I recently visited this location with a friend and had an uncomfortable experience. My friend approached the counter to order, and for some reason, the staff member did not want to serve him. He came back to our table upset and explained what happened. I personally did not react or say anything. I was simply observing. Shortly after, the same staff member began speaking loudly from inside the counter area about us. I honestly could not hear exactly what was said, and it did not personally bother me. However, in customer service, professionalism and respectful communication are very important. I am not taking sides, and I did not see my friend being rude. What I did notice was the staff member speaking loudly in a way that felt unprofessional. I tried to stop in here to grab a quick bite, but the food was less than desirable. Staff were either conversing with one another or regular customers so they weren't attentive to customers. You couldn't pay me to take one of those premade tea cups and drink the contents. They looked disgusting. I wanted an egg roll originally, but as you can see from my picture they were a train wreck. I was desperate so I decided to risk it and get spring rolls instead because they looked good. They were not warm and the sweet and sour sauce packet they gave me was sticky and gross which matched the business so I'm not surprised. The food was okay at this extremely busy Tysons Corner mall location, but there were no walnuts at all in the honey walnut chicken and they still use styrofoam containers and insist on putting plastic lids on all bowls even when we asked them not to. I went to eat here with my kids last week. First of all let me share the service was horrible. The food wasn't ready so not big deal I told them I would wait. So after 20 mins later I finally see someone put the food in the pan to cook. I gave the person on the other side of the counter my usually order and As I waited for to gather the food I looked down near the food was a an upside down cockroach trying to flip itself over and another smaller black bug I couldn't identify. I love Panda Express. It is my favorite place to eat at the Tyson's Corner Mall. Recently eat there after going to the movies. They're was a small line so I knew it wasn't gonna take a long time. Time to decide what to eat. 1st the side, I went with Fried Rice. I then chose the Shanghai Angus Steak and the Mushroom Chicken. I also had two orders of the Veggie Spring Rolls. I grabbed a Soda and paid for my meal. I took it to go and eat in my car. The rice was excellent although there were to many peas and carrots in the rice but it didn't bother me at all. I ate the 4 spring rolls which were as good as they have always been. I tried the Shanghai Angus Steak which cost $1.50 extra. It was really good it was a new item. I then ate the mushroom chicken which in to go to most of the time I go to Panda Express and as usual it was very tasty and the highlight of the meal. All around excellent visit. I do not understand why this place is always full or why there is a long line outside their door. The food is not that great, the Lo Mein Noodles doesn't taste good, I find it very crispy for some odd reason. The orange chicken doesn't taste like chicken but the flavoring they use is good I will say that. The only entrees I like is the Chicken with mushrooms (I love mushrooms, yay for mushrooms) and the Kung Pao Chicken (very spicy at least for my taste buds) it taste pretty good but doesn't have the Wow Factor. Ate all many locations over the years, but mainly in California (where it started), airports, and now states east of Calif, and this Tysons one. It is "fast Chinese", but remember EVERY wok size portion is hand cooked by a (usually Latino) cook in the open kitchen. That means, seasoning, temperature and thoroughness is individualized, and finally, by how long it sits in the serving vat. When you are given the last portion of the vat, it is gross (because that portion may have been cooked a hour ago and covered by new food). When fresh, or within 10-minutes of transfer from the wok, it's quite good. Yes, it's more salty than needed (it's seasoned for people who ask for even more soy sauce !!), and sauces are too heavy (adding unnecessary calories). The "dining room" atmosphere is like other fast food paces; the serving tempo can be frantic, and cleanliness is not top notch. I read a review from a poster who complained that a manager was counting her shrimp portion (only 5 !, the manager yelled) -- YEAH, shrimp is among the most expensive raw food ingredient. Maybe the manager could have been more polite to her staff, but the reviewer should have not taken it personally (or the reviewer is clueless). When visiting California, the family wants In-N-Out Burger but I go for Panda Express. For about $8 without a soda, I can get stuffed. read more
