So... Pay very close attention to what I am about to tell you... People who (generally speaking) go to Pancho's, DO NOT go for the ambiance or because they are looking for authentic anything! People who (generally speaking) go to Pancho's, DO go for one of three reasons: 1) It is an ALL YOU CAN EAT "Mexican" Food BUFFET! OR... 2) They have been going to Pancho's since they were a kid and it has ever since been a "LOVE" relationship! OR... 3) BOTH!! I happen to fall into the "BOTH" column, YES! I DO LOVE eating at Pancho's!! After all, you will either love it, or... you will choose to eat elsewhere. But, I will say one thing further on this aspect... those of us who love it, pray daily that Pancho's never, EVER closes its doors! For those of you who, given my apparent biases in favor of Pancho's, are miffed by the 5 Star review, well, you'll just have to rely on your own interpretations - sorry, not sorry. ;p That said, I simply recommend that if you do decide on a Pancho's Mexican Buffet dining experience, you take a little bit of everything from the buffet and see what suits your tastes. I personally build my first pass through the buffet line with: a Chile Relleno (Pablano or Anaheim Pepper deep fried in an egg-batter until puffy) topped with Cheese Sauce... Rice topped with my Refried Beans, further topped with both Cheese Sauce AND Chili con Carne... then, I take Red Chile Stew (cubed Pork with Potatoes in a red sauce) in a side bowl (gives me more room on my plate and doesn't mix flavors)... then, three enchiladas (I normally choose a variety between Cheese, Beef, or "Tex-Mex" - which is cheese and onion filling topped with Chili con Carne - but, there are also Chicken enchiladas and Sour Cream enchiladas from which to choose)... then, I usually take three Beef Crunchy Tacos with a bit of sour cream on the side... and that's Round One! Normally, I will call for two additional Tacos and another bowl of Red Chile Stew . But, if I am either very hungry or haven't eaten at Pancho's in a very long time, it's gonna get ugly, because I am going to try to bleed the buffet dry of something! Did I mention that I love Pancho's?!? I DO!!! So much so that, after returning from serving overseas with the US army and going without Pancho's for many years, I ate so much during my "first visit" that after I returned to my hotel room after eating, I had to (omitted in the interest of tact). Lastly, one must save room for the complimentary, piping hot Sopapillas! They are served with whipped margarine, honey, and sugared cinnamon and, NOBODY makes Sopapillas like Pancho's! (Historical Fact No.1: Pancho's used to serve the Sopapillas once everyone was seated at the table with their food, but sometime in the 1990s they transitioned them to strictly a dessert item). If a hot Sopapilla is something you think you might want WITH your meal, the server will happily bring you some. All one need to do is ask. And, might I suggest they are a great accompaniment to the Red Chile Stew! Like I said, you're either gonna love Pancho's, or decide to get your Mexican food fix elsewhere. My wife happens to prefer elsewhere, but I think that is because she's German... or crazy... or both! ;p As far as the quality of service at Pancho's, well it is somewhat hit and miss, but I always try to remember that anyone can have a bad day and post-COVID, people who are willing to work should be cherished. (Historical Fact No.2: Prior to COVID, the tables at Pancho's were outfitted with small vinyl "Mexican" flags, one would physically "raise" in order to signal one's Server to alert them of a need. No kidding!) The restrooms at Pancho's have always been tidy, but somewhat smelly, which I have attributed to a worn out wax seal on a toilet. I will say if something like this might dissuade you from enjoying your meal/visit, wash up before you arrive, bring hand sanitizer or wipes, and skip the potty break on the way out. I hope you will decide to give Pancho's a try, because businesses tend to close when they are ignored. More importantly, I hope you too will fall in love with this diamond in the rough! Eat well. We tried this place out of a feeling of nostalgia. Wow....really kinda disappointing. It's certainly not the Pancho's we remembered from years past. My daughter was really disappointed the flags were gone....she wanted to introduce her son to them. The restaurant felt a little dingy, the help seemed unmotivated, and our server rarely came by to offer us refills. The food was somewhat inexpensive, but bland. You know... I'm a sucker for Panchos. I feel like it's nostalgia for me. As a kid, my neighbors used to take me there a few times a month. As I've gotten older, if given the chance, I'll go to Panchos for sure. This was your typical Panchos. You arrive and get in line. The line wasn't very long, but it was pretty slow moving. They also didn't seem to have as many or the same selections as I remember. The things that I ALWAYS order, they did have most of them. My favorite thing is the chile relleno. But this time, it wasn't as good as I remember. It seemed to be kind of dry and not as flavorful. I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant wasn't really that clean looking, and tables weren't bused that quickly, despite the restaurant being pretty packed. The lighting was also kind of dim, which is strange. All and all... it wasn't terrible, and I dont live in the area, so I most likely won't be going back. But if I'm ever back in the area, I may consider giving them another shot. read more

