I've been coming here ever since I was little. I would pass by this spot every single day up until high school and I wanted to feature this place on my TikTok because it has a special place in my heart knowing how my friendly the staff are. My family would always by pan dulce from here. I went on Monday, July 21st and was greeted and served very nicely. The staff are always helping you select a good variety and I even asked for some recommendations of their favorites. I bought 5 pan dulces which came out to $8.75 ($1.75 per pan dulce) My favorite of the 5 were (1) the concha which is super soft and fluffy. They come in 4 different colors but the way you take that first bite, wow I inhaled the pan. (2) La Estrella (the star) which comes in either pink or white icing. Think of it like a sugar cookie but it's not overly sweet. The icing gives it a good layer of some added sweetness. (3) This is my childhood favorite which is called "the pastelito" or little cake that is on the top of the showcase when you look at the pan dulces. It's two layers with the bottom covered by a jam and then the top is a little bit of frosting with sprinkles on top. I usually have this with a glass of milk or any drink since it can be in the dry side but that's okay because I know I want to eat it with a drink. Overall an amazing place and I highly recommend anyone who is in the area to try it out. read more

They had a good amount of tamales, all yummy, traditional recipes de Mexico, and they were all fair prices. If you get a plate there instead of to-go, they serve tamales with rice or bread. Found this local panaderia one night when I wanted some abuelita and pan. I showed up as they were putting the breads away for the night but managed to pick some cuernitos and galletas up along with others. Man oh man. The cuernitos and pan de elotes were so flavorful and sweet. I picked some more up yesterday to have for Noche Buena. If you're local to the 818 you gotta check this spot up. I've been told I'm like a pregnant woman, in a sense that I get weird food cravings out of no where. But when the cravings strike me, I have to obey!!! It just so happens that my cravings desired chocolate and more chocolate that week. I called Panaderia Mexico and asked them to help subdue this craving of mine. The drive to pick up the cake was so much easier than the drive back. It was almost unbearable holding myself back from munching down on the cake on the ride back home. CHOCOLATE CAKE, WITH CHOCOLATE FROSTING, WITH MELTED CHOCOLATE ON TOP!!! The frosting layer was an inch thick!!! But that's not the best part! Oscar made an entire layer of crumbled Oreos, mixed in with the chocolate frosting. Just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye. I definitely found my new place for birthday cakes (or for crazy cravings cakes)!! While the cake was definitely the highlight, I couldn't leave the bakery without getting a few treats that they had on display. Once Upon A Time In Mexico... Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek and Johnny Depp eat your heart out, Panaderia Mexico needs its own IMDb. Living about a block away from this heavenly sent sweet bread destination I finally stepped in for the first time a couple of days ago. I was greeted by no other than Oscar A. who gave me brief information and little trivia about this place. Colors! I love colors. I noticed immediately the pan dulce in it's distinctive complexions. Not only do you get sweet bread here but there's a section for hot mexican traditional food, drinks, and ice cream aka paletas! Don't worry you non eaters there's a magazine stand for your reading pleasures ;) Smelling the aromatic smells of what the bakery offers made me fall in love. I'm now waving a white flag on trying to encounter cupcake places and have moved onto pan dulce mode. The generous Mr. Cool Oscar gave me an Rosca de Reyes to try out. (Rosca = Ring, Reyes = Kings; Three kings cake where you find a baby jesus baked somewhere in the bread) I went home and pretty much destroyed the bread in pieces. Soft, not too sweet, not too bland, very tasty... I looked like my hamster storing food into my cheeks. Yelpers are a generous bunch. While planning Skylar's going away party, Oscar A graciously offered to bring a cake from his bakery. Which turned out to be the bakery that Skylar always wanted to get a cake from! How lucky is that!? I knew Miss Skylar loved chocolate and I do too but I was torn...I'm looking for the best tres leches cake. Much to my joy, Oscar said he would make us a chocolate tres leches cake! And it was so wonderful with strawberries and I even ate the whipped cream (I never eat whipped cream!). Mmm, what a moist and fluffy cake. This place is simply amazing. There are no words to describe how great the customer service is and the food. I came here for the champurrado once and since then I'm hooked. They have a selection of hot drinks at the front counter and they let you taste samples so you don't end up with something you don't like. Their Mexican bread selection is freshly made daily and it's a wide variety. They have some typical Mexican dishes ready too. Their green salsa is fire and on point. The flavor is great. It was sooo disappointing! I called to order a tres leches cake and found that no one there spoke English. No problem! I was with a Spanish-speaking friend. Erick helped me to order the cake and we were all set -- she said it was a round tres leches cake to serve 8 people held under my name. Another friend went to pick up the cake the next day. They had no idea what she was talking about. Robyn practiced her Spanish, giving my name and explaining what she was picking up. Eventually, they figured it out and gave her the cake. Fast forward to serving the cake -- we slice it and discover that is it NOT a tres leches cake at all. It is a plain vanilla layer cake, and not a very good one at that. Buyer beware! read more

I don't know what made me give this place another try after the poor tamale I had the last time around. I usually treat myself to a tamale or two after my haircut every 2 weeks. The last time I had a tamale here it was mostly masa but I was in the mood for a tamale and decided to swing by and support a local small business. I walked in and was not acknowledged instead the man who I assume is the owner is sitting down and having a conversation with a customer.
