    Masala chicken tikka
    Shahanaz B.

Most my friends rave about this place and finally I had the chance to come here with my family. The place was jam packed, we were lucky because at that time a table got vacated. Special mention to our waitress Sumanpreet; she was beyond excellent. She gave us her undivided attention, even when my family member had a facial expressions after tasing one of those dishes she would make sure our satisfaction is up to par. Sumanpreet made sure that all needs are met with her services to us. Food wise, everything was super delicious. Appetizers: Bhel Puri A + Aloo tiki B+ Main dishes: chana batura B+, masala dosa A-, saag paneer with Naan bread B +, masala chicken tikka A Desert: kulfi malai A+ pistachio kulfi A- There is isn' t about much to praise about the decor. The food and The service make this dinner really pleasurable. Recommended

Wow, I didn't expect to find such tasty and affordable food in the middle of Verdun. I ordered the mango lassi (simply awesome) and the lamb curry thali. The portions are plentiful and the food quality well above average. The lamb was a bit salty though, although nothing out of place. Counting down the days to try many more yummy dishes

Overall I'm really happy we stopped at Palais d'Ajit. The daal soup was good. Too sour for my own taste though, I wouldn't have it like that every time. But still good. The vegetable pakoras were excellent, and the dosa really good. And on top of it all, this restaurant is really cheap! Well go back for sure.

I was craving some Indian food for a while and someone recommended this place - so, here I was. Grabbed the Channa bhatura - which is chickpeas and fried bread - and sweet lassi (which was something I often had on weekends back in India). The food was fresh, good and did the job satisfying my craving. Have I had better? I lived in India, go figure if I have lol. In Montreal though, this is some of the best Indian I've had. I'll definitely come back to try other things, which on peeking at other tables looked good.

Everybody really enjoyed the food and actually some people enjoyed it so much that they took some portions home. We had spicy lamb, sag paneer, and butter chicken along with garlic naan and mango lasses and rice. So people had a great variety of different things that they can choose. The lamb was a good amount of spice and they did make sure to adjust the spice level and explain to you the different spice levels over the phone before ordering. I would definitely recommend coming back here. This was originally recommended to me by my Indian friends who raved about it.

But I decided for the Murgh Malai Tikka. I thought it was going to be similar to Tandoori chicken since it was cooked in a Tandoori oven, but it was a plate with 12 pieces of white meat chicken chunks marinated in yogurt (I know that's what the description says, but I was hoping that it was closer to a red Tandoori chicken). The food was good, but I am not a fan of white meat chicken. It was my fault, but the service and the overall experience was good. Many choices on their large menu.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

They have quite a bit of variety on the menu and it was difficult to choose but I finally decided on the sampler platter and my mom ordered a dish with black chickpeas. The black chickpeas are typically spicy but they toned it down for her and it was perfect. My sampler had six small dishes and a dessert with rice in the middle. Every dish was better than the last and the dessert was perfect, not too heavy. The service was very attentive, friendly. The restaurant seems very clean and had a cozy and comfortable ambience. I'm no longer in Montreal, I will return here when I am back and I have already told my Montreal friends they must try this place.
