The middle school math teacher is excellent. The language arts teacher is awful. This school lacks true Catholic doctrine and allows non-Catholic students to take the host. Fights, suspensions. Basically a Jekyll and Hyde of sorts in that my constant criticism was a waste of talent. Some things I remember was the sports programs of track, basketball, flag football (co-ed). A lot of firsts happened for me here. Most of which I can't publicly talk about (legally), but it was a good school because of the teachers. They cared more about me that I did. I remember eating a lot of pizza and cornuts while I was here. Puberty is rough for everyone too, so being the last full middle school class was nice(top of the class in elementary to middle of the road in middle school), unlike the class below us who went form a year from the top to being bottom rung the next year, never being the kings of the castle until final year in HS. I actually liked the aging campus because it had a full track, sort of sparwling with various levels instead of the track home flatness I'd been used to. It felt like college for a 12 year old. Anyhow I had great times, great memories and I learned a lot from here. I recommend going here from 1995-1997, probably way better than now.

Despite advertising a structured, supervised boarding environment that "understands boys," the reality was very different. Our son was frequently left unsupervised in his room during meal times with no one ensuring he ate -- he survived on vending machine candy. Phone policies that were promised to us were never enforced, with our son on his phone unsupervised until 1AM. He was assigned to the football team but repeatedly missed practices with no follow-up from staff. Most seriously, when our son ran away from campus, the school failed to notify us as his parents. We discovered this ourselves through his phone's location service and had to report it to the school. When we brought him back, staff gave us 5 minutes to collect his belongings and directed us to take him home. My wife had flown in specifically to return him to school. Despite paying for a full year, we have been denied a fair prorated refund for the months he did not attend. We have since filed complaints with the San Diego District Attorney's Student Safety Task Force and the California Attorney General's Office. We trusted this institution with our son's safety and wellbeing. That trust was not honored.

The Principal and Vice Principal, the front office staff, the school nurse, and all the teachers ; they constantly try ( and succeed) at finding the best ways to communicate, and be approachable for the parents and students. There are policies and practices for keeping the students safe and accountable. The learning goals are set and worked towards daily. And everyone smiles and is genuinely friendly, so I don't think that'd be possible constantly unless it was a healthy environment. I'm very grateful for the time my son spends there.

Security staff are rude and angry. This is the second time I've had someone be condescending or…read moreshouting when I politely and calmly pick up my kid from school. My daughter has crutches and I parked my car by the front office curb to help her. A lady in a hat came over and told me I can't park there, despite there being a row of cars parked right behind me. She said "you can't block the ramp" to which I replied what ramp? There was none, just the same curb everyone was parked at. She told me just move, and pointed to parking spaces on the opposite side of the parking lot. I explained I'm helping my daughter who's injured and will just take a couple minutes. She said park over there and move when she's out. Another security person said "oh yeah, she's like that" when I mentioned the encounter. The other employee was a man who yelled at me when trying to leave the large south parking lot. I merely followed the people in front of me and he started yelling at me "what the hell are you doing!!?" I asked him what's wrong, I'm just following the flow of traffic, sorry I'm just picking up my kid. He apologized, seeming to realize he overreacted. Apparently they want you to circle all the way around the entire parking lot even if no other cars are there. I understand, at least this time he explained it was just an unusual policy, not my fault. Can't wait for my daughter to graduate, I went to Carlsbad high school and this place sounds like a nightmare in comparison. The math teacher and others are troubled individuals with egos and power trips, untouchable due to tenure, what I hear from other parent and students. Only people who were polite were the front office staff, they had better social skills. Hopefully someone speaks to the parking staff.

My child was severely physically, mentally & verbally bullied at this school in KINDERGARTEN. A few…read moreexamples: his teacher at circle time (everyone sitting down) made my son stand up and reprimanded him for something he did in line outside before coming in. I personally witnessed him physically pushed to the ground and punched by a group of kids, the yard teacher said " what did you do to make them hurt you?". He came home with scratches so bad on his body that he thought he had a sunburn. I told the principal and there was no action, only offered a school councilor "three times a week" for my KINDERGARTNER. This is just the tip of the iceberg for how incredibly awful this school, its leadership & the faculty were. I moved him schools & he has been doing amazing ever since. DO NOT put your child in this school. I don't have enough words to express on here how much of a genuine nightmare it was, and this experience set my son up to hate & resent school, created a deep sense of self hatred & self consciousness that has stuck with him. BEWARE, this is not a no-tolerance or safe space for children to learn in.
