It feels like family: from drop off to extended care (which is super reliable & affordable). Teachers each have their own personalities, some are super warm, while others are stricter - but they all really try to help every kid. During our 6 years here, we have not experienced any bullying. Actually, every day kids are specifically taught to be kind and supportive to each other, and teachers and the principal get involved (very involved) with any behavior issues immediately. The bad reviews are from a few families that were likely not a good fit from the beginning, even though the school did everything to make them welcome. Over the last few years, the school has grown tremendously, and one thing we'd recommend is that they screen & educate incoming families a bit better.

I just volunteered, kids didnt go and I didn't try any of the treats but they were so organized and made volunteering a breeze! I got to help with arranging the flower/vases and cupcakes on the snack tables and help with putting the fake flowers on the back drop and handing out fun heart glasses and took all the photos for the first group (all the k-5th families). The families were so appreciative and had so much fun. The staff here really care about the students, both educationally and their well being. My kids love going here. They just don't like to dance but after seeing it I see that there's plenty more to do rather than dance.

Helping students develop strong character to become good stewards of our community has been an integral part of our family's experience. I give this school a massive amount of credit for how my life has turned out. I always felt supported, encouraged, and academically challenged throughout my time at Tri-City. The teachers constantly went above and beyond to invest into the students. Sports wise, when I decided to join the track team, I was supported in a way that made the experience extremely fulfilling and confidence-building. Because of Tri-City's excellent instruction, I was able to get a near-perfect score on the SAT, got accepted into UCLA, and graduated with highest departmental honors. All while staying true to the faith and values that were instilled in me at Tri-City. My sister and I are extremely grateful for the experience we had here, so much so that now the next generation of our family attends the school. While no school is perfect, I truly only have good things to say about Tri-City and I would highly recommend sending your children here if you want them to be grounded, protected, encouraged, and inspired. This is the place.

Teachers like Mrs Bicum, Mrs Cinors Mrs.Lever, Mrs. Theis, and Mrs. Mackey were caring, dedicated, and genuinely invested in helping him succeed. I will always be grateful for the kindness and effort they showed our family. Unfortunately, our experience changed dramatically in 4th grade. My son struggled with reading and had educational needs that required additional support. Instead of receiving the help and encouragement he needed, it felt like the school gave up on him. He went from being a student who earned B and C grades to receiving failing grades, and we saw very little effort to help him maintain the academic progress he had made over the years. During this time, our family was also wrongly accused by a teacher, which resulted in a report being made to CPS. We found this experience deeply upsetting. We were also concerned to learn that the same teacher allegedly shared private information about our family with other parents without our knowledge, which further damaged our trust in the school community. As parents, we were repeatedly made to feel that our son no longer belonged at the school because of his learning challenges and his need for an IEP. Rather than partnering with us to help him succeed, we felt pressured to find another school. The message we received was that Tri-City Christian was not willing or able to support a child who learned differently. If your child is a strong student who does not require academic accommodations and excels in sports, your experience may be very positive. However, if your child struggles with reading, is behind academically, has an IEP, or may need one in the future, I would strongly encourage you to carefully consider whether this school can provide the support your child deserves. What hurt the most was that this happened at a Christian school. By the end of our time there, I felt embarrassed and unwelcome on campus. Every child deserves patience, encouragement, and support--especially when they are struggling. Sadly, that was not our experience during our final years at Tri-City Christian.

Ultimately, we were referred to Carlsbad Country Day School by an acquaintance--and we are so grateful we followed that recommendation. From the moment we toured the school, we were impressed. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, the campus is clean and beautiful, and the overall atmosphere is calm, joyful, and thoughtfully run. The curriculum is fantastic--our kids enjoy yoga, sports, reading class, and so much more. The school also provides healthy and delicious meals daily, which has been a huge relief for us as busy parents. Even better? The kids love the food! As for their teachers--Mrs. Gina and Ms. Stephanie are absolutely wonderful. You can tell they truly care about their students and pour so much effort into making each day special. Mrs. Gina creates such a positive and engaging learning environment for our older child, and Ms. Stephanie brings so much warmth, fun, and care to our younger child's classroom. We feel so lucky they have these amazing educators in their lives. Our kids are genuinely excited to go to school each day. One of them won't even say goodbye at drop-off, and at pickup, it's like pulling teeth to get them to leave--honestly, we take that as a great sign! The outdoor space is spacious and full of activities to keep them busy and happy. The school also hosts adorable events throughout the year--like a mother/son dance, a Christmas party, and more--which really make families feel connected. They also offer professional school photos twice a year, and the sibling pictures are to die for--some of the cutest we've ever had taken. The school planned to send home a note, but places the sticker on students to "make sure (parents) get the message." However, it must be asked whether the school's action can be excused. Is it right to humiliate a child-to expose his family's financial situation-over food? We must ask ourselves what we have become as a nation, when schools are throwing away a child's lunch if he or she does not have the money, and choosing to humiliate children who do not stem from affluence. Any and every school can teach kids what they need to learn but very few can teach kids how to be amazing human beings and every single staff member I have encountered at this school has done so by strong example!! My boys have been through a lot and they have provided them (and all others) with a loving, caring, and supportive environment. The principal is amazing! At most schools you hardly see the principal if at all but not here. I see him daily. He is a constant throughout the school constantly moving and involved in all aspects and activities instead of just hanging out in his office. The office staff is always helpful, warm, and welcoming and they show a genuine care and concern for all the kids (and parents) and their well being. The teachers are amazing and put a massive amount of effort into each child and their individual learning needs. I have a child with severe ADHD who has struggled in school ever since he started and his teacher Mrs. Cress has some how managed to find a way with him to where now, not only is he actually completing work but completing it correctly and retaining what she is teaching. He is actually excited to go to school and even do homework (weird lol) for the first time ever! The after school program is amazing and the staff there is equally as caring and invested as everyone else in the school! I am so grateful my boys wound up here!!
