We've always enjoyed this restaurant for the ambiance food & service and occasionally came specifically for their foie gras, so we were disappointed to learn it was removed from the menu just last week. Still, we decided to stay and have dinner. We had a 6:30 reservation but arrived 10-15 minutes early and were seated right away since the dining room had plenty of open tables. We ordered oysters, ceviche, and soup to start -- all three appetizers were brought out at the same time without checking if we preferred them staggered. The oysters were fresh and the soup tasted good, but the ceviche was just okay. The bigger issue was the wine service. We ordered a bottle of white wine to enjoy with our seafood, but waited nearly 30 minutes with all the appetizers already on the table and still no wine. We had to ask multiple times before it finally arrived -- and unfortunately it was room temperature. They told us it was their last bottle and needed 15-20 minutes to chill it on ice. Since our food was already getting warm on the table, we asked for a different chilled bottle, but that too took a long time to come out. By the time we finally had wine, it had been about 40 minutes since we were seated. Service continued to slip. A buss boy arrived carrying entrées for the wrong table, trying to make room on our already full table of empty appetizer plates. This created more confusion before our actual dishes -- a rack of lamb and sides -- eventually arrived. The food itself was good, but the overall experience was disappointing. Even at the end, our wine glasses were empty and our server walked past without checking the bottle or refilling them. We had to ask him to please check our bottle and pour the remaining wine. For a restaurant with premium pricing and a long-standing reputation, we expected far better service and attention to detail. The staff felt untrained and unorganized throughout the evening. The manager did come by after we'd already paid and offered dessert on the house, which we appreciated, but at that point we were no longer in the mood. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we won't be returning. Very nice atmosphere, excellent service, and good food We got filets medium rare, cooked perfectly and decent quality but not as tender as one would expect. Skillet bread was fantastic as was the wedge salad. Green beans almondine were good though I've had better. Mashed potatoes seemed fresh but too salty for my wife's and my liking. Flan cheesecake and chocolate volcano cake were good though the chocolate volcano seemed to lack the traditional runny chocolate center. I'm extremely disappointed with how my son was treated at Pampas in Duluth. He made an 8:00 PM reservation to celebrate both his girlfriend's birthday and their one-year anniversary. He has dined here multiple times before and typically spends around $300 per visit, so he was excited to return for a special occasion. When they arrived, there were plenty of guests being seated wearing very casual attire--football jerseys, basketball shorts, jeans, and hats. My son, on the other hand, was dressed nicely in khaki dress shorts and a dress shirt. The only issue, apparently, was that he was wearing open-toed leather Birkenstock-style sandals--shoes he has worn there before without any problem. This time, however, they refused to seat him. We asked to speak with a manager, but she would not make any exception. What made the situation worse was the inconsistency and double standard: women were allowed to wear open-toed shoes and sandals as part of their outfits, but my son was told he could not be seated for doing essentially the same thing. When I questioned this, I was told it was acceptable for women "if it looks cute," which is incredibly unprofessional and unfair. To add insult to injury, as my son was leaving, the manager laughed and said, "boy that was fun." That level of disrespect is unacceptable, especially toward a young couple celebrating something meaningful. We ended up calling another nearby CUTS steakhouse, and they welcomed my son immediately. He said the service and food there were far better, amazing in his words I also reached out to the general manager and have yet to receive any response. If Pampas wants to enforce a dress code, it should be clearly stated and applied consistently to everyone. This experience felt arbitrary, unprofessional, and frankly disrespectful. We went for the first time recently and had a solid experience. Ambiance is very old but clean. Kind of heavy old glamour. I'd imagine ppl smoking cigar, kind of feel. Bathroom was nice, big enough and clean. Beware, there's a dress code. Although I don't think they strictly enforce it. Everything we ordered was either very good or good. Steak, scallops, Seabass. We also had Brussels, sweet, potato fries, and sautéed mushrooms, fritto misto, corn and lobster soup, and shrimp cocktail. Steak quality is very good!! My only real negative about food is that I thought the brussels sprouts and cauliflower was a bit on the overdone side. Check out my leftover. The picture I took at the restaurant is too dark because of the overall ambience of the restaurant. The dolce de leche crepe was also drowning in dulce de leche that it was quite overpowering. Flavor was nice. With the dress code and the price point, I think we won't return unless a very special (and specific) occasion arises. The service is Amazing but the food is not so great it tastes burn when they bought out the steak

