The 3rd - 5th grades teach nothing, contain no rigor, have no Catholic teaching, lack classroom management, and the teachers are not credentialed (as indicated). The curriculum is a bunch of supplemental material & the administrator follows common core instead of classical curriculum, which most Catholic schools adhere to in order to set them apart from public school. The middle school math teacher is excellent. The language arts teacher is awful. This school lacks true Catholic doctrine and allows non-Catholic students to take the host. A true disappointment to the San Diego dioceses of schools.

A few…read moreexamples: his teacher at circle time (everyone sitting down) made my son stand up and reprimanded him for something he did in line outside before coming in. I personally witnessed him physically pushed to the ground and punched by a group of kids, the yard teacher said " what did you do to make them hurt you?". He came home with scratches so bad on his body that he thought he had a sunburn. I told the principal and there was no action, only offered a school councilor "three times a week" for my KINDERGARTNER. This is just the tip of the iceberg for how incredibly awful this school, its leadership & the faculty were. I moved him schools & he has been doing amazing ever since. DO NOT put your child in this school. I don't have enough words to express on here how much of a genuine nightmare it was, and this experience set my son up to hate & resent school, created a deep sense of self hatred & self consciousness that has stuck with him. BEWARE, this is not a no-tolerance or safe space for children to learn in.

But the registration process is disorganized and frustrating. Further, only having half-day kindergarten is really frustrating when you only find out the Friday before school starts that your kid is in the PM class. And to add salt to that wound, the PM kids have to come to class on Wednesdays at 8:15. This makes it really difficult to set a schedule for your child and only the kids put into the PM class are affected by this. I feel like this certainly will have *some* impact on academics.

The Principal and Vice Principal, the front office staff, the school nurse, and all the teachers ; they constantly try ( and succeed) at finding the best ways to communicate, and be approachable for the parents and students. There are policies and practices for keeping the students safe and accountable. The learning goals are set and worked towards daily. And everyone smiles and is genuinely friendly, so I don't think that'd be possible constantly unless it was a healthy environment. I'm very grateful for the time my son spends there.

She apologized for others lame communication and lack of work, and went above and beyond to make sure I left with everything I needed! The principal Mr. Carasko is hands on and is one of the few principals that parents have encountered that uses precise and understanding communication tools. It feels like family: from drop off to extended care (which is super reliable & affordable). Teachers each have their own personalities, some are super warm, while others are stricter - but they all really try to help every kid. During our 6 years here, we have not experienced any bullying. Actually, every day kids are specifically taught to be kind and supportive to each other, and teachers and the principal get involved (very involved) with any behavior issues immediately. The bad reviews are from a few families that were likely not a good fit from the beginning, even though the school did everything to make them welcome. Over the last few years, the school has grown tremendously, and one thing we'd recommend is that they screen & educate incoming families a bit better.

My boys have been through a lot and they have provided them (and all others) with a loving, caring, and supportive environment. The principal is amazing! At most schools you hardly see the principal if at all but not here. I see him daily. He is a constant throughout the school constantly moving and involved in all aspects and activities instead of just hanging out in his office. The office staff is always helpful, warm, and welcoming and they show a genuine care and concern for all the kids (and parents) and their well being. The teachers are amazing and put a massive amount of effort into each child and their individual learning needs. I have a child with severe ADHD who has struggled in school ever since he started and his teacher Mrs. Cress has some how managed to find a way with him to where now, not only is he actually completing work but completing it correctly and retaining what she is teaching. He is actually excited to go to school and even do homework (weird lol) for the first time ever! The after school program is amazing and the staff there is equally as caring and invested as everyone else in the school! I am so grateful my boys wound up here!!

Ultimately, we were referred to Carlsbad Country Day School by an acquaintance--and we are so grateful we followed that recommendation. From the moment we toured the school, we were impressed. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, the campus is clean and beautiful, and the overall atmosphere is calm, joyful, and thoughtfully run. The curriculum is fantastic--our kids enjoy yoga, sports, reading class, and so much more. The school also provides healthy and delicious meals daily, which has been a huge relief for us as busy parents. Even better? The kids love the food! As for their teachers--Mrs. Gina and Ms. Stephanie are absolutely wonderful. You can tell they truly care about their students and pour so much effort into making each day special. Mrs. Gina creates such a positive and engaging learning environment for our older child, and Ms. Stephanie brings so much warmth, fun, and care to our younger child's classroom. We feel so lucky they have these amazing educators in their lives. Our kids are genuinely excited to go to school each day. One of them won't even say goodbye at drop-off, and at pickup, it's like pulling teeth to get them to leave--honestly, we take that as a great sign! The outdoor space is spacious and full of activities to keep them busy and happy. The school also hosts adorable events throughout the year--like a mother/son dance, a Christmas party, and more--which really make families feel connected. They also offer professional school photos twice a year, and the sibling pictures are to die for--some of the cutest we've ever had taken.
