Miu Kee recently renovated the whole restaurant, and honestly it feels like they might've changed ownership too. The place has all new lighting, updated tables, and even booths now, which gives it more of a modern ramen shop kind of vibe; and got a new menu too! I ordered all my usual favorites: sautéed black bean clams, beef chow fun, salty fish fried rice, crab soup, and deep-fried seafood. I was super excited to eat here again since they had been closed for renovations for a while, but honestly... every dish was disappointing. I'm not sure if they changed the recipes or got a new chef, but the food just didn't taste the same. The salty fish fried rice was way too salty. I know it's salted fish fried rice, but it tasted more like straight salt than actual flavor!! The deep-fried seafood came out soggy, and the beef chow fun was just okay. Miu Kee was one of my favorite childhood restaurants, so this was kind of a sad bad experience for me. I haven't gone back since, and I honestly don't know if I will. On another note, service is the same. You wave your hand to get the servers attention, they'll only come to you if they're needed lol

2 meat combo char siu pork and roasted crispy pork

I was in the area and thought I give this place a try since I heard they serve Cantonese bbq. I order the two meat combo (char siu bbq pork and crispy roasted pork) for $18.95 and some shu mai $7.95 4 count. The platter was enough to feed 2 people and both char siu and crispy roasted pork were delicious! Hot and not room temp like other spots. The crispy roasted pork was tender and crispy and not chewy thankfuy. I will say I prefer Ying Cantonese char siu bbq pork but the platter was delicious. This spot will be on my rotation to try their others dishes.

Generous portions for a reasonable price. Clean and comfortable/casual atmosphere, attentive servers. Quick service, and the food came out piping hot and fast!

Passed by the other day and saw it reopened. Like the new decor. We have duck and wonton noodle soup and kingdo pork chop. Both are really good and hot. Service is good also.

Where do I begin, came here for dinner after leaving the airport. I had the deep fried spicy pork chop and boy was it amazing. The place looks amazing after the remodel, definitely will be back.

This 30 year restaurant recently renovated and the atmosphere is much elevated with elegant furniture and overall a nice place for a celebration or sit-down meal. The food is delicious! Especially the peking duck, the spicy deep fried tofu (not that spicy, just right), and deep fried pork chop. I also loved the snow pea leaves in garlic sauce. The staff were all so nice and attentive. The owners also came out and were so friendly.

Set your expectations, this is a hole in wall - then you'll love it! Dropped off mom's car at dealer for service, walked across Arlington Blvd for early dinner. Mom got the duck noodle soup - she could barely finish- under $12 for duck dish!! My veggie casserole wasn't as cheap but full of bright veggies & tofu in light brown sauce was perfect. The service is brisk (again expectations), but for quality AND quantity for price - it's a winner!

We have been to Miu Kee for close to 20 years. It is almost like a hole in the wall kind of restaurant. The specialty is Cantonese type of food. If you are into the regular Chinese restaurant, do not go here. There are many good dishes but we settled on Salt and Pepper Fried Pork Chops, Salt and Pepper Fried Shrimp without shells, Seafood Pan Fried Noodles and Shrimp with Cashew. Sometimes, we get the Beef with Turnips Casserole, Crispy roast pig and ginger Lobster. When in season, their snow pea leaves are really good. I would say they are not always on point. Some days the flavor is off. Yesterday, all dishes were spot on in flavor. Service is like any regular Chinese restaurant. If you speak Cantonese, you will be well treated. Only service complain is their tea cost extra but it is a tea bag tea. On the flip side if you order many dishes, almost unlimited refill on white rice.

They been around for a long time but just keeps on going downhill. The food is good but they marked it up way too much. Service is ok. Plenty of seating available since they're not as busy as they once were. Sometimes the air system is turned off probably they're trying to save money. Hope they can get the business back to how it use to be.

