Salmon crunch roll
Mel L.

I needed a quick bite to eat while shopping at the mall, so I ordered a miso soup and grabbed a prepackaged salmon crunch roll from the sushi fridge which rang up to $8 in total. The miso soup was a large portion but I was actually able to watch that is made from miso soup instant powder - and that's how it tastes like: Not that great. The roll was pretty good for being prepackaged sushi although I had to shake off some of the copious amount of tempura flakes covering it and to my surprise there was no salmon inside the roll (just a bit on top) but crab meat. Overall, this is not a bad place for a cheap and quick lunch since you can also assemble your own lunch special at the raw food counter which the cook then prepares on the Mongolian grill.

Asian Bistro Tysons Corner

I ended up at this place for a quick lunch as it is 5 minutes away from my work in Tysons Corner. The place was pretty crowded which is usually a good sign. I ordered General Tso's chicken (which by the way has no known link to the General. In my research when the people in town of General Tso were interviewed, they had no clue about such a dish). As I was reading the menu I decided to take couple of pictures for Yelp. One of the cashiers behind the counter totally freaked out (lol). He came out from behind the counter and he was holding a knife not to scare me but he said "What are you taking pictures of?" - I said your menu? He said "Why?" I said because maybe I want to send it to my friend. He was so freaked out about it that it made me feel totally awkward. He said our owner doesnt like anyone taking pictures of anything here. I was like "Dude you need to calm down, its jjust a menu (not some Crabby Patty Secret Formula\ (I never thought I could use a Spongebob reference on Yelp! but I just did). The food was pretty good but because of my odd chemistry with this Kungfu master with a knife, I felt a bit odd sitting and eating there. People need to relax. In this age of social media, foodies and blogging, restaurants owners need to chill a little more. What do you have to hide?? I hope its not roaches.

rice and meat in a styrofoam container

So this is basically buffet style pick your own veggies and what not, and they always give a scoop of rice. I just wanted a lot of veggies, which doesn't fit very well into your bowl. I had to use my hand and smash everything in to make it compact. Then I added some noodles at the end cause I'm a sucker. I added some hot sauce, and chilli sauce, and then boom onto the grill it goes. I saw a sign for $1 for double chicken and I got it. I could probably count how many pieces of chicken I got. My meal cost $9.5 definitely not worth it. I had maybe 8 pieces of chicken and they were all super thin cuts, so I'm assuming if I didn't double up I would have gotten 4 pieces.... I should have just gone to panda express and got 3 items. Whatever lesson learned. Definitely good if you just want lots and lots of veggies, I don't think its possible to get your moneys worth though cause its $8.5.

Teriyaki chicken and rice.

This place rocks. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and rice. It was good. The wait time here to order was not that long. The wait time to receive my food was somewhat long. That is ok. I enjoyed the food. This food rocks. This place has great food. Good deal for the price.

Lo mein

Asian Bistro is probably my go to spot at Tysons lol! Ok maybe I'm hyping it a bit but it's damn good! Ive had the crispy honey chicken, lo mein, and chicken with broccoli so far. My favorite is definitely the combination lo mein. You get baby shrimp, beef, chicken, and veggies! So good! The crispy honey chicken is definitely the runner up! Its sweet, its crunchy, and its unhealthy. The bad stuff is SOOO good though lol. This place very generous with the portions so come hungry! I shall be returning for another dose of lo mein soon! Mmmmmm!

See all

Shake shack for me has been a pretty consistent brand and experience. Located on the second level…read moreof the mall next to a playground is perfect when dining with kids. We had: hot dogs, a single cheeseburger, bacon cheese fries, onion rings and two shakes-strawberry and chocolate. I really wanted to try the chocolate marshmallow shake but knew my kid wouldn't finish her chocolate so I held back. Maybe next time! We sat outside, although there is a small amount of seating inside. Ordering at the kiosk was convenient. Food came out quickly which was appreciated.

Came from another SS location which was absolute chaos. Honestly this location wasn't much better…read morebut we were able to flag down an employee to confirm gluten free ordering procedure. Inside is very cramped with only a handful of seats, more of a set-up for takeaway or eating outdoors - it was pretty dang hot and sprinkling rain so luckily we were able to grab seats at the counter looking out the window. Food was ready fairly quickly, piping hot, my burger was delicious. The starting price for a cheeseburger is about $10 and I'd say it's worth it. $3.99 for a small soft drink seems ridiculous but maybe it is in keeping for the area (?). Disappointed that they were out of the limited edition Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake. Appreciated the various shoutouts to Pride (employee T shirts, rainbow logo on cups, opportunity to add rainbow sprinkles to shakes). Summary- Five stars for the food but the surroundings and ordering experience left something to be desired.

I love Blazin Chicken & Gyro! They serve it up differently than the typical Halal Guys-style shop -…read moreand different in the best way. Their proteins and fries are perfect, their salad is cold and crisp, and the execution of their rice is consistently the benchmark. First off though: the lighting is really harsh. It's Temu hexagonal 10000K bright white led honeycombs from blaze hell. The walls are primer black, and there are no paper towels in the bathrooms. Solution: I almost always get my food to-go. I flip flop between the Falafel Platter and the Mixed (Chicken + Lamb Gyro) Platter with the following no-charge mod: NO fries, MORE salad. This leaves the rice alone - you will get rice - and it is a very long grain, saffroned, Basmati rice that is distinctively al dente. Not fluffy or clumpy - they are highly separated and firm rice grains, and I absolutely love it this way. This rice blows the competition far and away. If you like fries, they are good - they're the double-fried "Burger King" style and keep their heat decently well in the to-go clamshell. The sauces are quite special. I like them all. I always ask for the following on-the-side (no zig-zags for me): the white (tahini-like), the green (cilantro), the red (spicy), the orange (signature Blazin spice). There are a couple of others, but I find these 4 create a nice balance. Oh and the late-night hours secure the 5-star rating. This can feel like the perfect late-night food - thanks to the owners for accommodating the late-night fans. Quickie review notes: The burger is just okay - the patty should be bigger. The Chopped Cheese is convincing, but not the best value item, IMO. The milkshakes are very tasty!
