    * Visited on a Sunday around brunch with a group of 4 adults & 3 kiddos It was our first time visiting, and this spot is pretty kid friendly for those with kiddos! :) there's an outdoor area where there's a mini play house and toys for kiddos, as well as a corn hole set up. the restaurant itself is quite large, and has plenty of outdoor seating - there is indoor seating, but the majority is outside. The staff is pretty kind, and quick to get your order going as well as drinks. OKAY THE FOOD: * western cheese burger - pretty yummy! It was very filling, especially with tater tots. It's quite large, and honestly perfect for satisfying a good burger. * tater tots - SO CRISPY, I genuinely loved it though it was slightly greasy towards the end of the batch. * duck fat French fries - crispy, and perfect to share with a table. Despite the herbs mixed into the fries, it was a huge hit with the kiddos! * the patty melt - my partner had gotten this, and said it was pretty good too! I was able to have a bite, and might get this for myself next time we visit :)

Colony has a parking lot in the back of the restaurant, which may be easier to access considering there is construction on El Camino. - If you get there at opening time there typically is not a line but otherwise the line can be rather long. I suggest ordering on the website ahead of time and giving yourself 20 minutes for pick up. It was nice to stroll in and grab my to go order without having to wait in line. There are also many options to choose from when you order online such as type of bread and condiments. It's nice to have such a large selection while ordering. - I was able to fill my reusable yeti at the soda station and my all of my food was wrapped in paper and placed in a paper bag to-go. Thank you for being environmentally friendly and skipping the plastic!

Rueben, sauerkraut was very fresh! would order again

Great food, worth the wait! Super fresh ingredients, friendly staff. The old gas station vibe is a fun alternative to the normal sandwich joint. Ice cold beer! Huge portions! I took half my sandwich home to have for dinner, but I ate all the fries on the spot!

tiny roast beef on gluten free bun.

The good: the overall quality of the sandwich. Available gluten free bread. The not so good: the size of the sandwich -- more like a half of a normal a sandwich size. The $3 up charge for the tiny gluten free roll that the sandwich was built on-- nothing good about punishing people with allergies. The terrible: spending $18 (includes tax, gratuity not included)on a tiny roast beef sandwich on a tiny gluten free bun with 2 slices of beef, a piece of cheese, a tomato slice, greens. The wait... wait... waiting for the order. Overall: While the food was fine, the service was slow and price is what I would call disconnected from reality. No chance I'll be coming back here.

Stopped at Colony for a to-go Due South BLT, which includes the B-L and T with their great house colony sauce and bourbon bacon tomato jam. Lots and lots of thick applewood bacon. Excellent combo. Kinda wish, though, that the sourdough bread it was served on was thicker and/or more substantial. Great design of the restaurant, play area and seated area. Wish I had more time to hang.

My husband and I have been disappointed in the fries. Every time we go they are burnt to a crisp. Not enjoyable at all. Other than that we really enjoy eating here... but this is like the fourth time getting burnt fries.

The food is SO good here! And they just got a really cute makeover so the outside area is gorgeous and full of fun things for kids to play while you hang out. My daughters loved it. This was our second time eating here and everyone was happy with their food. The best part to me was the duck fat fries! So flavorful! Fairly quick service and friendly staff. Great spot to stop for a nice meal.

May have just had the best breakfast sandwich ever. The turkey and tot sando on the brunch menu is insanely good . Damn so good.

Looks like the quality is dipping here at colony deli. Hit or miss lately. I guess when the monopoly buys your favorite spot it should be expected.

They're under construction expanding the front eating area but they are still open. Food is good and and service was fast. It's becoming our go to spot for quick bite and drinks. I like that they open early. It was a little loud since they are expanding but thankfully not too dusty.