After we attended a private event, we arrived with a small group of seven. The restaurant is located in between IHOP and CVS off Arlington Blvd (Rt. 50) and Annandale Rd. We ordered seven items: 1) Roasted duck noodle soup 2) Sauté spinach with garlic 3) Szechuan green beans 4) Deep fried salted tofu 5) Crispy noodle with seafood 6) Beef chow fun 7) Orange chicken. The broth in the roasted duck noodle soup was on point. The noodles and duck meat were tender. Both vegetable dishes were pack with flavor. The fried tofu were crispy, hot and mildly salted which makes this dish underrated, it's a must get item. The crispy noodle with seafood wasn't enough sauce but tasty. The orange chicken was very delicious and we wanted more. The beef chow fun never disappoints. It's always a group favorite filled with umami and richness. Our server is friendly, attentive and welcoming. I would make another visit to try other items on the menu.

I came here last week and we enjoyed our food. It was a little salty, but nothing white rice can't fix. I would definitely give them another shot. We had congee, dry beef chow foon and fried garlic chicken.

I haven't been here for over 25+ years. Just decided to head over there since I haven't had Chinese food in awhile. It's delicious.

We ordered the fried rice and beef chow fun, it was amazing!! This is some of the best Chinese food I have ever had!! We forgot to take pictures when the food came but I got some good ones!

Something is very off with the (lack of) protein quality at the Falls Church location. The head-on shrimp were smallish - some were 21-25 count, some were 26-30 count, and all had an off-putting *green* poop line. The clams were inedible and tiny. Half of the clams were missing from their shells. They shouldn't be sold. When I showed the poor quality of the clams to the server, they offered a 20% discount - clearly they don't get it. What keeps me loyal to the brand is their signature Hot N Juicy Special sauce (mod: extra garlic). No other Viet Cajun (even in Houston or wherever) comes close to the depth and complexity of the Hot N Juicy Special sauce. For now, the winning move is to order a some sausage in a cup with Hot N Juicy Special medium sauce w/extra garlic TO GO, and sautée it with a bag of defrosted Costco head-on 16-20 count shrimp, or a few dozen live Cherrystone clams from HMart. There is so much potential here. The sauce is boss. Solve your protein problem!

Nue was the fine dining recommendation, and I have to say it was a great introduction to Vietnamese cuisine. As far as parking, there is a garage within walking distance of the stores and restaurants, so parking was pretty convenient. The restaurant itself was beautifully designed. It was dimly lit, spacious, and had a really nice atmosphere. Our waitress was also very knowledgeable about the menu and offered some great suggestions, which was especially helpful since I wasn't very familiar with Vietnamese food. The menu was pretty expansive, and I have to say some of the cocktail descriptions immediately caught my attention. I tried the Lychee Sunset Fizz, made with Hornitos Blanco Tequila, lychee liqueur and lychee, calamansi, yuzu and grenadine. I tend to go for sweeter drinks so this was a nice balance. For food, the Seafood Chả Giò was one of my favorites. It had wild Gulf shrimp, lump crab, Berkshire pork, taro, carrots and fresh herbs. It definitely seems to be one of their headlining items because it was something I noticed quite a few people ordering, and I can see why. But my absolute favorite was the Snow Crab Fried Rice. It had hand-pulled snow crab, shrimp, shallots, eggs and oyster mushrooms, and it was so flavorful and filling. Honestly, I regretted not ordering another portion to take home because I would have happily eaten it again later. All in all, I would definitely return to Nue to try some of the other items on the menu. I'm definitely not finished with my Vietnamese food journey yet, but this was a really great stop along the way. If the Snow Crab Fried Rice is any indication of what's still waiting for me on the menu, I have plenty more to explore.

