He was so confident and self assured...and Mr.Ruth was likely one of the best Sped teachers he had besides Mrs. Mini, who we were sad to lose after so many years of great experiences in her class. This school is so much more than just a school. They bring all students and families in and make a real "home" for them - a secondary area where they can feel accepted and supported just as they are. Miss Mayanna in the Health Office was one of Hunter's favorite people, and he talks about her, all of the office staff and the principal, Dieter Swank, constantly. He misses being there, but now he's in a charter school that is k-8, and looks very similar to the uniforms Ivey Ranch wore. It's been a much easier transition there, he only lasted a little less than a month in the Middle School, and he's really flourishing in the full inclusion of the charter school he is in now. He's learning Mandarin there, and does homework without complaint...it's been a metamorphosis that wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the collaborative efforts off all staff involved. I am excited and sad that we had to leave, but Ivery was six of the best years of Hunter's life, and every time we drive by, we talk about how many awesome Memories he had there, and how he loves his new charter school where he's got a 1:1 Aide and fully supported, he is also really doing well in this new setting...and I owe that much to the foundation that was laid in such a positive manner by the staff and volunteers at Ivey Ranch...I wish my oldest would have had such a fantastic place to attend his elementary school year. Ivey Ranch gave him the platform and foundation, and his new charter school is giving him a opportunity to tap into that so he can make his future better and brighter for himself. He's already grown so much, and parents...if you're sending your kiddo to Ivey and might have some concerns - the principal is amazing, and the staff in the front are always happy to be of help. We love Ivey...and it's going to be with us forever, as it helped shape who put responsible young man would become. I can't wait to see what fantastic alumni come from that school, and look back as fondly as our family often does on 6 long and prosperous years at Ivey. We miss you already, but we are so glad you continue to shape and guide the minds of these Young individuals...you're a very special School, with some very outstanding personnel who deserve to know how much they all meant to one little boy who is now an emerging young man...and he is proud of everything he is, is always responsible, for his actions. My child was severely physically, mentally & verbally bullied at this school in KINDERGARTEN. A few…read moreexamples: his teacher at circle time (everyone sitting down) made my son stand up and reprimanded him for something he did in line outside before coming in. I personally witnessed him physically pushed to the ground and punched by a group of kids, the yard teacher said " what did you do to make them hurt you?". He came home with scratches so bad on his body that he thought he had a sunburn. I told the principal and there was no action, only offered a school councilor "three times a week" for my KINDERGARTNER. This is just the tip of the iceberg for how incredibly awful this school, its leadership & the faculty were. I moved him schools & he has been doing amazing ever since. DO NOT put your child in this school. I don't have enough words to express on here how much of a genuine nightmare it was, and this experience set my son up to hate & resent school, created a deep sense of self hatred & self consciousness that has stuck with him. BEWARE, this is not a no-tolerance or safe space for children to learn in.

The school culture has suffered. The kids still get more art here than at most public schools, but it's around the same amount of arts one should expect at a well funded public school (which are sadly few and far between these days) and the arts rotate rather than having every art every week. Still a great school, and they have continued to prioritize the IB Program, so their curriculum is rock solid. The teachers are excellent and the admin is accessible, the campus is spacious and cheerful, and everyone is doing their best. I hope the district realizes that funding the arts is an important priority, for myriad reasons. Every kid needs to have fluency and experience with the arts, just as they do with math and reading; I wish our education funding reflected that. Bottom line, still a great school; I'm still happy to be a part of it - it's not perfect, but it's still the best school in town for sure, and a unique and excellent mix of the arts and IB.

Also take what is written her as a long forgetten memory, beyond the statute of limitations. Don't worry most of the staff from back then are dead of retired. I was a terror to this school and it's faculty. Not only was a honor student, athlete and musician, but unlike the rest of those geeks I would ditch, do drugs, mouth off, not necessarily vandalize persay, but deface things and yeah just terrorize people. Fights, suspensions. Basically a Jekyll and Hyde of sorts in that my constant criticism was a waste of talent. Some things I remember was the sports programs of track, basketball, flag football (co-ed). A lot of firsts happened for me here. Most of which I can't publicly talk about (legally), but it was a good school because of the teachers. They cared more about me that I did. I remember eating a lot of pizza and cornuts while I was here. Puberty is rough for everyone too, so being the last full middle school class was nice(top of the class in elementary to middle of the road in middle school), unlike the class below us who went form a year from the top to being bottom rung the next year, never being the kings of the castle until final year in HS. I actually liked the aging campus because it had a full track, sort of sparwling with various levels instead of the track home flatness I'd been used to. It felt like college for a 12 year old. Anyhow I had great times, great memories and I learned a lot from here. I recommend going here from 1995-1997, probably way better than now.
