But I decided for the Murgh Malai Tikka. I thought it was going to be similar to Tandoori chicken since it was cooked in a Tandoori oven, but it was a plate with 12 pieces of white meat chicken chunks marinated in yogurt (I know that's what the description says, but I was hoping that it was closer to a red Tandoori chicken). The food was good, but I am not a fan of white meat chicken. It was my fault, but the service and the overall experience was good. Many choices on their large menu.

($20) The tandoori chicken was delicious (2 pieces each), the butter chicken was quite different from usual for me, but tasty enough, the naans were huge and delicious, the vegetables were mushy but tasty enough . There were a lot of onion slices which I loved at the time but regretted later on. It was a large combo and I ate it all. Maybe it was a little too much for me as I was burping later on and had some digestion issues. The dining room itself is nicely decorated and comfortable. There were other groups of people dining. The toilet was nice enough if small, but smelled good, seemed clean. Service was friendly and pleasant, no rush, maybe a tad slow but I was hungry then. Most importantly for us it was BYOB, so you can enjoy your own wine from the SAQ. I would go again to test the bloat factor, maybe I just ate too much.

I would recommend this location it's right on Wellington and since they have delivery or pick up you can call or even skip the dishes them.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

The pakoras are so flavourful and moist, the curries are full of flavour, the paneers firm, yet so soft that they melt in your mouth. I highly recommend giving it a try. We started with the crispy corn and onion pakora apps. Both great, but either would have done the 3 of us. Then South Asian lamb curry, chicken saag (coconut spinach sauce), and butter chicken biryani. Each absolutely delicious. We ate maybe half each dish, and just had another great meal of the leftovers. Our server was very helpful and friendly, and the place was full of happy customers; lots of business lunchers. The room is fine, though weirdly lit (combination of warm and cold lighting). One thing to be aware of is they were out of whole pages of the 15-page menu. So I would suggest asking first. They told us the South Asian lamb curry would be extremely hot, but either they were overcautious or they toned it down because it was fine. So I hope you enjoy it!
