I appreciated the chance to interact with everyone - not just sit around a group table the whole time, struggling to hear everyone! All ages and experience levels could participate - most of our group had never played bocce! * The staff was key to making sure everything went smoothly. Bland and underdeveloped flavors. My husband and I have been to palazzo di boccee many times for private events and have always had a crest time. We decided to stop by for dinner and were underwhelmed. I can appreciate their "build your own" menu set up, but in my opinion it leads to underdeveloped flavors and bland food. I ordered what the waitress called a vodka sauce. It was not great. I had to add lots of salt, pepper, and cheese to make it tasty. You could still taste the acidic almost sour flavor of raw tomatoes and it felt like the cream was just poured in at the end giving it no time to marry. My favorite part of the dish was the crispy bacon. I will say that the up charge for adding bacon was very justified, I got a lot of bacon The service we got was great and the restaurant was very nice as always. It's decorated beautifully with nice hanging foliage and lights. I was surprised however by the number of children running around but it was not a disturbance. I'm in a bit of a conundrum about this review. i want to give it 5 stars because it is a lovely restaurant, plentiful of solid Italian food, terrific service and absolutely fun with Bocce courts surrounding us (which you absolutely have to include in your dining experience). I hope my 4 stars won't dissuade you from going though, it is really worth it. As shared the service from walking in to ordering, eating and playing Bocce ball was outstanding. Very helpful, attentive and just good people. The food, from the starters and the salads (ENORMOUS) were followed by equally more than plentiful shared plates. My one less star isn't because the food was not good; quite opposite, it was really good, but just not the great Italian that I judge such restaurants by. Mind you the chicken piccata was our favorite; the lasagna lacked enough red sauce to make you wonder if it was just a cheese sauce, but again, it was good. By the way, both the salads they brought, a 'garden' salad and a spinach salad were not just plentiful, they were rich with veggies and prepared fresh and perfectly. Of note the homemade balsamic/vinagrette and the lemon dressing for spinach were really good. When I'm back in the area, i would definitely be a repeat customer, but I won't eat the entire day before arriving so I can consume more of the vast portions that they deliver! read more

Came here for a work lunch outing and had a fabulous time! Started with lunch and ordered the meatball sub and started with the calamari appetizer and a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The calamari was perfectly breaded and fried, and the cream of mushroom soup was delicious. The meatball sub was also delicious and very filling! We followed lunch with bocce and our server showed us how to play. You get 80 minutes of court time and it was more fun then I thought it would be. So the ambiance, concept, and service at this restaurant was fantastic! Loved how we can eat and then go play Bocce ball after. Great place to hang out and chill on a Friday night. However, the food did not impress as much. We got the spinach and artichoke dip, bruschetta, and mushroom soup for appetizers. Bruschetta toppings were okay and didn't taste fresh. Mushroom soup was good and quantity was great! Spinach and artichoke dip was a little bland and couldn't appreciate the artichoke taste as much. We then got an assortment of different pasta dishes and pizzas which were, once again, pretty average. Vegetarian options may not have been as impressive which is why I rated this a 3/5 star. We were a large group of 9 on a summer Tuesday night and the place was pretty empty. Good for us but bad for business. Service was efficient & friendly. Overall food was decent, not bad but nothing super special. Bocce was tons of fun with our teenage kids, though a bit in the pricey side. That night it was $13/person for 80 minutes. The calamari appetizer was fresh & tender, lightly breaded and not overly fried, but a bit lackluster with just marinara for dipping, an aioli would elevate this app easily. The Eggplant Tosca was lightly breaded & fried and very good. The spinach artichoke dip had great flavor, chips were light & crispy. Pasta Carbonara, Capellini with Bolognese, and Chicken Parmigiana were nothing special. I've driven past Palazzo di Bocce quite a few times but never been in until a group I'm with had their holiday party here. It was pre-arranged for a buffet including antipasto, warm Italian bread, salads, pasta including spaghetti & meatballs and Alfredo, olives, cheeses, cannolis, and soft drinks. Somehow I neglected to take a photo of the Cannoli, but trust me, it was delicious! For the group party it also included an opportunity to play Bocci, which I had never played before. It was a great way for us to learn the rules and to play to see if we had any natural talent for the game; we just barely won over another couple who also had not played before. Our overall assessment is that the food was very good, the staff were all friendly and attentive with respect to keeping our drinks filled, and quickly clearing our dishes. Another wonderful dinner and this time with friends who had never been here before. Started with reservations earlier in the week. Super easy by calling ahead, but don't call on Monday as they are closed. Once we arrived we were promptly seated and the place was full of big parties all around but the noise level was low for conversation. After Janell greeted us and took our drink orders I offered a quick tour of the courts for possible future play. Once back our drinks were there and we ordered our food. While we skipped this time on appetizers (we did get desserts) it was entree time. One of our favorites here is the Eggplant Parmesan, my wife and good friend ordered. My friend's wife had the Chicken Marsala and I mixed it up with a Grilled Chicken Gnocci with Jalapeno, all of us loved our dishes and service too. I am embarrassed to say that we have lived 5 minutes from this amazing restaurant/bocce venue for over a year and have never stopped in. There will be no more of that silliness, because it was wonderful! The decor is gorgeous, old world Italian, definitely not cheesey. It makes you feel like you are dining outdoors in a villa, even when it is actually 14 degrees outside. My little man loved the fountain in the center of the space. You can tell that the design was meticulously conceived, down to the beautiful bathrooms. The food was incredible. It is served a la carte, so just be aware that the bill can grow quickly. For starters, I tried a cup of the Mushroom soup, which the restaurant is known for. It was savory and rich, and potentially the best I have ever had. My husband enjoyed a house salad, which was pretty generic from the looks if it, but he said the dressing was tasty. For our entrees, I ordered one of the Chef's Special items, which was Rotini with Sausage and Shrimp in a white wine sauce. It was savory, but light. My husband ordered his favorite, Gnocchi, but this variety came with blackened Chicken. My spice-loving hubs remarked that it was the best he'd ever had! We did follow with dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu and the Pistachio Creme Brulee. The Tiramisu was underwhelming, but the Creme Brulee was very tasty. Our service was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant, in general. She even gave our little man some coins for the fountain, which was a sweet gesture. This restaurant is pretty versatile. You could definitely visit for a date night, but I could see it being noisy later in the evening with the bocce. Of course, you can visit with a group and play! DO NOT COME HERE FOR BRUNCH. FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. I came with my family for mothers day. I was ok with the expense, even though it was high it was competitive with other brunches. $45 per adult and $20 per kid. I did not like the fact that they charged $20 for a 2 year old who should have been free. After eating the brunch I realized what a rip-off it was. The eggs were made out of powder (not real eggs). The had some type of poutine with stuff in it that I could not tell what it was. It was disgusting. The mushroom risotto was super mushy and overcooked. There was no type of potato at all. The waffles were cold and hard, the french toast sticks were from a bag that you buy in the freezer section of your grocery. They had prime rib that was laying in gravy and was like shoe leather. Lastly, I thought well they gotta have good pasta. NOPE, no spaghetti, no red sauce, just fettuccini alfredo. The problem with that is that it sauce was put on then is sat for god knows how long and it was a pile of dry noodles with sauce stuck to them. For desert they served cookies which came out of a package (terrible), cannoli's - which were just ok and tiny eclairs and cream puffs that came out of the freezer tubs sold at the grocery store. Then they let them sit and get warm for long it was mushy to eat. The ONLY thing that was good was the chicken. There was fresh fruit, which we ate but it was hard to come by. The buffet was not replenished when the food ran out and the food was left to sit too long. I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years and I have to say, SHAME ON YOU for charging this kind of money and serving the garbage that you did. I actually found it insulting. Oh and I don't want to forget about the waitress, waited 15 minutes to order a drink, we were short a utensil set and waited 15 minutes for that. Did not ask if we wanted a refill on our drinks. Did not have ONE dish taken off our table. It was piled high when we were all done. The girl was running around screaming and running around all excited like she had 100 tables. It was actually comical. It was a buffet! You just need to bring drinks and clear dishes LOL. Then to top it all off a 20% gratuity was added to the check automatically. So we had to tip for horrible service. I am not sure how this place is when it is just a regular menu but after this brunch I will never go back. You need new management and/or owners. What a complete waste of money. I would have been better driving down the freeway and throwing $400 bucks out the window. read more