I went to Pancho's with my dad today because he was feeling nostalgic for when he'd come here with his parents. The decor of the restaurant is pretty cool; it has a big heavy door and pretty neon signs advertising sopapillas, salsa, and dessert. All of the staff members were friendly. We joined the buffet line and ordered, kind of Chipotle-style, what we wanted. I had two chicken enchiladas and two beef tacos with refried beans. My dad got some tamales, some enchiladas, some tacos, beans, rice, corn, the whole nine yards. We also got sopapillas. The lunch special for all of this is $11.50. It's hard to say if this is a good bang for your buck. I would rate the quality of food lower than Taco Bueno, and I know I could get the same amount of food there for the same price. There's nothing to complain about, but I don't think I'd come back. read more

Pancho's has a serious dilemma on it's hands. First, let me begin by acknowledging that the food here is absolutely delicious and fresh- I drive halfway across the metroplex to indulge in it, but it's amazing food is overshadowed by the restaurant's overall dilapidated appearance. Herein lies the dilemma where you like the food, but cringe at the atmosphere. When you walk in, you are absorbed into a dimly lit vestibule and see the hodgepodge of neon signs, dated decor and faux-adobe partitions that guide you to the buffet line. There is a nostalgia that comes with grabbing your tray and silverware and patiently waiting for your turn to voice your selections ala cafeteria style. The food is served on a hot plate so when you get beans or any dish that has a sauce, the liquid sizzles! The food here- even though it's clearly not authentic Mexican, is delicious and is an Americanized approximation of Mexican food, so understanding that, I'm sure you will find many dishes that are excellent. Some of my favorite selections from Pancho's are the Flautas, Sour Cream Enchiladas and the Chicken Tacos. There are many options to choose from on the buffet and no worries if you fill up your plate. The lovely waitstaff will get you more food once you are seated at your table. The general atmosphere is a cacophony of music, people conversing and daytime television played way too loud- they should look into close-captioning for the TV to cut down on the noise. But if you can drown all that out and focus on the yummy food, then it's worth it. The sweet ladies who work the floor are summoned by raising the flag at your table. They are available to bring additional portions of buffet items, chips and salsa and of course sopapillas. Because the waitress work very hard, I always bring some cash to tip them well and express my appreciation for working in a rather demanding and at times, chaotic environment. Over the years various Pancho's locations have opened and closed throughout the years- all with varying degrees of consistency. This location remains true to good quality but ultimately, it's the lack of care for the atmosphere that really holds this place back. read more

I'll start by saying I've lived in the area for years and I've going to Pancho's for many years, not just this location, but Pancho's from years past, that are long closed. This location has seen better days as the wear and tear on the exterior is noticeable, but there is plenty of parking. Inside, it's dated and hasn't changed since probably the first time I went there. It's Mercado-ish looking with dim lighting. The space is large and there are tables and booths. It isn't fancy or upscale, you won't find any signature cocktails or craft beer. What you will find is modestly priced Mexican buffet, that isn't pretentious, but comfortable and worth the price. Pancho's has some great Tex-Mex favorites, not award winning, but quite tasty. Always served hot and it is all you can eat, so with the number of choices they offer, nobody should leave hungry. Some of my favorites are the Flautas, Cheese Enchiladas and a Beef and Bean Chalupa. Their other dishes are good, Tamales, Rice, they have a Mexican Stew, Chile Relleno's and they may still have Fried Chicken and Sopapilla's. It is a buffet, cafeteria style, line, so you create your own plate on the line, pay, and take a seat at a table/booth of your choice. Drinks, as well as condiments and dessert/ice cream, are from self-serve stations. Their servers bring you chips and salsa and at your request, will bring you as many refills as you want from the dishes available. Their servers, both line and floor, are friendly and work hard. They also have a to-go station at the front and they are so good at take-out. I've never had a bad experience. They put the order together, and before bagging it up, they repeat your order showing everything that is packaged up and ready for you to takeaway. They are my go to, to-go, Christmas Eve meal tradition and have been for years. If you want good, comfort, Tex-Mex, with a bit of nostalgia, go...enjoy it for everything it has to offer. I have never feel so overwhelmed just by walking into a place. Ive been wanting to to try it for years but reviews and the outside looks have always stopped me. Today that wasn't the case, I finally did and i must say it wasn't at all what i was expecting. I wasn't expecting a WOW but i was also not expecting to find what i did. If there was any effort on actually making the food or making the place look like something appealing it will abruptly positively impact this place. I felt so bad that i wanted to call my credit card company and say i was robbed but i also could see the people who work here are totally relying on this income. At the end, for the sake of these employees I really hope the people who own/run this place do something about it. If not, at least i pray the employees can find a job somewhere else.
