    Moldy sweets. Hairy and rotting!

Bought some sweets today and when I got home I realized it's hairy and molding!! I've been calling them to let them know and they hung up on me. Disgusting.

I used to come here often for the lahmajun ( Armenian pizza) it's flat bread with ground beef or veggies. I have to say they dropped the quality but it is still ok.. They also make bread and pastries. The sweets are ok but the bread they can do better. I think too much yeast and it's very doughy which is also fattening.

Lahmajoun. Refrigerated, not a good amount of meat..

Today i left class wanting to get some lahmajoun. I was in the Noho area so i decided to yelp and see where was rated the best for lahmajoun. I can honestly say that no place tops off Arts Bakery in Glendale for their lahmajouns, ponchiks, etc. I found this place due to the ratings, and decided to stop by. First of all, its a small store. Not many options. I asked for lahmajoun and hoped it would be coming out of the back where its hot and fresh. Instead they had a few stacks refrigerated and gave them to me. I was like fine, ill just warm them up myself at home. I also asked for meat pirashki, which they didnt make, so i got potato. I saw that they also had Napelons, so i got a couple of those. Finally, to top it off, i grabbed two Puri breads and left. Heres my thoughts. Lahmajoun- Very dry, absolutely no meat, unless if it was like mixed in with the red sauce that was on top? Arts Bakery lahmajoun literally breaks apart from the juicy meat they put on top and they actually bake them on the spot instead of refrigerating them. Pirashki- Cold as well. No flavor. Havent found the right pirashki place yet. Napelons- HONESTLY, i cannot complain about them, they are so fresh and crispy, not wilted inside. However, i guess they use buttercream instead of whip cream/custard, so it has a very odd texture. Breads- Very fresh no complaints. I think today was not the right day to come in, however, the ladies were nice and the bread and napelon were great. So i might be back again.

The crust is crisp and golden, and the inside is soft with a slight chew. It has that mild sourdough tang, plus a subtle earthiness from the black rice and a warm hint of turmeric. It's balanced and flavorful without being heavy. I also love how clean the ingredients are. Organic flour, filtered water, sourdough starter, salt, black rice, turmeric. No yeast, no artificial coloring. Beautiful loaf, clean ingredients, and great flavor. I'll definitely be back.

From the moment you walk in, you get the sense that everything here is made with intention -- not just in presentation, but in the quality of ingredients and care in baking. First off, everything tastes genuinely fresh. Several visitors rave about how "really yummy and made with fresh ingredients!" their pastries and breads are -- and that sentiment shows up again and again in online reviews. The classic Armenian gata pastry is especially popular, with a rich, buttery flavor and just the right balance of sweetness that feels traditional but elevated. What's really impressive is how the bakery balances heritage Armenian favorites with creative, contemporary twists. On their menu you'll find staples like lavash, barbara, puri, and matnakash -- all crafted with care -- alongside sourdough loaves and specialty breads that incorporate interesting flavor elements like turmeric, pomegranate, and even charcoal. One regular reviewer called the sourdough "great flavor... crusty exterior and light, fluffy inside," which speaks to real attention to bread science and fermentation technique -- not just baking for the sake of quantity but crafting for texture and depth of taste. Beyond the bread and pastry quality, the vibe here is warm and welcoming. Reviewers consistently mention friendly staff and wonderful service, and the atmosphere feels casual and inviting -- perfect for picking up something special for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet treat with coffee. In short: Art House Bakery isn't just another run-of-the-mill bakery -- it's a place where fresh, thoughtfully chosen ingredients shine, and where you can taste the difference in every bite. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys well-crafted breads and pastries that blend tradition with creativity.

Upon entering there are shopping carts and baskets. Take a rolling one (trust me) and get ready for a wonderful store filled with food stuffs that will make you swoon. The neatly stacked shelves are filled with things like chocolate, jam, pasta, tinned seafood, chips, and pasta are all neatly organized. Tags indicating country of origin (largely from Europe) are helpful. There are refrigerators full of charcuterie, cheese, and French butter. The best part of the visit was meeting the owner. He was enthusiastic and extremely informative! He told us that everything in the store was sampled and scrutinized for taste and quality. He knew everything about the products and why they were sourced. He helped me find a delicious arbequina olive oil from Italy and tins of sardines packed it butter. Swoon.
