Every time we visit this place, it gets worse every single time. From the service to the seating. It's all over the place. If they do not know you or if you're not a friend of the owners be prepared to be seated in almost like a funeral room that they now have it's reeks of mold in that room and the service is not good at all, they forget about you. You will not get seated in the main room anymore unless you know the owner it's funny because we make these reservations weeks in advance and still get terrible tables and service. I went to this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends. We had made reservations the day before.First thing that gets noticed is the beautiful ambience. There were fresh roses at each table. Next thing to note however was how long it took us to even place the drinks order. The restaurant was packed and the servers were spread a little too thin. Our server took our drink orders after around 15 mins and rushed off before we could add appetizers to the order. On the plus side she was quite polite and also apologetic for the delay in service Luckily we were in for a slow catching up dinner and didn't mind the delay too much. My friends liked the filet tips pasta and the Cacio e Peppe which comes highly recommended. Burrata Caprese and Pollo La Collina were good but not remarkable as such. For drinks, I had ordered the Cosmopolitan which was a bit syrupy for my taste. The dessert - Italian lemon cake was yummy and they gave it complimentary for my birthday :) For such a busy night, there was ample parking at the square. I pray they decide to open Sundays for dinner because my family would be there all the time. This is truly the best Italian in all of Michigan, you will not convince me otherwise. I've been everywhere. The veal chop parm is exquisite, probably the best one I've had anywhere in the country. Cacio e Pepe amazing. Lemon cake, is my fave. It is indisputably the best restaurant in town. Ideal for groups, couples and singles. Took my wife here in October. We enjoyed the ambience, we appreciated staff's caring professionalism, and yes, we loved the food. Food was excellent. I had Filet Mignon. It is unassuming yet delightfully perfect. I observed the clientele that evening. A two beautifully dressed girls enjoying dinner before homecoming dance - a couple in their thirties escaping their toddlers, indulging in a meal prepared for them - a family of five asking for a bottle of wine, having great food, immersed in deep conversation - bartender surrounded with men and women full of energy. Came here after the Kris Kringle Christmas pop up (was dressed for cold) with a group of friends. Immediately felt like we were being judged because of our cold winter clothing and we were seated at the front corner by the front door despite there being plenty of other tables. Every time the front door opened our table caught a draft. Our first waiter ended up trading us off to another waiter after we asked for more time to review the cocktail menu (odd). I will also say, we couldn't find this place originally as it's tucked in a corner in a strip mall. They try to act like it's high end when it's really not. There's actually a gym right above it and it's not as fancy as they try to make it seem. After we ordered a round of shots of Clase Azul, the waiter came back from the bar to ask us if $40/shot was okay. Obviously we knew what we were ordering, another reason we felt mistreated. I am Italian born in Rome and I love this restaurant. I have been there three times already. But the last time I was there the waiter (by the way, a very attentive, professional and friendly young man) at the end of the dinner with my girl friend, suggested her a sip of "Vin Santo", an Italian sweet wine. Well, that sip (for one person) in a mini-glass, was $28.00! For less than this amount, I can get a shot of 15 years old pure Malt whisky from the Scotlands. That is really too much. But, having said that, this is a great place to enjoy authentic Italian food. So I still recommend it, and i will still go back. I will just avoid to order Vin Santo! :-) read more

Went to La Collina last night and joined my mother and aunt a little after they already ordered. I had left overs of the calamari and sausage and peppers. Mind you these items were cold and still tasted absolutely delicious. I went ahead and ordered the Cacio E Pepe and it truly was the best I've ever tasted in Michigan. I've never had better pasta anywhere else. I also ordered a limoncello basil prosecco drink (can't find the name) and it was very refreshing. The patio was nice and clean. The service was amazing. Should have read my own review before returning for the (third, I think?) time. Still excellent food, still a special date night. Even without reading my prior review, I was smart enough to order the chocolate "sufle" - as good as a high-end lava cake should be. But what surprised me was the lemon cake my wife ordered - this was the first time I have ever loved a lemon dessert. Loved. It might have been the most perfect a dessert lacking chocolate could ever be. Glad we got the cappuccinos as well - once again, the definition of a great cappuccino. Back to the non-dessert food, I need to learn that chunks of salmon mixed in with pasta is not our thing. The gnocchi was great, but having bits of salmon in the palomino sauce was confusing. Next time: gnocchi pomodoro it is! The eggplant parmigiana was probably the best I've yet had in a restaurant - still not like at home, but worth ordering. Ordering the burrata is a great idea, especially because you can get a small side of prosciutto - the right amount to remember how great it is, without coming close to overindulging. We had dinner here with our friends (4 total) and the overall experience was definitely lacking. Initially, seated in an overflow room, we had to ask for the heat to be tuned up. We waited far too long to be approached & for our drinks and ultimately, our meals. Our glasses were always way empty before we were approached, or another round was served. The small pasta plates weren't equal to the pricing (are noodles too expensive?). We had to ask for a miniature basket of bread (4 slices only for us 4 (emptied immediately & NEVER refilled), & oil & vinegar were NOT offered. We had to ask for freshly ground pepper for our salad & grated cheese for our pasta. All things we would expect to occur without asking from a restaurant that charges these price points. The entrees were 'okay', nothing to write home about. We don't ever write reviews, but for the prices we paid & the experience we received, we will not be eating dinner here again. read more

