An interesting visit. Food good. Atmosphere poor. Tried to get into the lobby, it was locked. No signage as to why it was locked, so we assumed it was an accidental lock as people were happily eating inside. (Not anywhere near closing time at noon) Soon the door opens from another customer and we enter. Nothing was said, we unlock the door thinking it was mistakingly locked. We get in line, and proceed to be passive aggressively shamed for unlocking the locked door with no signage. They now know about the unlocked previously locked door, but don't go to lock it- we're assuming it was fine. The locked/unlocked door seemed to cause more problems for them then good. Angry customers, feeling unheard and unseen just wanted to eat. If the wait was too long they can leave. They, Jessy and dark haired man in the back, would periodically say that they didn't have enough people to open the lobby. I stepped out to see a chain of cars unsafely lined throughout the parking lot(s). This group seemed to be overwhelmed and stressed. I know how it gets in food service, but whining about it to the guests face, and locking them out- not a solution. Not to mention the only one seeming to move with any urgency was Jessy, the rest Malachi and dark haired man in the back seem to have already given up- moving at their chosen pace with negative comments slipping out here and there in front of the line of guests. Perhaps better urgency, communication, and overall team chemistry is needed. Went into Panda Express tonight around 845 for a later dinner. I walked inside because drive thru was very bus. When I got inside there were two patrons ahead of me and I patiently waited my turn. There was one girl working the front counter area, a manager, and a drive thru person! The couple in front of me was promptly helped and their order was taken and prepared and then they were checked out. I watched the girl go to the drive thru part of the restaurant and completely ignore me! Another gentleman came in asked about an order and then ordered a drink for himself. The manager helped him and then went to check on his order while not even acknowledging me waiting in line. She proceeded to prepare other orders while still no explanation or nothing to the point we will be right with you . Totally ignored, as if I wasn't even there! Seeing that I was not going to be waited on I left the store! Again no acknowledgment or apology, I guess they were to busy or did not care about losing a Sale!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE OR EVEN LETTING YOUR PATRONS KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON, has totally left the Fast Food Industry! I will never be back nor will Panda Express earn my business ever again! My father and I placed a delivery order via the Panda Express app from this store. We were staying at a nearby hotel. When the delivery arrived, I was called by the driver that they were not allowed on the grounds as they had a restraining order against them from the hotel. I had to walk out to the road to get the order. When I got back, I realized my father's order was missing entirely. I tried to call the driver, but I couldn't. I couldn't text the delivery service as I ordered via the Panda Express app. I called the store and was told I had to call back in five minutes to get the manager. I did, but I had to call straight for ten minutes. Finally they picked up and I got a shift manager. He said it was door dashes fault and they could only replace the missing food, but I would have to come get it. That is not something we could do. My dad did not get his meal for the night. I called the guest service number they would give me. They said it should have been handled better, that they would refund the missing food only, and that they would report the employees to the general manager. That's all. Panda Express is a good company, but the success of a brand really requires good managers and owners at each location and a corporate strategy that ensures quality. Panda's reliance on door dash via their app does not allow us customers any way to directly report issues with delivery. In my case, the staff at the store felt it wasn't their problem and did not feel they should do anything about it. I was not their customer even though I ordered through the app and they prepared my food. Corporate was sympathetic but only would do the bare minimum despite how ridiculous the situation was. I am glad I didn't have to pay for my dad's meal that wasn't there, but I also spent an hour on the phone. There was no offer of compensation for failing my order or my time lost. At some point, there needs to be someone who is responsible for quality. That's on you Panda Express corporate. Will I stop eating Panda. No. Will I eat here again. No. I don't live anywhere close so it is no problem for me to avoid this place like the plague. I hope the franchisee at this location talks to their managers and figures out how to deal with this. I love going to panda express but since the dining room has been closed during the pandemic getting the drive-through is hit or miss. Have had several orders wrong have asked for soy sauce and hardly ever get it and even ask for a few extra peppers in the Kung pow chicken which they don't include and sometimes there's only one pepper in the whole order. Who knows maybe besides toilet paper and hand sanitizer there's a shortage on hot peppers. One thing that did kind of great me before the pandemic hit was that when my wife and I went in to eat she would tell the person that she was really hungry and they gave her a pretty good portion and when I stepped up and said I'd like the same thing they cut my portion in half maybe that was their way of telling me that I was a fat ass and needed to lose weight (which I did in December after having emergency appendix surgery and finding out I was diabetic) but I don't like to be size discriminated against. read more

