We are so grateful to Big Future Preschool for creating such a warm, fun, and supportive space for our children to grow. Every single teacher has been amazing, striking that perfect balance of nurturing care and encouraging real learning. Our daughter thrived in her classrooms with Ms. Sabrina, Ms. Marlene, and Ms. Kerry. They were consistently kind, patient, and inspiring, helping her gain confidence, make friends, and develop new skills. She is now heading into kindergarten so ready and excited, and that's all thanks to the incredible foundation Big Future has given her. Our son also had a wonderful start in the Tiny Todds program with Ms. Marissa and Ms. Michelle. Their gentle, supportive approach made his first school experience joyful and smooth, and we've seen him blossom under their care. We couldn't have asked for a better preschool experience. The staff truly go above and beyond, and it shows in how much our kids love school. For the past 8 years at least one of my three children was enrolled at BFP. It was an emotional day when we picked up our youngest one on her last day of preschool. I don't have the right words to describe what BFP has meant to our family this past decade. To say that the teachers and staff helped our kids learn and grow just doesn't do it justice. Our two younger ones started in the Toddler class and stayed all the way through Kinder Prep, while our oldest did both the Preschool and Kinder Prep classes. The staff at BFP became family to us and our children. Even after my older kids graduated they would go back for some of the monthly Date Night's that the school offers. My children woke up everyday excited to go to BFP, and usually they'd tell us they weren't ready to go home when we went to pick them up at the end of the day. I can't recommend BFP enough to any families looking for a warm, loving, caring environment for their children to attend preschool. My review is based on our experience over the past 2 1/2 years with two kids (August 2020 - Feb 2023) We really loved this school. I was an advocate from the very beginning and couldn't wait to tell our friends, parents, and neighbors about where my kids went. My kids went here from ages 2-5. COVID definitely presented some challenges (which I personally think the school handled well considering the situation), but it wasn't until recently that they really let us down. CLEANLINESS During COVID-19 the school really stepped it up! But nowadays my kids' lunchbox comes back with the same stentch everyday, so sad to say the level of cleanliness has declined. I also notice the cleaning lady helping out in the classrooms, so not sure what's up there.. TODDLER CLASS (my youngest was 2 in this class) Ms Marlene and Ms Kerry are amazing! My youngest had them both and I could not emphasize how much he thrived at such a young age (especially going from diapers to potty training)! We shared tips/tricks of what we did at home and they helped carry this into his everyday in the classroom which really helped it overall be a success! PRESCHOOL PREP We went through a few teachers in this class and sadly were not impressed with any of them. One was passive aggressive and the more recent ones can't seem to keep track of money we gave them. Not impressed. PRESCHOOL CLASS Ms Lessly and Ms Jennifer were the best! They helped my oldest thrive and we saw it in him everyday. They're extremely patient and attentive. KINDER-PREP The teachers in this class really let us down. Another student cut my sons hair - a tail that he's been growing since he was a baby. When he came home he had a crooked cut and hair in his sweater. I was mortified. When I asked the school about it, no one took accountability. I excepted more, but the teachers failed us. There are 3 teachers in this class... Where we're they? How could they not see it? We're they on their phones? You're probably running through the same list of questions I've ran through a million times in my head. My son told us what happened and has been consistent about it.. But - to make things worse, the hair cutting happened over lunar new year. So not only do I no longer get to scrapbook my sons hair (that he was growing since birth), but they ruined lunar new year for us (for those that don't know, you aren't supposed to cut hair until celebrations are over). ADVICE FOR PARENTS CONSIDERING THIS SCHOOL: Find out what you can about the teachers (their background, how many years teaching, are they in school), and understand what the policy is with teachers being on their phones while working. I've seen SEVERAL teachers on their phones, whether in my kids' class or not. Incident reports should be documented - but we can say my sons hair being cut was not documented... This school went from 5 stars to 1 star in a minute. It was good while it lasted.. read more

I feel very lucky to have the joy and privilege of having both my kids go to Big Future. My son from when he was 3 years old to Kindergarten, and my daughter from when she was 2 to 3 and a half. My daughter would still be going to Big Future, if we did not relocate. Big Future has the warmest teachers and staff you'll find in Carlsbad. They're very easy to talk to, show a lot of care and love to the kids and overall create a very safe, nurturing and heartwarming place. The school is kept very clean. The school has a ton of activities around various events:halloween, christmas, father's day and mother's day to name a few. The teachers and staff really make a tremendous effort to create a community, bring all the families together, and also showcase the kids creativity. They put a lot of love and effort into every event they organize. The school also organizes date nights, which we've made plenty use of. I still remember the first time we dropped our son off at Big Future; he had such a hard time with some of the other schools that we tried out, but he adjusted to Big Future so easily. My daughter the same. We always felt safe with our kids and Big Future, and are incredibly grateful for everything the school and the staff have given both us and our kids. read more

