Excellent choices for any taste. Was clean for a buffet. It's hard for buffets to stay clean with so many people making messes.

I witnessed open discrimination at this restaurant. I came here with my mom and a young man experiencing homelessness asked me if I could help him get some food. I brought him inside with us, but the staff refused to seat him purely because of how he looked. They openly admitted it was because he "looked homeless" and claimed they'd had issues with homeless people before. That is unacceptable. He was calm, respectful, and simply wanted to eat. Instead of treating him like a human being, they humiliated him. I ended up buying him food and giving him money myself, because the restaurant would not serve him. If a business operates in a community with a high unhoused population, banning them is not a solution it's discrimination. It's shameful, and it speaks volumes about their values. read more

If I could give no stars I would as this is probably the worse Chinese food I have ever gotten. Crab Rangoon's just over fried like they had been cooked and just sitting out and refried. I went for dinner here on a Saturday, the places was packed, the floor was so sticky that when I walked you cold hear the sticky sound between my shoes and the floor. The food were not refilled fats enough, there were empty trys unfilled for so long that even when I left it was still empty. The salt and pepper shrimp were really good, there was not enough snow crab legs because as soon as they bring it out people swarm to it and pile up so when it's your turn there was literally nothing left. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. The wonton soup tasted like they literally boiled the wonton wrappers in the soup. There was an untiled soup that had shrimp in it, that soup I have no words to describe what it was or what it was supposed to taste like. I was not able to finish that soup, yes, it was that bad. The fried green beans were really flavorful but they had never refilled it so I wasn't able to come back for seconds. Their "cheese imitation crab" dish, I didn't taste any cheese or mayo, just imitation crab. Their black clams had flavor but every clam had dirt in them so it was very unpleasant. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Overall I wouldn't come back, the food was not worth the drive that I made. read more

At what place do you get your food faster than fast food? This place. Imagine being a blue collar worker, busting your butt out at the job site and then finally getting that 30 minutes of lunch. There's no way you're gonna get away with hitting up the restaurant at peak lunch hour and delivery charges are like an arm and a leg. Besides, you're starving and possibly dehydrated. You need a spot to kick back. This place is it. You and your coworkers pull up in a truck or van, walk in as coworkers and leave as friends. You did it, now it's time to take a nap in the car...unless you're driving, then you gotta nap while no one is watching. When you walk in, you'll be in a huge empty lobby that may possibly used to be bustling with people. Your greeter will take you to a table and ask what drink to bring. You sit down awkwardly just to get back up since you've been cleared to go find your grub. Within moments you'll have both hands full, holding two plates of your standard mediocre Chinese buffet food. You destroy your plates. You got some extra time on your hands? Go hit up the hibachi and have the chef make you something fresh! The sushi is substandard, and while there was crawfish, I didn't try any. It looks like there are several folks that aren't too big on Ocean. I've been there about 10+ times and never had a bad meal. There is a big difference between going there during slow time and when it is busy - and it does get busy. I'm one of those people that likes to try a little of a variety of dishes. Some are better than others. I may have 8 or 10 different things on my plate - never noodles or rice. I enjoy their sushi. It isn't Gulf Coast sushi but it is tasty enough and they have a sushi chef on duty. I really enjoy their green beans, great flavor and not overcooked. The chicken dishes are tasty as well. I always add a little seafood to my plate and so far it has been fairly good. The hot and sour soup needs a little sriracha to zing it up - then it is very good. Keeping food hot and fresh is not easy, especially with such a huge variety. We like to go first thing - they open at 11 - when everything is fresh and hot. This last time we were there a server asked us if everything was OK and made sure our water glasses were full. When I've been there during peak hours the service is not so great. It is not a 5 star restaurant. We get our fill. We enjoy the variety. I can't think of a reason not to at least try it - it may not be your cup of tea but as buffets go, we think it is pretty good. They do have soft serve ice cream for those so inclined. read more

