This time we paid for our order @ 11:21:51 am on a Thursday. Fresh orange chicken was sitting in the warming pan ready to replace the few pieces of what was left--nice. Rice and chow main were 3/4 full. So far so good...except after watching 3 employees fill drive thru or prep online orders we waited more than 5 minutes before being helped. With less than a dozen people walking in to sit down and more than 1/2 the tables empty we would expect tables to be clean. Nope. After getting our food I attempted to sit at one of the two open booths by the window. Both tables were nasty dirty. My wife and I sat at a table for two. Now we are leaving at 11:52 am and both those tables are still dirty--we saw 3 people attempt to sit, look and then walk away. It's one thing or another at this mismanaged Panda Express. You can order online. Wait in drive thru. Go inside store. Waiting time is 30-40 min to get your food. They don't greet you when you walk in to order. They don't greet when you're there to pick up an order. It's honestly embarrassing. Sucks Bellingham doesn't have any good fast food places. I like the food here but not the service. I always see lots of workers. Mostly handling the drive thru. Which makes no sense why they still take long doing that. It's hard to pick or choose your battle when you order here. Drive through service takes upwards of 30 minutes. I've been a semi-regular customer of this location for over a year and the drive through always takes an absurd amount of time. The amount of cars in line has no bearing on the speed. If there are only a few cars, the service will slow down to make sure you wait your 30 minutes no matter what. read more

Finally had a chance to try this chain after hearing about it for decades. Parking is available in the nice large strip mall lot. The inside is surprisingly new and modern. Mind you, I wasn't sure what to expect. Staff were friendly and very helpful, especially since I didn't know how to order. One thing that I thought was nice was that I could get half noodle half rice, instead of either. Everything looked good there. I had trouble deciding. I went for their Beijing beef and their (signature dish) orange chicken. Portion size is very decent. Yes it's food court quality, but the food sure was satisfying. Their fried rice is a bit on the bland side, but the chow mein (fried noodle) was okay. The meal also includes a fortune cookie. I guess that the only comment is that whoever comes up with the fortunes inside the cookies needs some new ideas and possibly some lottery numbers. My cookie told me nothing useful. Pretty standard Panda Express; nothing to really write home about. My Brother-in-Law and I stopped by and the service was pretty quick; however it was practically empty at the time. Food certainly hits the spot and I think it's decent for the price. I typically get the broccoli beef and teriyaki chicken. I feel like you can't really go wrong with either of these since they respond pretty well to sitting out for longer since there's no crunch to lose. However Maybe I was hungrier that day, but portions seemed a little smaller than I've had in the past. read more

I have been to this Sunset location 3 times and each time the wait time in the drive thru was over 30 minutes. They make the cars wait at the speaker until they complete the other cars order. I feel so sad! I've never felt so torn about doing a review. The staff are amazing! I have never seen people work so hard--and, in my life, I've seen a lot of really hard working people. One of the most amazing things to see--in addition to seeing the constant effort, energy and movement--was that it was as if they had choreographed themselves. I was watching a tightly knit timed dance as they worked the food around each other and to various needs. And they were so nice!!! Alas, the food was not. I sampled a number of dishes. Conveniently located right off Sunset, easy in & out. For an initial visit used the drive thru during these Covid times, only one in line there @ the time so it worked well. Was fortunate to have an employee, Gavin, who was friendly & informative as to the "products" as well as being properly masked & gloved, appreciated. Well it is now January 2, 2020 Panda express also has a new manager and terrible service, STILL. I came in here again and after 2 weeks the Men's room still smells like a sewer. Spoke with the snottest server ( Abby) who told me they clean it everyday. Incorrect. The same area around the toilet has the same crap around it. If they called a plumber and cleaned the bathroom thoroughly, they would not have the smell. This girl was totally a snot and she walked away as she was answering me. I'm just so disappointed. We went when it was busy, which from my experience the food is hot. ALL of our chicken was about room temperature warm, which is a big problem. Our noodles and the vegetables in the chicken were hot, though, so I don't understand what happened. We didn't get silverware, and when we got our food the portions were cheap and small. I remember coming here a year ago and getting this exact same order and when I was handed the bag, it felt heavy. Not today. My first impression was maybe they forgot something, but that wasn't the case. As far as I can taste, Panda Express is slightly better than your local mall food court. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean. They do have a drive thru so it's not necessary to even get out if your car. The food is fresh and is replenished regularly. The prices are fair for fast food but I fell that the popularity of this place is REALLY overrated. read more