Friday night! Time to dine out, right. We were in the mood for Italian and specifically, pasta! My girlfriend and I hadn't visited Palazzo Di Bocce and decided to try it out. After checking the restaurant website I called to make 5pm reservations as recommended. We drove over a little before 5pm and arrived in good time. The funny part is that there were only two other people there and the place is huge! None-the-less, we checked in and were seated immediately. We didn't wait five minutes before Cheyenne, our server, took our drink order and provided menus and wine selection information. She was very helpful throughout the evening. We ordered an appetizer of Bruschetta which was tasty and a little different from the same dish at other restaurants. My girlfriend ordered the Carbonara with a house salad and I ordered the Chicken Marsala with a helping of the Mushroom Soup. When I asked Cheyenne about the soup she confidently told me it would be the best I've ever eaten and she was right! It was delicious! I questioned her regarding wine choices, as I'm not very familiar with Italian wines. She suggested a Sangiovese that was pretty good and at a fair price. As we ate, a gentleman (server) would politely remove unwanted dishes from the table. Both meals were very good - although I think the mashed potatoes were out of a box. Frankly, I thought the Carbonara was much better than my Marsala! Following our meal we enjoyed desert and coffee - also very good. The cannoli I had was the best I'd had in years. (The shells are made fresh and not filled until ordered. So, rather than the typical soggy shell, it was nice and crunchy and of exceptional flavor!) The venue began filling up as we enjoyed our meal and the surroundings are beautiful. Service was excellent. We will return I'm sure and include a round of Bocce! read more

We had a blast!! There was about 7 of us for dinner and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I am dairy free so I struggled to Find what I wanted for dinner. However I did see roasted Brussel sprouts as an appetizer so I had that with some salmon. It was excellent! Everybody else really enjoyed their meals as well. Then we played bocce. Half of us, including me, never played before so we got instructions before hand. The guy who gave us the instructions stop by periodically to see how we were doing and to cheer us on. The court was very clean and well-maintained. We all had a great time in the 80 minutes we had to play the game - however we never finish the game because we were so new we had to debate the rules a few times. We're in Detroit quite a few times each year for hockey and Palazzo di Bocce is demanded by my teenage daughter every time we make the trip! I personally love the lasagne with the meat sauce. Its closer to Lake Orion but we typically drive 30-40 minutes just to go here. Their service has always been a positive experience anytime we go too. read more