My son and daughter attended BFP. We looked at more than 8 schools and chose BFP and we really do feel like we made the right choice! My son attended up till kindergarten. We feel that the small class size and personal attention really helped him thrive. My daughter attended until jr. preschool and the teachers held her until she was ready to transition to the day. We are moving and we will miss Big Future a lot! We are so grateful to have had a wonderful place to send our kids. We are thankful for all the staff and teachers. They created such a warm, loving place for the kids and created amazing memories for us as a family. They had various events throughout the year so parents could spend time with their little one and meet some of the other parents too. All of the teachers know all the kids by name even the kids who are not in their class. They do a ton of art work and have many educational materials to ensure that kids who preferred learning a particular way do. My Children (5yo and 3yo) LOVE this school and the teachers and staff. My son and daughter both run into the school each morning, and beg to stay longer when I pick them up in the afternoons. All the teachers know my children's names and say hello each morning to them if passing by, even if they are not in that particular teacher's classroom. My son started at the school when he was 2 1/2 and we decided to even keep him at the school for their Kindergarten program because of how highly other parents spoke of it and we are 100% happy of our decision. Curriculum: the schools curriculum is more than just a day care, they teach educational lessons for all the classes; toddlers thu kindergarten. Each month they come out with their monthly news letter which informs parents of the monthly artist, science lessons/ project and monthly curriculum (engineering, weather, human body, geography, nutrition...just to name a few) that will be taught. My son each month ends up teaching me about things he learned that I didn't even know. Every week, my kids come home bringing piles and piles of work they did in class, that i don't have enough space to store it all. Cleanliness: the school takes cleanliness very seriously. They have a dedicated person that makes sure the entire school is cleaned daily and in addition she helps out when needed to keep an eye on the children because she also loves the children and wants to become a teacher too. It is rare that i don't see one of the teachers with a broom or disinfectant in their hands when i am at the school because lets face it kids are messy and with 20 kids in one class, accidents will happen. Lunches are packed daily by the parents. and teachers are not responsible for them or how they smell. Communication: parents and teachers have a app that is used to communicate with each other. The school does not have a dedicated administrative person that is always available to take calls and answer emails, its only the teachers who are juggling multiple tasks. I've never seen any of the teachers just on their phone for pleasure while in the classroom; they do tho, use their phones for either taking pictures of the kids for a school project to hang on the class walls, sending parents a picture of their child thru the app to give them a nice update of what they are doing that day, or answering a question that a parent had. The school has a open door policy so best way in my opinion is to go to the school and talk to the teachers and staff, they are all the sweetest kindest people and want to help in any way they can. Overall, we are thrilled we found this gem of a school. My children have thrived and become happy confident kids and have made so many friends since enrolling. read more

I considered not writing this review. Then I saw fellow Yelper A L.'s review and decided to write mine to show that this was not an isolated incident. After a school tour in June, my husband and I were very much looking forward to enrolling our toddlers. The classrooms were well lit, spacious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The playground was big and clean. We were given an estimate of October enrollment. As our current daycare requires a 30-day notice before leaving, I started to reach out via phone and email to get an update on that October start date. Email appeared to be the best way to contact the school...until it wasn't. To my disappointment, I was told that their sister school was shut down and that they had to enroll some of their students. I was told that it would be a "waiting game" as to when they would have availability for our daughters. Also that email would be the "best" point of contact. Flash forward one month after being told that email is best, I sent two emails one week apart to absolutely NO RESPONSE. We had been pretty lucky in the past with putting our names down for one school. This incident taught me not to put all our eggs in one basket. I was back to my drawing board calling previous schools I had been interested in again. Please look elsewhere if you want consistent communication with school staff. read more

What an amazing school! Our daughter started here about 2 years ago as a shy little PreSchooler, Big Future has helped her become a confident tiny scholar. The teachers are so caring and attentive to each child, our daughter had a hard time at first since it was her first school experience and they were all so patient. We initially looked them up because they have such a flexible pick up and drop off schedule (it was a life saver for us). It's a small school but a big community of parents. We've been at Big Future for over a year now with one kid in preschool and another in kindergarten. Can't say enough good things about the program and the teachers. My kids are excited to go to school each day and are always reluctant to leave at the end of the day. For kinder, Ms. Peña has been fantastic. With the small class size I know my kid gets the attention they need but I can clearly tell the significant progress they have made in reading, writing, science, art and building social skills with their peers since joining the program. We are so happy with our decision to switch our son to Big Future a couple years ago. When our son started he was in preschool, and soon transitioned to kinder-prep. When Covid shut down the schools, we were so happy when Big Future extended their program to have kindergarten. Our son has been doing much better here than his last school and the teachers are so great here. Big Future is an amazing place! I am so thankful places like this exist. My son attended preschool and kindergarten here - both before and during the pandemic. They take safety and security very serious and the love, kindness and patience of the teachers is something from a storybook. We love this school. My son attended from 2.5 until he left for kindergarten and our daughter began at 18 months. She is now 3.5 and thriving. Ms. Kerry and Ms. Marlene are the most loving and caring teachers. She still loves them and they mean a lot to our family. She is now in Junior preschool. Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Melissa are new to the center and let me tell you, they have turned that class around. COVID was rough on this class and, let's face it, 3 year olds are tough (trust me, I live with one ha!) The effort in to the routine has been a game changer for our daughter. She is so independent and LOVES learning. They also do a lot of art, which she enjoys, and she comes home with new fun facts every month. I admire the dedication of ALL the teachers. Classrooms are clean and colorful, displaying the kids work. We also love getting picture updates throughout the month detailing the skills they are working on. Early education as a profession is no easy task. I can confidently say I would not be able to do what they do. They are TEACHERS, not baby-sitters, and great ones at that. read more