I had the lychee martini which was just the right amount of sweetness and lychee flavor. Then we shared the empanadas. I enjoyed the ham and cheese one the most then chicken and corn and cheese. My fiancé had the beef and ranked it: ham and cheese, corn and cheese, beef, then chicken. He also had the vamos à la playa cocktail which he enjoyed. It was strong, so one was enough. The bread they brought out was warm and good, a little salty. They did a steak presentation, which was cool. Didn't end up getting those steaks but nice presentation. Fiancé ordered the mixed grill, cooked to medium. Everything had good flavor and cooked well, except pork chop. Pork chop was a little over cooked for his liking; however, it was still really tasty. Looking back would probably ask the pork to be cooked medium rare but would definitely get the meal again. Plenty of food left over. Garlic mashed potatoes were really garlic-y but tasted well. I had the Chilean sea bass which was cooked well. I'm not a fan of capers but the beurre blanc sauce was nice regardless. Then I had the sweet potato fries which were a little too sweet with the brown sugar tossed on them. I wouldn't get again but liked the portion size for the price. Finally, we were celebrating my fiancé's birthday, so they brought out a huge complimentary birthday cake. They sliced the top off to feed us then boxed up the rest. It's easily the biggest portion we've ever received for a birthday celebration dessert at a restaurant. The cake part was good. Fiancé didn't care for the icing, said it tasted like ice cream, which he doesn't like, but I enjoyed it. Just too big to finish but liked that we have cake to eat on for days. read more

