Let me just say, finding a good pan de dulce spot is not easy as it may seem. There are many but I have to say, this one didn't disappoint. The concha's are not dry and bland. They are just the thing you want with a hot cup of coffee. I also tried their guava turnover and they were delicious. Not stingy at all with the filling and the size is great! The bolillos are great. They carry bolillos filled with jalapeños and cream cheese. I learned today they are called "bolillos machos". Yeah I grabbed plenty of those. They were so good! This place makes you feel more than at home. You feel as if you own the bakery! You are literally grabbing the bread off of the racks, fresh out of the oven. The staff is kind and helpful. The minute you walk in the door you are hit with the aroma of fresh baked bread, so good you can taste it! The place is clean, well organized, and neat. They have a variety of cold and hot drinks, traditional Mexican candies and chips. Price is more than reasonable and affordable. Street parking only. But not a problem. Even though it's an hour from home, I can guarantee I'll be coming back!

    Dry roscas

I used to love this place however lately their pan has been dry. SUPER dry. Even the roscas do not look appetizing.

You can pick the bread straight out of the freshly baked trays.

oh man, Pan Dulce doesn't get better than this. It's always fresh, warm and so delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Forget the grocery store for bolillos/taleras. I stepped in here and asked the gentleman at the counter what they had. He proceeds to hand me a sheet tray and tongs and leads me to THIS. Hot and fresh! Also, this panaderia smells like HEAVEN ON EARTH. 6 sandwich rolls and two sweet pastries cost $4.50!! 20/10 would recommend. I'll definitely be back Asombroso!

I'm talking about events like the 626 Night Market during the Summer in Arcadia, the OC Night Market in Costa Mesa, Chinatown Summer Nights in, well... Chinatown, and many others. Even then, you sometimes come across a particularly cool vendor that just exudes passion for what they do. David is one of those people. Of the years I've been running into him, he's always happy and positive, despite being hounded on all sides for his delicious cookies and truffles. It makes buying these carefully-crafted delicacies that much more pleasurable. Now, on to the good stuff! You will find some of the craziest cookie flavors you've ever heard of when you walk up to this booth; but don't let that deter you. When done right, the craziest combinations usually turn out to be the most amazing. The sweet Habanero cookie is among the most popular, and I can personally attest to the fact that if you love sweet & spicy foods, you may end up falling in love with this one. They have a great selection of other flavor combinations, as well, including Coffee Toffee- with strong chocolaty notes- Salted Caramel Apple Oatmeal with just a hint of salt to round it out perfectly, and a few others. If you can't decide, they're always handing out free samples, which usually narrows down the options. They also know how to make a mean truffle. They're rich, decadent, and hefty, (probably due to the cake batter-like texture), and look so pretty, it's almost impossible to shovel it all into your mouth without feeling a bit guilty. Didn't stop me, though. And they're all packed so neatly, they also make great gifts. Just make sure you don't leave them in a hot car or carry them around in direct Sunlight, as they will go south quickly. The prices are fair for what you get, and considering the amazing people you're buying from, this is one booth you can walk away from feeling perfectly satiated.

The Line Told Me Everything I Needed to Know…read more Stumbled upon this spot after nearby Japanese BBQ, and what immediately caught my attention was the line -- probably around 20 people deep. Naturally, I asked a random customer what all the hype was about, and they told me this place was famous for their croissant pastries. Well... next thing you know, I'm standing in line too after a very full lunch. I ended up trying the Chocolate Almond Croissant for $6.50, and let me tell you something -- I am a HUGE croissant girlie. While I'm not normally the biggest chocolate person, Spain and Portugal recently changed my perspective on dark chocolate, and apparently now I'm in my dark chocolate era. And honestly? This croissant was BETTER than the super popular pastry we had in Barcelona, Spain. The chocolate wasn't overpowering at all -- it had the perfect amount of dark sweetness without being too rich. But the real surprise was the almond filling layered at the bottom. Oh my gosh... chef's kiss. Nutty, creamy, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced. Chocolate Almond Croissant -- 9.2/10 I can only imagine how life-changing this would taste fresh out of the oven piping hot.
