofessional company and disrespectful employees till now. They are the low of the low! Due to Mr. Andy Loor negligence our roof replacement was stalled by two months due to him not knowing how to do his job properly. I hope this shady company gets shut down by the Virginia Attorney General and gets investigated by the Better Business Bureau. Now I see why this company has a 2.5 stars on Yelp. Panda was a subcontractor of Tesla to install the first solar roof in Arlington, MA. Panda came out the first day and stripped the roof and put on the underlayment in 1 day. They cleaned up afterwards and did a great job. The onsite project lead told me about the gutters needed and we set that up for a date after the solar roof was installed by the Tesla crew. During the middle of the process, the Panda production manager kept in touch with me as there were the inevitable Covid-era material delays, and as soon as they had what they needed they were here on time. The Panda Exteriors gutter crew came out and installed the beautiful black gutters that match the color of the solar roof within about 3 hours on the day they said they would show up. They checked with us on a couple of aesthetic choices with the downspout placement and it looks great. I highly recommend Panda Exteriors for these kinds of jobs. read more

A subcontractor of Tesla energy, they removed the old roof very quickly and a decent job. But the project manager is just a lier, he claimed without a wider gutter(6" instead of 3"), my solar roof project can't pass the inspection, so I bought the wider gutter, paid 1/3 of the cost and he promised to be installed right after my solar roof is installed. Called after the roof was up and he said the gutter would be installed on the Thursday the next week, obviously no one showed up on the following Thursday. Messaged him again about the installation, he said he didn't aware of any schedule change. Then another text message said the material has been transported, that was two weeks ago and I still don't see the material. Obviously not a plan when the gutter will be installed. read more

I had a great experience working with Panda Exteriors. A friend of mine recommended I call them because I was in need of a roof repair. AJ Bahra reached out promptly, came to do an inspection and worked directly with my Insurance company to get things started. He made the process smooth and easy. I was provided great information as to each step in the process. One thing I hate is to be unsure of what's going on and not knowing what to expect...no problem at all with this group. The project manager, Jonathan Gonzalez also provided great information, calling me ahead of time to explain how things would go and when to expect the team. He kept me informed of their progress as we had some rain, so they had to stop for a short time. They were also very careful not to remove the entire old roof due to the impending rain. They were very prompt and professional. I originally called panda exteriors to get an estimate, as I was getting a few from local companies. I met Matt DeMarco when he came out to give me an estimate, but unlike all the other companies matt said he would like to have his insurance specialist Maury White come out and do a free inspection. I had no idea what he was talking about, but after he explained it all it made complete sense. He basically explained that homeowners insurance covers wind and storm damage on roofs unfortunately Most homeowners such as my self have no clue so before he even gave me a price he had scheduled his insurance specialist Maury to come the following day to see if I would qualify for this roof paid for by my homeowners insurance ( well all but the deductible) honestly I was crossing my fingers that night hoping that it would work I would much rather pay $1,000 deductible then 20k for a new roof. Yet I was skeptical. Maury showed up first thing the following day and said not only did I have storm damage I had a discontinued shingle... I was blown away as none of the other companies told me this they just gave me an estimate. Long story short Mary walked me through Filing the claim, he even met the adjuster out here to make sure we got everything we were entitled to. Every thing took several weeks but all I paid was $1,000 deductible and now I have a lifetime warranty roof that's transferable if I sell my home!!! So yes I would recommend this company to any one even if your thinking about a roof let them take a look at it. There niche is insurance restoration work. Got to even meet the owner Scott who also was very pleasant. All and all was a great experience and I wish I could do more then this review to help other homeowners possibly get lucky like I did.