Super disappointed with my experience tonight. I sat at the bar and was offended by the bartenders who were calling me and other people honey, sweetie,love , dear etc. it was completely out of line. I also ordered my steak medium, which I was told was a slight pink and it was pretty rare. When I asked to send it back to be cooked further, I was questioned several times. From the outside it's just another steakhouse or restaurant. Inside it's a whole different story. Upon entering you are met with large sign dictating what is acceptable to be wearing to enter. Once inside you are greeted by the hostess who will coat check your extra layers and check you in if you have a reservation. The bar is fully stocked with a lot of whiskey and many worldly beers or IPAs. Dining room is large and shaped as a roundish room with booths and tables. Staff are plenty and super friendly. If you never been they will bring you out a big ass tray of raw meats for which to choose or to show you a special off menu cut. The sides are all $12 bucks nd served family style (sharable). They start you, as most steak houses do, with homemade bread buns in a skillet. These are buttered with a finishing sea salt on top. Simply craveable. They also come with a small tray of butter, a green pesto or chimichuri as well as a tomato sauce. Prices are reasonable for a high end steak house, but not cheap. I had an 8 oz center cut filet I requested medium (pink center). I got it more medium well, but I didn't send it back...I was hungry. I was expecting this to melt in my mouth, but it did not. It was tender just not as expected. The three British gents I was with all had a rib-eye and finished plus half a potato as big as my head. The final touch was the walking away gift of a fresh backed muffin to be eaten as a breakfast treat. I've been dining at Pampas for over 20 years, which is why this experience--and the way it was handled afterward--was so disappointing. I took my mother and daughter to Pampas to celebrate my mom's 85th birthday. I requested a nice table and mentioned it was a special occasion. We were welcomed with a card on the table, and the waiter asked if we were celebrating something, so expectations were set appropriately. Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly. My daughter ordered a filet medium, and it arrived raw inside. Not rare--raw. Our waiter never checked on us, and I had to flag him down. By then, my daughter had already cut deep into the steak trying to eat it. The waiter offered to take it back and "finish cooking it," which is not acceptable once a filet has been cut that far. I requested a new steak, which is reasonable. From that point on, the waiter's attitude noticeably changed. By the time the replacement steak finally arrived, my mother and I had already finished our meals. My daughter ended up eating her steak alone with cold sides. When you spend $350 for three people, you expect to dine together--especially on a milestone birthday. I requested a call from a manager. Two days later, Thomas Wilson, VP of Operations, reached out. I explained what happened in detail. His response was essentially, "Clearly we have some work to do on our end." His proposed resolution was for me to come back another night and he would "send out some appetizers." So, to be clear: after a ruined birthday dinner, the solution was for me to return and spend more money in exchange for a few free apps. For a restaurant of Pampas' reputation and price point--and for a loyal customer of two decades--this level of service, recovery, and management response was unacceptable. It was difficult to have any conversations because staff kept interrupting. The specials were explained for what seemed like 5 minutes straight. A great experience!!! I was here for a work dinner/speaker event in August. The accommodations - there was a private dining room that had a projector and screen for the speaker and presentation, however, it still felt like an elegant diningroom with a corner bar for service and 4 private restrooms - individual bathrooms. It seemed very exclusive and upscale. Fancier than I'm used to LOL The staff was amazing. They were so professional, friendly but not intrusive. There were present if needed, but didn't get in the way nor distract. The only "distraction" for me, was because I was so impressed at the level of professionalism and coordination in the service. Amazing. The tables were set neatly and uniformly, with plenty of room for the salad and bread plates, the water glasses and other beverage glasses and the information pamphlets we put out for the work portion of the evening. The sound system was decent as well and projector and screen were decent quality for quick presentations. The staff assisting with the technology were great and prompt as well. Now for the food. The bread was delicious. They had butter as a topping option and ALSO had pesto and a bruschetta type of tomato topping. I usually only see butter or oil. This was great. The salads were fine. Pretty standard, but very fresh ingredients and perfectly plated. The entree I chose was the salmon and it was excellent!!! Cooked as I requested, well done and still juicy with the wonderful crisp edges (not burnt). The beans were fine and the mashed potatoes were decadent. The dessert!!! OMG the dessert - cheesecake flan!!! Stop it with the deliciousness. i was full, but pushed myself to finish this dessert as I'm not sure if I'll ever be back to this area. We ordered so many items, I don't remember them all. I do recall my dover sole entree and sides of potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. We brought our own red wine, and also ordered espresso martini... twice because it was very good. For dessert, we ordered bananas foster, which came with a show! The food was excellent from start to finish. My fish was cooked perfectly. No complaints. I didn't try any of the meats, so I can't speak for those. Service was wonderful. We dined here on a Monday night for a celebration dinner. The restaurant wasn't too packed, but service was good. Towards the beginning of the dinner it seemed as if we were being rushed to order but after the food came, the constant checking back stopped. We ordered the tuna tartare for an appetizer & it was seasoned really well. The complimentary bread was also great. The sauces to accompany them were nice. I ordered the Chilean sea bass with the sauce on the side. The sea bass was cooked well but a little bland on the seasoning. My husband ordered the surf & turf and said the same about the fish. His steak was cooked well but the seasoning could have been better. We got creamed corn & potatoes as our sides. Both were good. They gave us a massive piece of chocolate cake for our celebration that we couldn't finish. We took a little bite & then packaged the rest, but it was great. After coming here to celebrate special occasions for nearly twenty years, I'm done with Pampas. We've had our ups and downs over the years, but last night was the last straw. A group of six of us went to our favorite local steakhouse to celebrate my mother's life; we'd been there with her several times and always brought our own wine. Apparently, a recent change in corporate policy has disallowed the opening of large format bottles unless they're purchased from the restaurant. Apparently, the two bottles of wine you're allowed to bring to dinner can't be in one container; it actually has to be two separate bottles. After arguing with the GM that we'd brought our own magnums previously, and discovering that none of the managers I used to know were still employed there, I gave up. Honestly, it's my fault for not reading the attachment their wine director sent prior to us arriving, but the net result ruined the mood, and our meal. Still doesn't make any sense to limit the container size; I would have paid a higher price to open it. After sifting through their wine list, we finally found a decent bottle at a reasonable price that wasn't out of stock. This took several trips to the bar; we seriously almost left. At this point, we've been seated for 45 minutes and they still hadn't taken our order. They finally brought out soup and appetizers, but no salads. When the salads arrived, they weren't right. When my medium steak arrived, it was rare. Everything they did last night had something wrong with it, including starting off on the wrong foot with the wine policy. Wait; they did bring us a free dessert tray, which we consumed and I thanked them for. But, it was too little, too late. There are plenty of other restaurants where I can get $100 steaks that don't care what format my wine comes in. read more