This buffet is a great value. They have a wide array of offerings and are very attentive at keeping the food replenished. The quality of the food varies from dish to dish; some being of higher caliber than others but seeing as this is a very reasonably priced buffet; it's permissible. The mainstay staples of the typical Asian buffet are done quite well here. Orange Chicken, Fried Rice and Pot stickers are consistently delicious and fresh and serve as a nice complement to their other more unusual fare. Some of my favorite items from the buffet are the Panko Breaded Shrimp, the Fried Fishballs and the Black Pepper Chicken. They are also serve top notch sodas. They are always correctly formulated and are a great companion to the food. One arena where this establishment does fall short is in the Sushi department. They definitely skimp on the meat and the rolls have a tendency to easily fall apart. The decor here is eccentric East meets West. It's a visual battle between hundreds of feet of neon tubing, a giant crystal chandelier in the shape of a massive schooner and flat screen televisions set against more delicate design elements. The music played here is power pop. I've heard everything from Jay-Z, to Enrique Iglesias and Lady Gaga played here. It definitly creates a high energy vibe that is refreshing in contrast to other buffets I've been to that opt for sedate Muzak. The staff and service here is very friendly. Everytime I have been here, I am always greeted with sincere smiles and I feel as if the people who work here are happy with their environment. Overall, I give this place threes stars because some of their dishes and Sushi could stand to be improved. Maybe its because of Covid-19. This place has taken a drastic change service wise and with the choice of options.. I learned my lesson in the five minutes I was there. First the guy at the front desk was incredibly rude. He literally yelled at us for coming in. My family was their first customer at 1130am on a Saturday. They no longer have a hibachi station nor a sushi station and half of the buffet stations were covered on tarp. Darkness filled the seating area. I understand loss of revenue from Covid-19 but if a restaurant wants business, they should be upfront on changes. We would have eaten as the selections that we were there looked good. 9/20/21 Went for lunch. Parking lot not too busy. Walking up to the front door began to give me insight as to what we were to encounter. The entry sidewalk has as much gum on it as cement. the glass on the front doors looked as though they had not been cleaned in months. Entering the lobby and seeing the non working water feature, the plastic covid wall to the ceiling, and the dilapidated hostess desk, was only a prelude. We were seated at a table that rocked so bad, we moved ourselves to a less rocking table, all the seats on the chairs were worn out or torn, tables chipped, broken, floor dirty walls dirty, etc. SO the food . . . . boiled shrimp tasted bad (old), beef and broccoli was cold, sesame chicken was rock hard, and that folks was my que to walk out. I took an out of town guest here because I had been in previous years, and it had been very good. Now the place is unsightly inside and out. The parking lot was full of trash. Sad. There is nothing here that could not be remedied through good direction and management. NO excuse for dirty, no excuse for rocking tables, or old food. Would be nice to see this place restored to it's old splendor. Until I read or see different reviews here I will not be back. I apologized to my guest. read more