    Blackened Fish Sando

We came here on my birthday a couple weeks ago and not that it was bad, I just really expected more and really really really wanted to love it. Blackened fish sando was okay. Served on a delicious bun and plenty of fixings, but seriously where's the fish? One measly little piece the size of a chicken finger is no where enough. Only half of the bites taken from this sandwich had fish, such a bummer. The jalapeño coleslaw served on the side was odd. It definitely had a jalapeño forward flavor, which I liked, but it just seemed to be missing something. We were very much looking forward to the duck fat fries but these were the most disappointing. These things couldn't have been soggier. It wasn't for the fact of them sitting out before they were brought to our table, because they were piping hot. The flavor was spot on with the orange zest and rosemary but I just couldn't get past the fact they were so limp and soggy. I will say the colony sauce for dipping was very delicious. As for the Reuben, this was the saving grace. Very delicious Pastrami and the pickles were perfect (guessing they are pickled in-house?). Would definitely order this again if we find ourselves back here. On a side note: service wasn't terrible but just weird. Although friendly, we did notice a few things that could use improving. They didn't take our table number when they brought us our food, in fact we left and drove around the front to head back home and noticed that even ten minutes after we left it was still sitting on the table. I can't imagine that anyone would take the initiative of sitting at that table, assuming that someone is already sitting there and waiting for their food. When brought out a menu item that deemed fork worthy, a remark was made from the server that we needed a fork, yet never came back with one. Countless times we watched the servers grab dishes to clear from the bus bins to make room for more, every time they walked by. However, something that was never touched was the trash. This literally had piled so high that nothing else could possibly be added to it.

The restaurant is located in a very old small gas station building and there is parking in the alley behind, about 10 spaces It was all full today There's only 1 cash register to order and the line is always about 6 deep They have a pizza oven but it wasn't in use & no pizza menu or idea when you can get pizza Today the person who took are order was a black women who messed up the order twice On the food Dan likes The Boss burger We had 3 orders of fish tacos and comparing them to pier 46 they were not even close These tacos are bland, there's only a drizzle of something over the top so all the cole slaw is dry in the taco & it has no seasoning It needs more sauce snd none was given with the tacos Three of us had the tacos and all agreed Pier 46 fish tacos are way better Iso I ordered a kids meal, Boss burger, and 3 orders of fish tacos to go . While waiting I looked at my receipt and saw it said 1 order fish tacos and 1 extra taco , I went back up and said I had 3 orders of fish tacos not 1 of 3 tacos So she charged me for the other two, but I didn't realize she rang up 3 orders With the register they use you can't tell what is being rung up We were told about the overcharge when our take out food came. she overcharged me but gave me a credit so I'll have to check my visa statement (& the credit was there). But who messes up an order that bad twice! They were supposed to have free wine tasting 11 to 4 but no one was there doing any wine pouring There's about 4 tables inside and a rack of Tshirts for sale was blocking access Outside are patio tables about 8 maybe And a cute area Be careful as you enter & leave the inside restaurant, as there is old gas station curb about 3" high that is a tripping hazard It's painted yellow but when you're carrying a couple large bags of take out you don't see it and my boyfriend tripped and twisted ankle but thankfully he's ok I wouldn't go back It's not very relaxing and there's a lot of people getting takeout It's casual & a nice stop if you want to eat and have a beer or wine and a sandwich burger or salad They had frozen wine in 2 flavors Downtown Atascadero needs more places with shaded outdoor dining and beer wine where people can gather like The Backyard in Paso Robles

Gettin' Figgy and the Duck Fries. Go ahead and drool.

Sandwich was fine. Not great, but fine. I don't even remember which sandwich I got, but I recall that it was fine. Price point was moderate.

It's super family friendly, and our son loves the toddler play area. Our nieces also love the arcade games, so it's a great spot for kids and families. The beer is the best we've had in Atascadero, especially the west coast-style pale ales and IPAs like Atasca-where-o, Afraid of the Grade, Mouse Rock, and Hop Clarity. The staff has always been great, the indoor/outdoor space is awesome for groups, and having a full kitchen makes it even better. We even hosted a small lead-in gathering there the night before our son's 1st birthday party, and it was perfect. We're excited to keep coming back and becoming regulars.

This makes total sense knowing that the owners came from San Diego and both worked for PPBC. Being familiar with Wild Fields award-winning brews we settled for the flight and then added some food later. Being a West Coast IPA couple, we were not disappointed with their draft offerings. In addition to IPAs, they have a good representaion of other styles, so there will be something for everyone-as long as they like beer. Wild Fields also puts together a home-brew competion, fuly embracing their community and craft beer roots. The winner gets to brew a batch of their recipe on the house system and this ultra low alcohol, smoked wheat beer was one of the most unique beers I've had. For the food, we had pulled pork and loaded mac-n-cheese. Pulled pork was fine, but I'd prefer more smoke flavor and aroma. For loaded mac, the protein is polish sausage-not something I've seen before. While it somewhat works, I don't think I'd order this again. They also had a ticketed comedy show, which we stayed for after the official closing time on a Saturday. It was fun and totally worth it. With their strong local connections and family atmosphere, Wild Fields in Atascadero is worth the detour from SLO and Paso destinations, especially for families.
