The food was good especially considering how busy they were. My online order took 15 minutes longer than estimated but the food was hot.

Very plain fried rice. Had it twice and it only had rice and chicken. No veggies or egg…read more Crab Rangoon is very good.

Good: Crab ragoon was good, hot and fresh. The steamed shrimp with vegetables was good. Shrimp…read morewere nice sized and cooked well. Bad: Egg roll was cold but tasted ok. Fried rice was yellow rice with some onions, very sad rice with no flavor at all. Hardly traditional fried rice. Was given a 25 minute estimate. Got there at 20 minutes and waited almost 30 more for my order. The huge tub of brown gravy they give you is ridiculously large for the amount needed for the entree and scalding hot temperature. The container it comes in has a lid that is impossible to remove without spilling the full sauce all over. There are no sauce packets out for you to grab like most Chinese take out places have and when the bag was handed to me all sealed up I assumed (wrongly) that they had thrown some sauces in. My bad for assuming. They did throw fortune cookies in. Ugly: The General Tso chicken was inedible. The unrecognizable chunks of "chicken" were so stringy and tough and full of cartridge more than half of them could not be eaten and had to be spit out. The sauce also had no heat (menu shows a spicy symbol) and really no flavor like traditional General Chicken you would expect. Our total order exceeded the amount ($21 before tax) listed on the menu for 3 free crab rangoon which I asked for when I ordered. When I got there they charged me for the rangoon but I didn't notice that until I got home. This is our 3rd disappointing visit in a row. I realize it's the only Chinese in town and everyone in Bethalto loves it but it's really sad that it doesn't live up to the hype.

Chinatown - Sushi, shrimp, steak, fried rice and noodles. Everything cooked perfectly, it was a great experience!

Great place to eat! Lots of selection and attentive service! Very clean and lots of tasty…read moreselections. Only thing I would ding them on is food is not always really hot! Today was good but, times the food has just slightly over warm. Good food at a good price! Very nice place for dinner!

I wanted to be fair, so I have intentionally waited until we have been here three visits. We have…read moregone for lunch each time. The first was while in a hotel when we first arrived in June to move into our "forever home" in Staunton (about 10 miles away). We went again a month or so after moving in. We went today (Sunday lunch) because we wanted to pick up a few things at Walmart. Understand where I (we) are coming from. My wife spent her childhood in Hawaii, and her father is Japanese. I am an Army veteran, and have been to plenty of Asian restaurants around the world. I do have a tough standard. I am sincerely not trying to punch down. I want this place to be good, it would be better for my retirement years for it to be good. It is the closest option for buffet. Our Staunton option is a menu only, and it is also not a good option, at all. I understand that a place needs to cater to its patrons to be profitable. I am not saying they don't try, I'm not saying they don't care. I do understand that americanized and (bland) is what they need to lean into. Our lunch today was $40 and we both left unsatisfied. I am willing to eat anything and have the girth to prove it. My wife is a bit more particular, but certainly has the ability to provide a decent value judgement on the things she chooses. There just are not consistently good choices to be had here. The "sushi" for example is marginal at best. There are more breaded/fried items than truly exist in Asian menus at other places I have been. The other items almost always have a sauce that is salt and sugar forward. There are very few spices/textures that I would expect from a Chinese menu. It is relatively clean, the people working here do try to do a good job. I appreciate the effort required to put all this together for us. It has the standard Chinese restaurant decorations (I think there is a kit that can be ordered from somewhere), but they haven't overdone it. I do understand and accept that people like this place, and appreciate the offerings. I am in no way looking down on their preference, [To each their Own] and please continue to enjoy it. If you are however, just passing through, it may not be the best stop for good Chinese food, okay "food" sure, but not on par with other options I have enjoyed.

This was the first time we tried it and we will definitely be back! It is located in the same lot…read moreas Farm and Home. The decor is sparse, it's an older building, but very clean. The variety of foods is impressive. Everything we tried was very good. Servers kept the plates cleared in good time. They have a senior discount which is always appreciated. There were salad items and other items not necessarily Asian, so there is something for everyone. We will be making this a go-to!

Let me start out by saying, typically I am not a buffet person, but I was shopping next door and…read morethought I'd give them a try. Once again, this is a review where I need and want a half star. For a buffet, it really wasn't that bad. The buffet area was kept clean and filled on a regular schedule as I dined. My food was all at a warm temperature and I didn't have to push anything aside for being cold. Their soda fountain was Pepsi, which I am not a fan of, but when given it as a choice, I can do the diet version. Foods that I tried and liked were; General Tso's Chicken, Bourbon Chicken, Green Pepper Steak, Chicken with Broccoli, Beef Lo Mein and the Green Beans. It's kinda funny, my favorite was the Green Beans and not any of the Chinese dishes. Foods that I did not like; Egg Roll, Crab Rangoon, Fried Rice and Fried Chicken Wings. It's disappointing when the Egg Roll and Crab Rangoon are not good when enjoying a Chinese meal. For me, if they are good, I can make them a light meal. Dining here you have very little interaction with the staff. You'll speak with the cashier when you first walk in and pay, and that's about it. Once you are dining, the staff working the dining room rarely speak as they bus and clean tables. The ambiance is non-existence, it's outdate and scary, but they keep it clean. If your self-esteem is low because you've gained a few pounds, go have lunch here. Once you see the other diners, your self-esteem will rise.
