We had an Italian Stromboli and it was awesome! Simple ingredients, salami, ham, mozzarella, and sauté onions all in a delicious dough. And the marinera sauce was thick. And the portions are huge. One plate enough for two people. The waitress was very good at making sure we were satisfied and attended to. The only draw back is the lack of attention needed to the front of the restaurant. The owners need to make it more welcoming and clean. Otherwise Palermo's has the potential of being a perfect place to eat. I am going back even if its just for takeout. read more

We visited Palermo's for the first time last night. It wasn't bad! We enjoyed our meal. The interior is a little dark but it appeared clean. They had a 96.5 sanitation grade posted behind the register. I was worried because, like everywhere else, they seemed to understaffed. Our server also had to handle take outs, the phone, and bus her own tables in addition to waiting on the entire dining room. She was doing a great job of pulling it off. Our food came out correctly. Everything came out in a timely manner. We never ran out of drinks. She was nice and helpful. We ordered a 10 inch pizza to split. It was enough food for us both. The pizza was good. The crust was good. I also ordered a side salad. It was average but the Bleu Cheese dressing was wonderful! I was glad we stopped in for supper. I want to go back and try a pasta dish now! read more

Food is great, prices are reasonable. The Zorba dish is fantastic. The Stromboli is 1 of my favorites.

We have just recently moved to Albemarle and had eaten here before and liked it. So we went back last night. I love the dish with the chicken and eggplant parm. It's so yummy! I'm not much for red sauces however, I love theirs! It has a great flavor. I was not a fan of the salad dressings ‍ I can get past that though. The inside is dark and needs a face lift, but it's the great food. We are looking forward to getting a pizza next! read more

Just stop by at 1:45 for a late lunch. Got inside and the menu looks really good. Iordered Roma parmigiana which was a pasta with a piece of fried chicken breast and a piece of fried veal. Usually this comes with a tomato sauce as I am allergic to tomatoes I asked if I could have a very very light amount of alfredo sauce over the meat only. Over the pasta a little olive oil with garlic. Both of which is much costly than the tomato sauce. As it comes with salad and I don't eat salad the server said can I give you extra garlic bread. I told her that would be fine. She walked away and in a matter of 3 minutes she was back. She was very apologetic as she stated according to the kitchen, we don't do that. I ask do what. The oil thing & changes. So I paid for my iced tea gave the young lady a nice tip and I am now headed to the PizzAntica. There was one table in the restaurant in which two women were sitting whom had already eaten and were just finishing their drinks. I don't think the kitchen was busy and if they were it couldn't have been with cleaning. My advice would be go here if you like it just as it would be stated on the menu don't ask for anything any different you're not going to get it. read more

STAY AWAY!! From this place. I was really looking forward to having lasagna,but wow was I disappointed. I don't know how they are still in business. This is the worst Italian food (NOT Italian food) I have ever had. I don't even know where to begin it was just meet sauce and mozzarella cheese there were no lasagna noodles in it at all. Of all the Italian dishes this should be one of the cheapest to make the cost with $11.00. It was flat NOT stacked like normal lasagna. Pizza Hut makes better Lasagna and they don't even make it!! My wife and I got it. I forced mine down and she took two bites and didn't eat any more. What a waste of money. This is our second time there and our last. We won't eat here anymore. First time visitor. Recently moved to the area from a large city. We are accustomed to a wide variety of choices and are learning and loving the small town life. Found the place when driving by. We were very pleased with the service and food. I had eggplant parmesan and hubby pasta primavera. It was way too much to eat and we will be getting another meal from it. The eggplant parmesan...The red sauce had a good thickness and mildly sweet. No acid taste. The eggplant had a pleasant taste, not tough. Very large piece. Topped with lots of cheese and sauce. I prefer lighter sauce and cheese, but cheese lovers will swoon. Pasta primavera...mild sauce very similar to vodka sauce. Lots of veggies. Lots of sauce. Again we prefer less sauce. Both meals came with a large salad and garlic bread. We will visit again. Going to try pizza next. read more

We have eaten here from the first year they opened at least once a month. Everything we have ever ordered is fabulous! My husband has family from all over the US. New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Arkansas, California and even Canada. We have taken all of them to Palermo's, and they love it!! They all say it is the best Italian food they have had anywhere, and when they go back home they tell the rest of the family to make sure they go to Palermo's when they visit us. Their red sauce is fantastic. We Love the spaghetti, baked ziti, pizza, calamari, cheese bread appetizer, calzones, strombolies, and especially their philly cheese steak subs. The philly cheese steak subs are out of this world. Sammy is a superb cook, and he works hard to please his customers. The portions are large and the prices are good. Palermo's is the best kept secret in Albemarle. Make sure you don't miss this hidden gem. read more

Excellent Pizza! We were in town for a few days during deputation and passed Palermo's on the way to the store and saw the "NY style pizza" sign. Needing a place to each lunch we decided to give it a shot. Ordered a 16" cheese pizza for the 3 kids and myself. Came out quickly and very delicious. Would definitely recommend the pizza and will stop again if ever in the area. read more

LOVE this place. Appearance isn't great, but the food is. Wonderful salads and extremely good pasta and sandwiches. Best ranch dressing around. Never had anything bad from here, always a great meal. I was bragging to some out-of-town guests how good this place was. Keyword being "was." A simple order of a ham calzone (one of the items listed on the menu, no less) ended up being a dripping, greasy mess of ham, pepperoni, and too much mozz--NO ricotta, even though the menu clearly says, "ricotta." The pepperoni added *way* too much grease. I couldn't finish mine because I started feeling ill. Had I wanted a pepperoni calzone, I would've ordered one. Alas. I retract my earlier review, because these folks apparently do not know the difference between stromboli and calzone. Now I'm afraid to try whatever else they're serving up. Sad to see how much of a slide this place has taken in just a few short months. read more

I ordered a philly cheese steak sub plate with fries today and let me tell you, this sub was absolutely to die for. It was packed with meat, cheese and mushrooms (the way I ordered it), and it was very juicy (But not so juicy to ruin bread). Meat was seasoned very well and overall, Palermos subs deserve checking out. The portions were also very generous. My only complaint is that the fries could use slightly more salt, but that is an easy fix. read more

I've never gotten something from Palermo's that I didn't like. Stromboli's, Calzones, Pizza, Pasta, Philly Cheese Steak's, Salads... I've tried them all. The portions here are YUUUUUUGE too. Food was very pricey, you get a lot but half of what I paid for turned out to be grease. Not worth it

Would love to be able to rate the actual food, but EVERY time we have tried to go here on a weekend evening, I end up furious! They are always complaining about how they are cleaning up so they can close early and we need to hurry up and order. They obviously do not want the business. So sad. read more