I don't know that Panda Express should really put "Gourmet" beside "Chinese Food." It is a pretty high bar to qualify as gourmet when you scoop out large quantities on disposable dishes. Panda Express doesn't really clear that bar, but it is decent, tasty, and reasonably quick food. I've got a couple of complaints, though. 1. I didn't really know what to order because there's not really a menu. There are directions, but it is not clear upon the first reading. For those of you who want to know, you basically choose two main dishes, one side and either rice or noodles. Some things are an extra fee, but the folks behind the line will tell you that, so you look like a cheapskate when you say, "Oh, no then" rather than the restaurant simply posting prices. Oh yeah, there's no prices. The main option is about $7, so you won't bust your wallet, but it would be nice to know before getting rung up. 2. The interior setup is terrible. This is pretty inexcusable for a Greenfield build. The queue wraps around a table and snakes through the main thoroughfare, completely bisecting the restaurant and making it near impossible during busy times to get a refill if you're sitting on the other side of the building. Since the place is new, the line moved slowly as people tried to figure out how to order, so people didn't move quickly and the backup was pretty bad around noon on a Friday. Maybe I'd have been more at ease on a Wednesday at 2:30, but that's not when I eat lunch on Friday. 3. Not their fault, but the Diet Pepsi fountain dispenser was leaking water. C'mon, this is a new store. I tried a spicy dish (firecracker chicken) and the teriaki chicken. They were fine, but fairly tame. I never thought much of writing reviews for fast food joints, especially near big shopping centers in Indiana especially on the weekends, but come on people. Seriously. They run out of dishes regularly, so you're stuck waiting in line. The drive through backs up so badly it can sometimes block the traffic coming into the shopping centers. Alright, 13 check-ins later and I think I'm ready to write my review. I think that people are very hard on this Panda Express. These are young people working after school or in between classes doing the best that they can with few staff members and ever-growing lines. With that being said, of course there's general standards that need to be met on each visit.I come here for lunch often, typically once a week. I come anywhere between 3-6PM on both weekdays and weekend days. I suggest coming in and picking up your food. Its much faster and you can better determine the freshness of the products. I don't mind waiting for ten minutes for fresh orange chicken or fried rice, so if its looking a little...eh... worse for the wear, I'll just politely ask to wait for the fresh stuff and its never been a problem before. I will say this, when the products are hot and fresh it is near heavenly. Orange chicken, sweet fire chicken, firecracker chicken, fried rice and the chow mein have been my staples for a while. The consistency on these products is not strong. Sometimes the chow mein will be overrun with onions, the sweet fire chicken may be more pineapple than chicken, or the orange chicken can be little nuggets of toughness. I take into consideration that I've had probably ten good meals and three bad ones, and in the fast food world, I like those odds. The portions are big if you get a plate, two entrees and one side and at about 7.50 its not terribly priced. I love that they have several drink options, bottles (Izze soda!), a fountain and fresh brewed Chinese tea. Overall: I'd like to reiterate that this is fast food. The store is not always clean, sometimes the food isn't good or the wait might be long, but I genuinely feel that the staff is trying there best. I have never been to a Panda Express and was quite surprised with how neat it is set up, in a smorgasbord board type of way. I like that I can see what it looks like and you can even sample it before buying. I can't remember what I had but it was good all but the rangoons....yuck dried cream cheese. Don't even bother. The food is always hot and fresh as expected and tastes pretty good. You're not going to find much better chinese food either for the price. The only problem I have is the wait. If the drive thru is full you better plan on waiting in line then. It's almost as if all the workers focus shifts over to the drive thru and forgets about their inside customers, really sad. I've waited in line 15-20mins just to order my food. I've even seen people in line complain directly to the counter workers face about how long they make you wait. I wanted to like this place, I really did. I couldn't wait for it to open and obviously a lot of other people couldn't either, since it seems to always be packed. The first time I went, I got the firecracker chicken and the chicken with mushrooms, along with the noodles as a side. Only the firecracker chicken had any taste at all. And I was especially disappointed by the noodles, which looked so good but tasted like nothing. I did try the noodles on a second visit, and they were helped by adding some sauce (luckily there are several to choose from) but overall my hopes were dashed for this place. The food tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time and the staff confused themselves such that they were mixing up orders when serving them. There were 4 of us in line.