Thanks to his time at Big Future Preschool, my nephew learned a tremendous amount both academically as well as socially and is beyond ready for Kindergarten. He learned addition and subtraction within 20, can count to 100+, knows his sight words, and can read simple leveled texts. Each of his teachers (18mo-4 years) was very hands on and attentive to his individual unique needs. I am so happy with his experience and as a teacher myself, I recommend this preschool for everyone wanting a rich academic environment for their little one. Big Future has been a wonderful place for two of our kiddos over the past 5 years. We have experienced all levels/classes starting at 18-months old through Kinder Prep. Long story short: my daughter is going to Kindergarten at age 5 reading books (full short chapter books)! It is incredible. What is more important is that she's had fun time there not just learning, but playing, being a kid, forming friendships and learning social skills in a fun, gentle, respectful environment. The school is clean, always adds new activities, experiments, fun days, costume parties and tear-filled graduations. The teachers are always smiling, welcome everyone by name (not sure how they know every kids' and parent's name!!) and always seem to be happy. There hasn't been 1 day when either one of my kids didn't want to go to school. The safety rules and protocols are also very good and reasonable. We've built friendships with other parents and would recommend this school to anyone looking for a fun and safe "home away from home" for their babies! read more

My two children attend Big Future Pre-School and we absolutely love the school. My son is attending the Pre-K class with Ms. Katie and Ms.Holly... He is completely smitten by them both. He has grown leaps and bounds the last year with these two Amazing teachers. He will start kindergarten: reading, knowing his sounds, letters, and how to write short sentences. Our heart Broken that tomorrow is his last day...but will have a forever friendship with these amazing teachers. My daughter is in the 2's and 3's class and adores both Mrs. Tina and Ms. Linda. My son has been going to BFP for 2 1/2 years. I have never once regret my decision to put him in the program. The kinder prep program especially is beyond my expectations. From the teachers to the Admin they are all great. The director Alma is very attentive and always has a answer when ever i have a question. This is the absolute BEST preschool!! My family and I experienced a terrible preschool up the street and I am so glad we decided to enroll our little one into the school. From the moment I stepped into the school, I knew they had a lot to offer. The center is clean, neat, and bright. Each classroom is spacious and filled with the appropriate areas (sensory, dramatic play, tables, circle time, etc). Although a little pricier than most schools in the area, every penny is worth it. My son was very shy, moody, a little crazy, and wasn't the best at socializing! After attending Big Future, he blossomed. He became friendly, outgoing, silly, and overall a happy kid! Linda and Jessica were extremely attentive, caring, and truly cared about the things that I was mostly strict about (healthy eating, naps, and safety). They accommodated every request and did it happily with no hesitation. They respected me as a parent while still setting rules and boundaries regarding how their classroom was ran. I respect them so much for being able to handle the children as well as being respectful to all families and parents. My son now attends a different school due to relocating back to the Bay Area, but I can still see the impact Big Future had on him. He stopped crying during drop off after the first day and has transitioned with confidence at his new school. I still believe I owe this to Big Future and I will never forget them! This school is such an amazing place for many reasons: it is clean, it is an academic program, and the students are always safe and happy. We have been coming here for awhile and it is overdue to write an awesome review. My daughter changed schools 4 times by the time she was two, we tried Montessori to religious schools to "special" chapter schools and something always seemed to go wrong or be uncomfortable. Enough to always pull her out. I'm SO happy to say that we have found our place here at Big Future for almost the past 3 years!!!! It's good to finally find consistency and the teachers are amazing and truly care for the kids and are involved. My kid has been with Big Future in San Marcos and now in Carlsbad location for about 2 years. The play area is huge, they have upgraded many things at this school classroom, play areas, teachers etc.. The staff are very friendly and they rates are reasonable. My daughter has been going to this school for about 2 years now and we absolutely love it. We came from the San Marcos location then switched as it was closer for us. Both school is great! All of the teachers at this school are all very helpful, attentive and cares so much for your child. My daughter's teacher Ms. Katie is amazing, we absolutely love her. She's very sweet, her room is always well organized and a great teacher. Ms. Heather the head director always has a smile in her face and always so helpful and a sweetheart. The owner Scott has a big heart and you can just tell how much growing and learning is very important to him and how this school is a priority. I'm so glad that my daughter goes here. We love love this school. My niece was in another school prior to coming here and we noticed her attitude was horrible. She was so bossy and learning new mean words. We took her out and started her here, she has been so much happier and learning cute new songs! Heather, the director is a true GODSEND, she is so patient and always cheerful and holds down that school like a pro (haha, because she is one).
