I noticed I can pretty much watch them make the food in front of me. It was interesting and great to see how fresh the food is. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The line was long but I got helped quickly. It was nice seeing a line tho because it means business is good. Ha eh the guy even gave me an extra spring roll.

All dishes we well made and the shrimp didn't feel too heavy or overly battered. The waiter was attentive & kind, plus the restaurant wasn't too busy but even for eating around 3:45, there was a lot more than I expected. The restaurant is a simple ambiance but overall it's nice to sit and dine in. I would definitely suggest this spot for anyone seeking Chinese food that'll satisfy your craving.

Pan fried noodles, general tso's chicken, combo fried rice, and honey walnut shrimp. I thought all the dishes were executed fairly well and enjoyed each dish. My favorites were the honey walnut shrimp and the pan fried noodles. I thought the portion size versus the price was pretty good. Food came out relatively quick too. We came in before the early dinner rush. When we first got there, there was only one other table being served, and by the time we finished, pretty much every table was taken up. The gentleman who was serving us was very kind and attentive. He was working hard as the only server in the restaurant, so kudos to him for providing great service. While I wouldn't consider the food s-tier, it was more than serviceable. If I'm craving Chinese food in the city of Belmont, this would satisfy the craving for sure.

Food is delicious and flavors are comparable to the popular Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. Dining-in service is always friendly and very attentive. This is a very good place to entertain family and friends. My favorites are Sizzling Braised Tofu, Dry Pot Fish Fillet, Dry Pot Chicken, Sliced Tender Pork Chop with Salt & Pepper, Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles, Braised Dry Green Beans, and Chinese Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. There are so many other good food options that it is impossible to order in one meal. We'll keep coming back!

Yan's brings me back to those days. We've been eating here more often over the past few years, and we have our regular dishes: chicken and corn soup, pork chops with Peking sauce, green beans, potstickers, and of course mu shu pork. Not sure who came up with the idea of a tortilla with hoisin sauce wrapped around cabbage, pork, and wood ear, but somehow it works. We usually have leftovers since the portions are quite large. There's other interesting stuff on the menu too (especially the Szechuan dishes) but most of the time we don't have enough room to order them. They also do drinks, and I like the lychee slushee. The staff is super friendly. Happy to have this place within a few blocks of home for some Chinese comfort food.

They have a number of nostalgic dishes including - lu da guer (驴打滚), jian bing, braised pork on the menu. We ordered peking eggplant- this is a must order on the menu! The eggplant was cooked perfectly (flavorful and delicate)- not greasy. The service was also amazing- the chef came out and checked on us a number of times. We had our kids and the chef gifted us sesame balls for dessert. The restaurant had a very mom and pop shop feel. Alot of the diners were regulars. It felt so cozy, casual, and relaxing. Ive been trying to introduce my kids to a traditional Chinese restaurant (not asian fusion like your pf chang)- Peking alley is the perfect place if you want to get some exposure to authentic chinese food. We cant wait to go back and try more dishes!

Pork, black bean sauce over fresh made noodles- this was good but I think I'd try a different dish next time. The server recommended this since we wanted fresh noodles but didn't want soup. Service took long on a Sunday night. There are different areas for large and small parties but the place itself is pretty cozy feeling with different rooms.

The sauce was delicious, rich, and comforting without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked just right and came out piping hot. Hit or Miss: Hit. Definitely something I would come back for again. 3/5 Drink Ordered: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea It was okay. Nothing bad about it, but nothing super memorable either. Pretty standard flavor overall. Hit or Miss: Slight Hit. Would drink it again if I was already there, but not something I'd specifically crave. Additional Comment: Overall, pretty solid experience. Nothing was mind blowing, but everything was done well. The baked spaghetti was definitely the highlight for me and the service helped make the meal enjoyable. Mainly for our toddler. Pickled mustard greens with pork noodles - you can select your noodles. This was basic but decent. Not as good as those you get a Taiwanese cafe. I had a very nice early dinner at "King Chuan Restaurant" in San Carlos…read more I was there at around 4:30pm, on a sunny Tuesday. I got a tip from another Yelper that the food is good here. My server/waiter was an older gentleman. He offered me a table by the window. The table setting was very thoughtful. They offer chopsticks, but there's also a fork and knife wrapped in a red cloth napkin. They gave me ice water, but I also asked for hot tea. King Chuan has a detailed menu, with several dishes having a brief description. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup. I asked for dark meat chicken only. They said "no problem." The Wor Won Ton Soup was very good. The soup had napa cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The chicken was tender and easy to eat. It also had pieces of beef and a few shrimp. The broth was light, and not salty. I also ordered the "Hot Dragon Chicken Wings." With a name like that, I expected very spicy wings. The wings were not spicy at all. In fact, I had to add salt to bring the flavor out. I was puzzled as to why these fried chicken wings have a mild flavor if they're served with spicy seasonings. I guess I was expecting something else. Overall, a nice experience. I would come back. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Street parking Also, Toot Sweet frozen yogurt is a few doors away.

From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.
