Really good home cooking. Took the cooking class and really enjoyed it. The hours seem a little funny sometimes but worth going for it!

Went here because my favourite Indian restaurant was closed temporarily. We took the combo C :…read moresamosa, Tandoori chicken, butter chicken, vegetable bowl, rice and naan bread, and a small dessert. ($20) The tandoori chicken was delicious (2 pieces each), the butter chicken was quite different from usual for me, but tasty enough, the naans were huge and delicious, the vegetables were mushy but tasty enough . There were a lot of onion slices which I loved at the time but regretted later on. It was a large combo and I ate it all. Maybe it was a little too much for me as I was burping later on and had some digestion issues. The dining room itself is nicely decorated and comfortable. There were other groups of people dining. The toilet was nice enough if small, but smelled good, seemed clean. Service was friendly and pleasant, no rush, maybe a tad slow but I was hungry then. Most importantly for us it was BYOB, so you can enjoy your own wine from the SAQ. I would go again to test the bloat factor, maybe I just ate too much.

They chicken korma was so sweet and creamy I loved it. I usually always get a samosa when I'm ordering Indian but I added in the cheese paner pokara and they were really great. I loved that they gave extra sauce for the onion bhaji as well. I would recommend this location it's right on Wellington and since they have delivery or pick up you can call or even skip the dishes them.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!