As someone who lived in China for several years, I'm well aware of the stark differences between authentic and westernized Chinese food. That being said, I think this Panda is still pretty good. The staff are super friendly and it's a good healthier option (if you play your cards right) than most other fast food, especially in the general vicinity. I would rather have a sound system installed into my bedroom that plays 70 dB of Darth Vaders breathing while I try to sleep than eat at this franchise again. I would rather install a straight shot gutter from the roof of my house that shoots gutter muck right over my head the minute I turn off my shower than come to this Panda Express again. If you look at their closing hours cut out 2 hours. If they close at 10:00 PM that means they wont have anything except chow mein and orange chicken past 8:00PM. I said this before and I'll say it again. Numerous times have I come to the drive through and heard conversations about "Man I need to get off right at 10:00 so I can get to the bars early enough". The food here is always ready on time, always hot, with generous servings, and the servers and staff work their tails off to accommodate. I have always had a fresh meal and when I was working it was always a place for a quick, inexpensive lunch. Pity I can't give a better review as it tries hard to please. Chicken is usually a bit greasy for my taste, beef dishes tasty enough, but hard to chew most times as are the fried rolls. Vegetable dishes and rice fair better. Good Chinese food is generally hard to find here, and considering that great Chinese food is 25 miles north across the border, that Panda is an off-shoot of the Chiang family, that is sad. The last time we got take away from the Bellingham location the food was not up to their usual standards of flavor and quantity but we let it go, everyone can have a bad day. Last night, the take away order was awful on multiple levels... the Broccoli Beef, I kid you not, had only two shreds of beef and the Orange Chicken was rock hard and a very small portion, the Chow Mein was flavorless but abundant, seemingly to give the false impression of heft to the diminutive entrees order. After not eating all day except cereal for breakfast, I was feeling lazy and decided not to cook dinner and order panda instead. I ordered an egg roll (which had dark brown spots that I noticed after the first bite and didn't eat the rest) and orange chicken with chow mein. I've eaten at panda many times before at the same location but an hour after eating this time I got intense sharp stomach pains and nausea. Two hours later I was vomiting and had diarrhea. This is fast food minus the fast. If cruising through the drive-thru be prepared to wait. There is no escaping once locked in by a car behind you. The good news is that the staff have always gotten my order right which you would expect since they take their time with each customer. There is only one drive-thru menu board, and it happens to be where the speaker is, so people tend to hold up the line while they figure out what they want. The pictures on the menu board show a lot more vegetables/fruit with the entrees than you actually get in real life. If you are hankering for a lot of meat, this might be ok with you. Egg rolls are considered an entree, not a side or appetizer. In addition, you only get one with your order. Typical dining options include one, two or three plate entrees with a side. Sides include white rice, brown rice, fried rice or steamed vegetables. For no extra charge, you can divide your side order in half to get half rice and half vegetables. Their fried rice is a bit unusual. It is supposedly healthier because they use brown rice instead of white, but they have swapped out the eggs with sweet corn due to avian flu causing an egg shortage. There are no combos that come with a drink. If you order one of their Pepsi options, expect to pay a few extra dollars. Lately, I've been foregoing the drink since the multiple entree plates alone will cost you $9-11 easily (a fortune for not-so-fast food). On a positive note, each meal is accompanied by a standard fortune cookie. The food is hot and tasty. Some of the chicken bits have had grizzle. Hi They discontinued the cream cheese raggons which we love. Also my fortune cookie did not have a fortune in it. Lastly the food quality has gone downhill. I know their is a pandemic but keep your food good. The Orange chicken was fatty and to much unchewable grissle . they did not chop up the vegetables enough in the chow mein which affected texture.