The food is okay. When was escorted to be seated, we were asked what we like to drink. My question was, is it included with the price? I was told yes, soy husband and I got sodas. When we go to pay the check, we get charged for drinks. It's not like I can't afford it but my husband and I don't really drink enough to make the extra expense. We all know that the mark up is high with drinks. Anyhow, they refused to remove the cost of the drinks because the hostess would not own up to saying drinks were included. It's not about the money but the principal. They didn't care about customer service and so I will stand never to go again and make this known. A decent buffet in the suburbia to enjoy with family. Their hibachi is surprisingly really good with the meat tasting fresh. Nothing special on the sushi so don't expect much. It's mainly abundant in rice and not so much filling for the sushi. Everything else like lo mein, orange chicken, soup, shrimp, crab....I can't really complain for the price of $9-$10 (kids under 10 yrs old eat for $4.99 during weeknights for dinner). Lo mein was very soft and delish. Fried food is plentiful....there's butterfly shrimp, chicken nuggets, egg rolls, fried rice, and etc. I must say that their shrimp is great. It has a very light battered seasoning and perfect for flavor as you peel the shrimp with your mouth. (Those were hogged alot at the Restaurant). FYI to crab lovers, there's also this small crab that is fried and packed with crab meat...on the weekends they serve crab legs. Other seafoods are salmon, flounder, mussels, and crawfish. Don't get excited about the crawfish.....it's not flavorful like you would find at the Boiling Crab. In fact, the crawfish was pretty bad to me, so eat with caution. For dessert, theres ice cream cones, fruit, banana pudding, chocolate cake, and etc! The restaurant is very spacious and clean looking. It also has a touch of class with its glass chandelier and water fountain for decoration. Service is great. The waiters/waitresses are very attentive and cleans off plates at the table every 15min. So, I have heard good things about this buffet & finally decided to give it a try... Price wise, very affordable, selection wise, many options - however, I felt like, every selection, had a "fish taste" and, for one who don't like fish, this is a problem. I did like, the steak tips with veggies, and that was my go-to... The spring roll, was straight cabbage - and, as a fan of cabbage, and spring rolls, I had to pass as it was "too much..." The hibachi grill, had good options, however, it lacked options for seasonings, and sauce... And that, caused it to taste a lot like the cooking oil.... Now, I don't do crab legs, or sea food, and they had a lot of options for this - so, that may be the best of the best - but, I didn't try! Wait staff, eh. The waiter, who is only responsible for taking plates and refills, lacked this part.. We had to ask several times, for this, when, it should have been easily taken care of. There are only a few which I can say is a decent Chinese buffet place. Ocean was not in that category but it wasn't too bad. The cleanliness was just border line and the food options were the same. The did have some rolls but they were just ok.. There were a couple of dishes that was worth eating twice but others you just had one bite and that was enough. When I called in and asked what the dinner price was the man on the phone told me $8.99 or something like that. When we walked in it was not $8.99 it was the same as other places.. $10.99 or more. I don't remember what the exact price was because it was awhile back.. I asked for a fork and the server never came back with a fork just kept staring into space. Amazingly Poor Chinese Buffet We just had dinner at the Ocean Buffet and it is definitely below average in practically all respects. The hibachi grill was downright scary - the zoned-out "chef" (that would be the guy with the in-ear headphones that doesn't speak to you - at all) mixed two raw eggs for another dish and then used the same spatulas (with the raw egg still on them - uncleaned) to finish turning over my already cooked order. The meat at the hibachi grill was the cheapest meat I've encountered at a restaurant - small, very red little bits that were almost entirely gristle - dog food perhaps - it was definitely not sliced steak. To make things worse, there is only one small row of actual Asian dishes - the rest of the place is a hodge-podge of deserts and fried American-style food (pizza, etc.). Honestly, there are more cookies, fruits, and salad-type dishes than entrees! All of the fruit was unripe so I held out some hope for the ice cream machine. Nope! The ice cream machine was spewing out grainy, slimy wet stuff that I suppose could be confused with ice cream. Looking for sushi? Don't come here - there were about four variations of California Rolls - that's it. There are substantially better Asian buffets in Dallas - Plano and Rockwall have much nicer and cleaner choices. Who knew there were so many ways to make chicken?! They should change the name from Ocean Buffet to Chicken Buffet because that's pretty much all they got. Ocean Buffet used to be my favorite Chinese buffet in the Dallas area because the food was always fresh, prices cheap, dining room was clean and the wait staff were attentive. But over the past year or so they've lost it somewhere. It seems Ocean Buffet is trying to please too many people at the same time. Meaning, when I go to Chinese buffet I want something Asian style..not macaroni & cheese, pork chops, mashed potatoes with a big old glass of Horchata to wash it down with. If you don't want that then pretty much all you have left over is chicken in some variation of sugary/salty goo. The sushi is the only thing A). Not made of chicken and 2). Not soaked till mushy in mystery sauce...so this alone is worth going for. Ocean Buffet is still my go-to place for Sushi and the wait staff are nice although sometimes just too busy. The atmosphere is anything but relaxing because of all the small screaming children of "Latin Descent" allowed to run around like they were at Chuck E. Cheese or the city park while their dead-eyed parents sit in total ignorance...or maybe that's just their parenting style.
