But you do get that other traditional Taco Bell feature: the lingering stank of the always-mildewed mop heads they use (to be fair they are a huge pain to keep clean and dry and it just takes that one jerk employee leaving it wet and dirty...but still). Better to just sweep and spot mop than slather all the floors in stank. Aside from the lukewarm meat, constant errors, olfactory deterrence... oh yeah, they pull this move sometimes: you order online to pick up in-store and they'll mess up and think it's for pick up in the drive-thru so they hide the bag up by the steamers where you can't even see it. It's not unusual for orders to take a long time so at first you wait. Then try to ask someone. Good luck. Apparently the self ordering kiosks make employees even less likely to look at/acknowledge the customers so getting an employee to even make eye contact can be quite challenging. I was down in LA years ago and went to this random Taco Bell and it was surreal: the store was clean, didn't actively smell bad (sorta smelled like food actually), and the miracle of all miracles the food was hot. After another decade in SLO county I've yet to come close to repeating the experience. Point being good Taco Bell can be done. But it apparently requires some big confluence of planets and physics that's beyond my ability to grasp. They could at least remember the tomatoes occasionally. Once or twice, just to mix things up. Eating here is just a bummer. Best case scenario they don't mess up your semi-warm food and the store hasn't been mopped recently and you eat and get sorta full in that trademark unsatisfying sort of way. But only if you're lucky, and pay the 15-20 bucks fast food somehow costs now. Sometimes just not eating gets serious consideration. At least I never got a cockroach before but apparently that's a thing now too. Not at all surprising.

Service at the drive-thru was great, the first window where I paid was rude, they weren't in a rush or anything they just came off as really rude, they read the order wrong to me so I reiterated what my order was and they responded that's what I said, and basically toss my money at me. The second window was wonderful, kudos to Ashlyn and Ashlyn one was working the drive-thru outside and one was in the window and the amount of time it took to get to the window I'm not sure if it's the same person who went inside and started working at the window either way yay Ashlyn! I got a flying Dutchman for my mom it's her favorite thing, and a double-double animal style no lettuce tomato as usual. The flying Dutchman had sealed the container because whoever put it in the bag flopped it around so bad that while the cheese was still bubbling hot it's seared to the wall of the container and completely sealed it shut once we pride it open all the cheese had oozed out of the meat and it was laying on its side to where it looked like an L, we just scrape the cheese off put it back on the meat best we could, but my burger... They always throw napkins in which is totally fine but whoever did it the other night decided to poke them into my burger, which was really unfortunate. I never dreamed I would ever give this place anything less than five stars for years and years of exemplary service after I see that an owner or manager has read this I will be giving it five stars.