Pampas, oh my have you have fallen in disgrace. This once amazing gem of a restaurant can no longer provide its diners with a steak that even rivals Longhorn. Pros: - the bartenders and drinks are as good or better than any in the Alpharetta area. Bar service is excellent! - the side dishes are delicious. Cons: the steaks are inedible. They are subpar cuts of meat, under seasoned, with no sear. We were provided a side of butter to compensate for the lack of quality of the meat. I'm without words to describe how bad the steak was. Seabass - the highlight of their dishes which I have always loved. It was undercooked and swimming in sauce. Such a disappointing difference from what once was the best seabass dish in all of north Fulton. - Management - we brought the issues to the attention of management, who responded with indifference. It was evident that they knew their chef and kitchen staff were no longer qualified to provide a quality meal to their customers. We spend $350 for two people on our meal tonight. While I wasn't wowed by the food at Pampas, I want to first give a huge shoutout to one of the best servers we've had- Ashley! Loved her service and the steak walk through. Moving on...Pampas is an old-fashioned, white-cloth restaurant. The customers are on the (much) older side and the food was pricey and just okay. While service was amazing, the food left more to be desired. - Tomato soup (1/5): sour, spicy, and not creamy. Big pass. - Ribeye cap (2/5): good flavor, but way too tough with not enough fat. I ordered this medium but it came out close to raw. - Filet (1/5): this was ordered medium but came out completely raw with no flavor. - Lobster mac (5/5): great! - Lyonaisse potatoes (4/5): delicious! - Mashed potatoes (2/5): it's strange being disappointed by mashed potatoes, but they came out almost rubbery. - Chocolate cake (5/5): the star of the night. If you love chocolate, definitely get this. A delicious, rich, fudge layered between moist chocolate cake. A must order. read more

After driving by for years, decided to give it a go. We were promptly seated and then sat for a good 5 minutes without a drink menu: when we were approached, service was friendly and provided the menu, but wasn't knowledgeable about any of the wine. Referred us to someone else, who referred us to someone else. 15 minutes after being seated we were able to order our drinks. All this to say, service was clunky and remained that way through the evening. Dinner was decent - had a watercress salad that was overdressed (for me) and had nut bark versus candied nuts on it making it difficult to eat. My filet was done perfectly and was delicious, husbands NYStrip was good in flavor though slightly tough. He loved the lobster mac because it was 'juicy', but I prefer it to be more creamy & thought lobster was dry. Brussels were good though the bottom of the bowl had a lot of sweet & sour type of sauce. Large space and vibrant environment with full tables of families and date night couples. It was a good meal and something to try, but there are a lot of options for steak on the area as well. read more

Whew chile, where do I begin?!?! I came here by sheer coincidence. I had reservations at another restaurant that had to be cancelled and this place was next on my list. Initially I did not have a reservation so we were told to sit at a high top, "just choose one" is what we were told. We weren't led there and not even given in a menu. We were told it would be almost an hour for a regular table. First red flag. So while seated I opened up OpenTable and saw there was a reservation available within ten minutes. So I booked a reservation while sitting at a high top. They refused to sit us until exactly 7:15, even though the table was empty and it was roughly 7:10. Truth be told, we drove so far that I was determined to see this through. The whole vibe was nice, a live singer brought a certain classy ambiance. Finally got a table and things started looking up. Our waiters were great, very knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered the Pampas Tower, lobster bisque and I had the surf and turf (Chilean sea bass and filet mignon). The food was excellent, I won't lie. Service was great. But when I saw the final bill- I damn near passed out. We waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted once we sat at our table and before being offered water. We had to ask for bread. It took 45 minutes to get our entree after we ordered it. One of my favorite steak houses! Husband and I love the cowgirl steak! It's not on the menu but if you ask, they will tell you about it!

