Let me start with the most important part of the school, the cadets. I often see them in the Village of Carlsbad. Invariably, they are extremely polite and respectful, very articulate and mature for their years. They represent the Academy incredibly well. Please come to one of the Academy's military reviews and you'll see an amazing group of young men working together to achieve a common goal. It is very impressive. I have had the chance to talk with several parents and alumni. The feedback I have received has been exceptional. Every parent shares how much their son has grown in his years at the Academy and the amazing young man he has become. They are so proud. The alumni talk about the brotherhood they built with their classmates and how the school positively prepared them for lives after graduation. The Academy's educators and staff have the top priority to build young men of character and prepare them for the rest of their lives. My interaction with them has always been very positive and professional. The education standards are high and there is an infrastructure to support the cadets for success. They provide leadership opportunities so the cadets learn by doing not through lectures. The growth and development of these young men is their top priority. "Forging Virtuous Young Men for Life" incorporates structure, discipline, physical and mental development, leadership and academics. We enrolled our 15-year-old son at Army and Navy Academy for the 2026-2027 school year and paid…read more$67,075 in full. Our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning on multiple levels. Despite advertising a structured, supervised boarding environment that "understands boys," the reality was very different. Our son was frequently left unsupervised in his room during meal times with no one ensuring he ate -- he survived on vending machine candy. Phone policies that were promised to us were never enforced, with our son on his phone unsupervised until 1AM. He was assigned to the football team but repeatedly missed practices with no follow-up from staff. Most seriously, when our son ran away from campus, the school failed to notify us as his parents. We discovered this ourselves through his phone's location service and had to report it to the school. When we brought him back, staff gave us 5 minutes to collect his belongings and directed us to take him home. My wife had flown in specifically to return him to school. Despite paying for a full year, we have been denied a fair prorated refund for the months he did not attend. We have since filed complaints with the San Diego District Attorney's Student Safety Task Force and the California Attorney General's Office. We trusted this institution with our son's safety and wellbeing. That trust was not honored.

And the principal, Cesar Morales, is a rock star principal who really cares about being fair and making things right. The only hiccups here come from being a new ("startup") school - which meant early on we had some dud teachers and few course options - but those issues are fading away as the school grows. It's an academically challenging school but my student has done well and is prepared for university next year. There are a lot of false rumors out there from people trying to start a rivalry but if you're considering this school I encourage you to take the tour and talk to actual students and parents!

Ultimately, we were referred to Carlsbad Country Day School by an acquaintance--and we are so grateful we followed that recommendation. From the moment we toured the school, we were impressed. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, the campus is clean and beautiful, and the overall atmosphere is calm, joyful, and thoughtfully run. The curriculum is fantastic--our kids enjoy yoga, sports, reading class, and so much more. The school also provides healthy and delicious meals daily, which has been a huge relief for us as busy parents. Even better? The kids love the food! As for their teachers--Mrs. Gina and Ms. Stephanie are absolutely wonderful. You can tell they truly care about their students and pour so much effort into making each day special. Mrs. Gina creates such a positive and engaging learning environment for our older child, and Ms. Stephanie brings so much warmth, fun, and care to our younger child's classroom. We feel so lucky they have these amazing educators in their lives. Our kids are genuinely excited to go to school each day. One of them won't even say goodbye at drop-off, and at pickup, it's like pulling teeth to get them to leave--honestly, we take that as a great sign! The outdoor space is spacious and full of activities to keep them busy and happy. My daughter has crutches and I parked my car by the front office curb to help her. A lady in a hat came over and told me I can't park there, despite there being a row of cars parked right behind me. She said "you can't block the ramp" to which I replied what ramp? There was none, just the same curb everyone was parked at. She told me just move, and pointed to parking spaces on the opposite side of the parking lot. I explained I'm helping my daughter who's injured and will just take a couple minutes. She said park over there and move when she's out. Another security person said "oh yeah, she's like that" when I mentioned the encounter. The other employee was a man who yelled at me when trying to leave the large south parking lot. I merely followed the people in front of me and he started yelling at me "what the hell are you doing!!?" I asked him what's wrong, I'm just following the flow of traffic, sorry I'm just picking up my kid. He apologized, seeming to realize he overreacted. Apparently they want you to circle all the way around the entire parking lot even if no other cars are there. I understand, at least this time he explained it was just an unusual policy, not my fault. Can't wait for my daughter to graduate, I went to Carlsbad high school and this place sounds like a nightmare in comparison. The math teacher and others are troubled individuals with egos and power trips, untouchable due to tenure, what I hear from other parent and students. Only people who were polite were the front office staff, they had better social skills. Hopefully someone speaks to the parking staff.

