What a super-nice experience at Cake N Bake!…read more The family has been craving cake for a couple days. I haven't done much baking because of the sweltering heat in SCV. I mentioned seeing Cake N Bake on Yelp a few weeks ago and the daughter went into a rabbit hole. She read reviews, looked at pictures and found TikTok videos. We're so glad to have finally taken the quick drive to Sun Valley. You can't miss the elegantly simple white building just before the corner of Vineland and Saticoy. We had a pretty good idea of our choices, but it was fun to look at all the tempting flavors. We chose... Dot Cake Birdie Tiramisu Vanilla-Crunchy Hazelnut Choco-Crunchy Hazelnut Choco-Nutella Banana Pudding Pear Our daughter could not wait to dive into the Dot Cake and she absolutely loved it. It was fresh with a wonderfully tender and moist crumb. The frosting was perfectly sweet. My husband had his favorite Tiramisu. He was very quiet as he devoured it. :) I had the Birdie slice. Beautifully layered with honey and custard, then topped with dark chocolate. All the flavors were distinct, yet all came together deliciously. We saved the rest for later....just not sure how much later. :) Excellent service today from the young lady in the super-cute denim outfit. We'll be back to try more flavors!

The food is fresh, wonderfully prepared and comes out quickly. If this country ran like Porto's, we'd be exporting more, and importing less. It's a smooth, friendly machine. I could spend a year trying everything on the menu, thank dawg I don't live here. The pastries all look Devine. Bonus points for some compostable items and, a big one for me, NOT prompting me to add a tip to deliver my plate to the table after ordering from the counter! Tipping people for simply doing their jobs (Starbucks), has gone way too far). I love this place. I can't wait to come back.

If I buy directly from their bakery, I think they might be a much better quality. It was nice to try them out. I would not go out of my way to purchase more. When you frequent local events, both large and small, where small, independent vendors congregate,…read moreyou kind of get used to this positive energy that permeates everything, from the hardworking craftsmen, bakers, cooks, and sellers plying their trades, to their carefully-made products, each with its own individual charm. I'm talking about events like the 626 Night Market during the Summer in Arcadia, the OC Night Market in Costa Mesa, Chinatown Summer Nights in, well... Chinatown, and many others. Even then, you sometimes come across a particularly cool vendor that just exudes passion for what they do. David is one of those people. Of the years I've been running into him, he's always happy and positive, despite being hounded on all sides for his delicious cookies and truffles. It makes buying these carefully-crafted delicacies that much more pleasurable. Now, on to the good stuff! You will find some of the craziest cookie flavors you've ever heard of when you walk up to this booth; but don't let that deter you. When done right, the craziest combinations usually turn out to be the most amazing. The sweet Habanero cookie is among the most popular, and I can personally attest to the fact that if you love sweet & spicy foods, you may end up falling in love with this one. They have a great selection of other flavor combinations, as well, including Coffee Toffee- with strong chocolaty notes- Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal with just a hint of salt to round it out perfectly, and a few others. If you can't decide, they're always handing out free samples, which usually narrows down the options. They also know how to make a mean truffle. They're rich, decadent, and hefty, (probably due to the cake batter-like texture), and look so pretty, it's almost impossible to shovel it all into your mouth without feeling a bit guilty. Didn't stop me, though. And they're all packed so neatly, they also make great gifts. Just make sure you don't leave them in a hot car or carry them around in direct Sunlight, as they will go south quickly. The prices are fair for what you get, and considering the amazing people you're buying from, this is one booth you can walk away from feeling perfectly satiated.

Everything tastes so fresh and thoughtfully made, and you don't feel uncomfortable or bloated afterward. I also had such a wonderful experience meeting the owner and executive chef, Rubina. They weren't too sweet or too heavy, and the texture, flavor balance, and sweetness were just perfect. You can really tell there's so much love and care put into what they make. I went with like 6 cupcakes of different kind, and they looked AMAZING!! Got Chocolate cupcake, berry cupcake with light frosting on top, & Red Velvet Cupcake for me and my son to share. For lunch, I ordered the Loaded Chilaquiles. As a guy, the portion size of this was massive for me! Two people can honestly share this dish. These weren't the best chilaquiles I've had, but the portion size relative to the price made up for it. The chips were relatively crispy and there was a generous amount of asada meat (you can choose your choice of meat). I got this with the green sauce and it was a good amount of spice heat for me. Overall, this was a solid dish. I also ordered the banana bread slice which was also large. The slice wasn't dry and was pretty good and comforting. There's both indoor and outdoor seating and tables. No bathroom unfortunately. The staff here were super nice. Also, I saw a lot of reviews mentioning this place has parking behind the restaurant. However, I spoke with the staff and you can't park there as it's reserved for a nearby bank. You can either park in front of the restaurant or its street parking.

I'm especially in love with their mousse desserts! During my most recent visit, I tried the Banana and Coffee Bean, and they were both phenomenal. Each one had a delicate, crunchy outer shell with an incredibly soft, creamy, and airy mousse filling inside. The Banana had a fresh banana purée-like filling that added a nice fruity flavor, while the Coffee Bean had a delicious mocha-like center. Beyond tasting amazing, both desserts were absolutely beautiful and almost too pretty to eat! My only wish is that they had a little bit of cake incorporated into them for some additional texture, but that certainly didn't stop me from enjoying them. They also have a great variety of cakes, cookies, macarons, éclairs, and croissants. Everything looked absolutely stunning and heavenly. I could easily spend way too much time here trying to decide what to take home! I also appreciated that the prices were very reasonable, and the staff was polite, welcoming, and helpful. My sister and I actually discovered this spot together while I was visiting her, and it has quickly become one of her new favorites! I'll definitely be back to try more of their beautiful creations.

The staff was also very friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately, the pastries themselves were a major disappointment. Being generous, I'd rate the taste a 1/5 and the value a 0/5. About 90% of what I had was just cream filling with very little flavor. They looked incredible but tasted bland and one-dimensional. For the prices they charge, I expected much more. What makes it even harder to justify is that they're priced similarly to Artelice, which not only delivers on presentation but also on taste. In my opinion, Artelice is in a completely different league. If you're nearby and need a one time gift for someone you'll probably never buy pastries for again, sure, these might impress visually. But if you're buying for yourself or for people whose opinion you'll actually hear again, this is a hard pass. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10 minutes to Artelice. You'll get pastries that are just as beautiful and significantly more delicious. I left genuinely disappointed and won't be returning. One star is for the aesthetics, and the other two stars are for the friendly service. The pastries themselves simply didn't live up to their appearance.