I just happened to be around and thought about checking it out - went in and omg I was SO underdressed. Yoga pants and a t-shirt is NOT the way to go guys. I'm also a person who enjoys eating alone and they told me they couldn't give me a table for 1 but to sit at the bar. So I did, and there were a group of older guys or whatever next to me. I ordered a glass of wine, looked over the menu and couldn't find anything that looked good. I'm a chicken person and there were only 2 options. One of which I found a picture of on here and it just didn't look like a portion worth the price. I ended up not ordering food, downing my drink, and still paying $20. Wonderful new Italian restaurant and a great addition to the Rochester area. I came here on a Monday night and was greeted immediately by the host. We were seated and welcomed by our waiter very quickly. The menu is pretty large with options to serve everyone. I opted for the linguine with clams and white sauce which was absolutely delicious. I consider myself a pasta queen, specifically a seafood pasta queen, so I've had quite a few different take on linguine with clams. This is by far one of the better ones. My boyfriend got the carbonara (American style) which he enjoyed very much. Before our main dishes came, the chef sent out a vegetable appetizer which had a bunch of seasonal vegetables sautéed in olive oil and was very delicious. It was really nice of the chef to do that and made our meal so much more complete. My only complaint was that the dishes were on the smaller size and a little pricey. Definitely not something I can afford once a week but for special occasions, for sure! I'll be back though because it was delicious!!!! read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Metro Detroit area. The food is incredible here and never disappoints. My husband and I frequent this establishment at least once, if not several times a month. It's perfect for a date night. Some of our favorite appetizers are: the Burrata Caprese, and the Involtini de Melanzane (an excellent choice of roller eggplant stuffed with ricotta cheese and sauce!) Their table side Caesar salad is to die for. And no questions asked the best entree is their Cacio e Peppe. It's enough for two, but trust me order one per person because you'll want to eat the entire dish. Last but not least, we always request Fabio as our waiter. He is so polite and always smiling, and never fails to take care of us. The food is always excellent but when you have Fabio as your waiter, your dining experience is going to be perfect. Never going back. Sorry , but no. First I was really looking forward to this dinner. It was a first time for us to go out as group and I was the one that suggested the place. The service was just horrible. I forgot the name of our server but it's a Wednesday 6:45pm (3/31) reservation if the owner is reading this. I knew it was not gonna be a good night when I was ordering my appetizers and told him it will be under my tab. This server said he won't do separate tab cause nobody told him.ok ! I said 3 tabs for the group then ... he was able to come to terms with that with visible annoyance, with his head moving from side to side . He made sure I knew he was not happy. The food came after an hour with our server not asking us if we need anything . Not even water. I ordered lobster risotto. It was a total disappointment. The picture is posted here . Finished the meal hoping I'll have some morsel of lobster. There were 3 ! Small pieces of lobster ( again small pieces) . One shrimp on top and too salty to top it off . My friend made this comment in google and La collina's response "you finished the meal " . Just blows my mind . 3 of us ordered the same meal . With the price we expecting something more . I'm not stopping here , the bathroom flush didn't work . The whole damn night . We told them about it , fixed it one time. Great dinner here last night. We started with the tableside caesar which was really nice to watch our server make. It was a little heavy on the pepper and garlic so a little too spicy for my friend but I thought it was wonderful. My friends had the beef carpaccio, lamb sausage, and cacio e pepe with chicken. I had the squid ink linguine. My friend was disappointed in the small portion size of the carpaccio and not too impressed with the sausage either. The pastas were great though! My linguine could have used a bit more salt or some parmesan cheese but still very tasty. We shared the tiramisu which was very good. The service was lacking (and they were not busy at all) but I would definitely return because the food and the atmosphere are great! read more

A small, intimate Italian restaurant with friendly and hospitable owners. I like to think of it as a neighborhood spot for regulars. I kept it simple on my first visit, eggplant parm and side of pasta. The eggplant parm was delicious, surrounded by crispy fried spinach which was unique. It was served a little bit cold, probably because the pasta was piping hot and made from scratch. The Caccio e Peppe was amazing! Also very unique, not like an Alfredo or Carbonara, it's a creamy sauce with lots of black pepper. I decided to order the panna cotta which was light, simple and tasty. We were here on a Monday night and the place was filled to capacity. They seated us right away with our reservation and the staff was amazingly kind. The food was good, classic Italian. The Cacio e Pepe pasta was perfectly al-dente. The gnocchi was very tasty. The table side Caesar was delicious. I think it was a bit pricey for what you get.