Do not come expecting a solid seafood dinner. We came here after a nearby event. There was live music in the very sizable back lot area. People were actually up and dancing and having a great time. The vibes were stellar. I don't know if I would be into tbis place in the winter if I had to eat inside because the inside is kind of dingey, but outside in the summer is pretty paradisiacal. I did notice that they were doing karaoke in a weird little side room and it did not seem crowded on a Saturday night so that might be worth checking out. Servers were also all super nice. Pretty sure we entered the wrong way and kind of just let ourselves in through the back lot area and then we had no idea where to go to find a host(ess). So we asked the first server we could find where to go and she went "oh I can seat you" and grabbed two menus. Excellent. She also gave us our choice of wherever. The place is huge. Our assigned server was also nice and really knew the menu, which is not small. The menu had a ton of options including some really interesting tofu options and I had a hard time picking so I got excited. Also very customizable where you can choose your preparation. The beer list was not exactly artisinal...a lot of like...michelob ultra. And they had those island slushy kind of drinks. So at first I was like...this is my new weekend hangout. Then our drinks came. They were small and in little plastic cups. Wuhoh. Then our food came. I should have known it wouldn't be fresh. The price wasa little *too* good. When I asked about the catch of the day it was like four different things. I ended up with a buffalo grouper sandwich (grouper was one of the four things). I have had a fresh buffalo grouper sandwich in Clearwater before and that was in 2019 and I still remember it 7 years later. This buffalo grouper sandwich? Oh no. First of all it was this thin, flat battered fried cutlet thing. The breading absorbed the buffalo sauce so I couldn't taste it very much though they did bring me a lot of Bleu cheese dressing. The fish was bad. I bit into it and it tasted fishy and it was dry. Honestly if I hadn't been super hungry I would have just not eaten it. On top of that, I paid an extra dollar to upgrade from fries to hushpuppies. These were legit hushpuppies, but hushpuppies are small and how many did they bring me? 5. Are you kidding? Again, in Florida these are brought free by the basket. They're literally just fried up balls of corn meal. I think that may have offended me more than the bad fish. My husband went witb BBQ pulled chicken and fries and said both were good. So. Here are my thoughts. Would I come here again in the summer for fun vibes and good service? Yes. Would I set low expectations for my food and drink? Yes. Would I probably just order a softdrink and stick to something simple they can't screw up like a quesadilla and fries? Yeeeeeeeah.

We tried the combo sauce "Crazy special" a mix of Cajun, garlic, and lemon pepper. Boils come with corn, potatoes, and sausage! There was so much food!!!! The wings came out hot, saucy, and still crispy with some house ranch on the side. Then came the boils. Just look at them!!!!!!! The seafood with fresh with actual garlic, fresh parsley, and saucy. Sauce was buttery, garlic was plentiful, good lemon pepper taste. Cajun was present but not strong. But the buttery goodness pooled at the bottom of our pans. Perfect for ensuring all bites were saucy bites. Rez stopped by to make sure we were good during our meal. We received snow crab instead of King on our big boil. Rez acknowledged the mistake and immediately made it right, no fuss, no making us feel bad, not even taking the incorrect legs back. Just phenomenal service and showing care for his customers. It was a meal well enjoyed in a good atmosphere. We saw several groups and families dining while we were there. Its a place you feel welcome, not rushed, and want to visit again! And we will! Of course we couldn't finish! And wrapped up leftovers to go! Also there's an all you can eat special $59.99/person. Definitely worth it for those who can put away some seafood! And last thing- there's a hand washing station outside of the at back of restaurant prior to restroom area so you can freshen before and after eating and not need to go inside the restroom. Thank you for this!!!!!