I have had many bad stories of the locker room. But this is the worst I walk in after hard practice sweaty and smelly. I was not ok with this as my girlfriend likes me smelling like an alpha male (I am one) I walk it to the showers witch are always full of naked men. I walk over to one of the showers in the corner to see two men making out. I throw up in my mouth and spit it out after closing the stall door. I go over to one of the sinks and wash out the room. I go over to the janitors closet and pull out bleach pouring it in my eyes and mouth. I walk back to one of the stalls and open the door. What stood behind that door roped the ungodly sin I had seen just before... A big pile of shit was scatter all around but mostly by the drain. It looked like someone tried shoving it down. I turned to leave. I walked to my locker excepting that I was not going to have a shower. I put on my pants leaving my shirt and began leaving when I saw one of the cheerleaders (they let boys and girls on the team) He was walking In to the locker and headed over to one of the many lockers. I stayed behind to watch him change. He pulled off his shirt I saw his pale frail body. I couldn't pull my eyes off his body. The way his hair laid just above his eyes. I felt myself drawn to him. I walked over to him. I was painful obviously towering over him. He looked at me before looking down at my chest. I grabbed his chin pulling his head up to we were face to face. You look so beautiful. I lend in for a kiss which he reciprocated we locked lips and only pulled away when we were out of breath. I pushed him against the locker and we were hard making out. We stopped after 10 minutes when the bell rang Signaling that school had ended. I invited him to lunch at the nearby habitat and we went. I ditched my girlfriend and broke up with her over text that night. Me and my boyfriend have been together for 3 months and love each other a lot.

This high school is an amazing and still semi-new school!…read more LCC has a wonderful staff of nice and friendly administration and teachers that are there to all help the students. All of the students here at this school all graduate, and continue to go onto such wonderful colleges all around the country. Their theater department is large and has a great indoor theater. This high school also has a outdoor amphitheater for those great summer nights. This school offers languages such as Japanese, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language. Also, they have a great dance, photography, and computer graphics area.

I was a terror to this school and it's faculty. Not only was a honor student, athlete and musician, but unlike the rest of those geeks I would ditch, do drugs, mouth off, not necessarily vandalize persay, but deface things and yeah just terrorize people. Fights, suspensions. Basically a Jekyll and Hyde of sorts in that my constant criticism was a waste of talent. Some things I remember was the sports programs of track, basketball, flag football (co-ed). A lot of firsts happened for me here. Most of which I can't publicly talk about (legally), but it was a good school because of the teachers. They cared more about me that I did. I remember eating a lot of pizza and cornuts while I was here. Puberty is rough for everyone too, so being the last full middle school class was nice(top of the class in elementary to middle of the road in middle school), unlike the class below us who went form a year from the top to being bottom rung the next year, never being the kings of the castle until final year in HS. I actually liked the aging campus because it had a full track, sort of sparwling with various levels instead of the track home flatness I'd been used to. It felt like college for a 12 year old. Anyhow I had great times, great memories and I learned a lot from here. I recommend going here from 1995-1997, probably way better than now.

It's a good school nice teacher's but a lot of fights happen at this school I see a lot of bullying…read morea lot of cursing and some teacher's don't even say to stop saying that profanity and a lot of bullying at lunch a lot of people gang up on a person or they make a big circle around the fight and cheer on and they don't even get suspended even if the same people that fight they get in school detention like last time they were like four fights at lunch people getting hurt like pulling on each other's hair girls and boys fighting punching kicking cussing fighting in the bathroom always ganging up on other people all is bullying so many fights that it gets scary and some kids sometimes don't even want to go to school because it's scary and dangerous.