Well, this place is never and I mean never happening again. My husband and I were incredibly disappointed at the level of incompetence for what is advertised as a fine dining experience. This was NOT fine dining by any means. Food, mediocre. My filet was fine, but my husband was served the WRONG cut of beef. There is a HUGE difference between strip and ribeye. How do you get that wrong?! Not to mention, it wasn't that great. Kinda tough actually. We didn't want to make a stink about it. Maybe the experience of just enjoying each other's company and having drinks flowing and a dessert would be better... that was the hope anyway. Nope. Sadly, the service was disappointing too. It's Saturday night and the bar only was extremely short staffed with NO sense of urgency. While waiting for our table we waited to get served at the bar and well, a solid 10 minutes later, we were finally able to put our order in, only right after, our table was ready. Again, just tried to go with it. I overheard our server saying she had been at the restaurant for a year. I thought she was new because her service and level of attention was awful and it was truly her attitude. There was no heart of service or hospitality. We sat down at the table and where my husband chose to sit did not have a setting. It took the bread guy to notice and move the setting. Our drinks were empty and sitting for a while before she asked if we wanted another round. Just rocks at the bottom of our glasses. Then when the food came out, they had no idea who was getting what and we (yes, the customer) had to rearrange the whole table to accommodate. Then, in the middle of our meal, our utensils still on either side of our plates, in positions of use, we were asked if we were finished and wanted things boxed up. NO! We were simply pausing to enjoy conversation! The price of fine dining is in exchange for the level of service and experience at the facility. The servers and other attendants were obviously not trained on proper dining etiquette and utensil signals used to communicate where a diner is at during their meal. Would you know what to do if our napkins were placed on the table or chair if I had to excuse myself from the table? Would you have cleared my plate? Or has Pampas become just ordinary? Are you just one step up from Longhorns now? Only difference being dress-code? To top the whole evening off, in attempt to celebrate our special occasion, they brought out a Costco sized slice on confetti cake! Nothing elegant about it. Just gluttony. As soon as we saw it coming towards us, we sent it away. It was a clown cake. Then, we thought maybe a nightcap and desert be would be offered. Not at all. We sat there for what felt like an eternity for someone to offer us anything. Finally, a different server noticed we were looking around for anyone. It was awful. They couldn't find our server. I DID NOT EAT HERE! I was turned off by a rude valet. First let me start off my saying, people meet the valet before they enter the restaurant. If you hire someone rude, they are going to repel customers. I was driving up to the restaurant for lunch and checking my phone to see if my friends were on the way. I was immediately confronted with a "you can't play Pokemon here!" I was not playing any phone games. It was an immediate stereotype. I've been coming to Pampas for years now. Not too many people know about it but as o tell them, they are missing out on a gem of a steakhouse. We went for my birthday and must admit it was a pleasure once again. Cork fee is $35 as I like to bring my own bottles. Oysters were great, the double cut filet was outstanding and super tasty. We used to come on Wednesday's and sit at the bar as they have half off bottle wines up to $150 (I think). Good spot in Alpharetta so if you're up this way check it out. read more

Excellent service from the Pampas staff. Our servers Gustavo and Geizi were on point and on timing when it came down to our experience at the restaurant. In addition to the service, the ambience and food was the icing on the cake but can forget the most important part which is the cake itself, in this case Gustavo and Geizi. read more

This was my first time to this restaurant, and I was impressed by the ambience. I had to send my steak back on three different occasions because it was undercooked. On the third time, I was accused of lying from the manager (Brian). He's a horrible manager and liar. There is also a concern for cross-contamination of food. Too many things to list here, if upper management would like to discuss, I'd be happy to do so because I sure hope to God this experience does not happen to anyone else. read more

I had high expectations based on reviews and recommendations from friends but my experience was disappointing. Service was extremely slow, we were seated at 7 and weren't served complementary bread until an hour later. It took another half hour when we asked for more. I ordered a wine bottle and the server came back with a different bottle that was double the price and explained they didn't have the one I ordered. When asked what they had, instead of explaining she just tossed the wine menu at me and told me to pick. She also didn't pour the wine evenly, some of us were poured once while others twice. I'd suggest just pouring the wine bottle yourself. Also, most of our meats were cooked improperly. Some asked for medium others medium rare but we all got very rare pieces of meat. At that point it had taken so long to get served food we decided to just eat what we got. Servers need more training especially on the wine. Also, "still water" is bottled water which I've never heard of before and they charge $12/bottle. We had no clue and were charged for two bottles of water. I've heard "still water" used interchangeably as tap water before and have also been to other steakhouses that never charged for water so I was taken by surprise when I got the bill. We ended up leaving after three hours because of the slow service. Very underwhelming for a nice "upscale" dinner this was not worth the price. read more