Hi, I was just yelled at by a MANAGER over the phone about…read moremy phone complaint. I called in to complain about my dine in meal on Monday at 8pm. The manager who sounded Indian was just hostile towards me over the phone and he even hung up the phone in my face just now. I told him my complaint in a calm tone, he was rude back to me the entire phone call. I mentioned a 1 star review and he got even more loud and hostile and hung up. I asked to speak w the owner and he knew he was not the owner. I don't want my complaint falling on deaf years. See below The catfish was cooked too hard with no seasoning The boil was bland We ate and paid $30 cash however due to being on a time schedule, we had somewhere to be at 9pm properly, we were in a rush we couldn't ask to re do our order what so ever, instead we thought to kindly complain later over the phone in peace.. Most of the food was just not good... Cooked properly muscles usually are wide open Most were closed as well

I saw that Hook & Reel had them and decided to give it a try. The location was easy to find, and it's in a typical strip mall, so parking was super easy. I went later in the afternoon and it wasn't busy at all. I was greeted and seated immediately, and service was pretty quick. I did check out the bathroom. It was visibly clean, but I will say it didn't smell the cleanest. Outside of that, the restaurant itself was fine. One thing you definitely won't miss is the specials. They have them posted pretty much everywhere on the windows when you walk in, on the tables, etc. There are plenty of options and specials to choose from. I kept my order really simple. I got the steamed oysters with their house blend seasoning and an order of steamed crawfish. I know most people come to places like this for the full seafood boil experience, but I really just wanted oysters and something quick. Overall, it was pretty good for what I ordered. The biggest plus was that the seafood tasted fresh. Nothing had that funky seafood taste or smell. The potatoes that came with the crawfish were fresh, and the corn was a little small, but I mean... it's corn. Would I come back? Yes, mainly because I'd like to try some of their other seafood and get more of the full boil experience next time. For a quick steamed seafood fix, though, it did the job. I kept the bathroom comment and the "it's corn" part because those little details make it sound like an actual review from you instead of a generic restaurant write-up.

About three weeks ago, I left a 5-star review for Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar because, until…read morerecently, it had become one of my family's go-to seafood spots due to its convenience and generally good food. Before that, our preferred restaurant had always been Crazy Crab, where we consistently had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, after today, I will not be returning to Hook & Reel. I brought family members who had just driven in from Massachusetts and planned to treat them to dinner. There were four of us dining, and while three planned to order the All-You-Can-Eat option, one person preferred ordering directly from the regular menu. After we had already ordered drinks, we were informed by the manager, Vivian, that either everyone at the table had to order All-You-Can-Eat, or everyone had to order from the regular menu. There was no flexibility, no customer consideration, and no appreciation shown for the fact that we are repeat customers who have spent a significant amount of money there over time. In fact, several friends and members of our church began dining there based on our recommendation. What was most disappointing was not simply the policy itself, but the way the situation was handled. We were made to feel as though the restaurant viewed us as people trying to "game the system" over a few shrimp or crab legs, rather than loyal customers bringing business and referrals into the establishment. To make matters worse, this was communicated only after our drink orders had already been placed. Rather than create a scene, we simply paid for our drinks and left. We immediately went to Crazy Crab, where the experience could not have been more different. Staff members remembered us even though it had been months since our last visit. We were welcomed warmly, treated with dignity and respect, and received exceptional service from beginning to end. We gladly spent over $230 there instead. As a retired Army veteran, retired federal executive, business owner, and someone who frequently hosts family, friends, church members, and professional guests at restaurants, customer experience matters greatly to me. One poor interaction can cost a business far more than a single table. It can impact repeat business, referrals, community reputation, and future opportunities. From a business perspective, this experience should concern ownership. In today's economy, restaurants do not simply compete on food -- they compete on customer experience, relationships, and reputation. One inflexible interaction from management did not just lose a single dinner sale; it likely lost repeat visits, family gatherings, business meals, church referrals, and positive word-of-mouth within the local community. Strong businesses empower managers to protect both policy and customer relationships. Unfortunately, in this situation, customer loyalty and hospitality were sacrificed over what appeared to be concern about one person potentially sharing food. That decision ultimately cost the restaurant far more than it protected. If you want to dine somewhere where hospitality, consistency, and customer appreciation still matter, I would strongly recommend Crazy Crab. I truly hope Hook & Reel reflects on how situations like this are handled in the future, because no loyal customer should leave feeling disrespected after choosing to spend their hard-earned money at your establishment.
