After he scanned my items, I asked, "Can I have a bag?" and his face instantly changed and I could tell he had a smirk or was trying to hold in a laugh. He gave me a bag and as I was bagging my items, he turned to another cashier and said, "can I have a bag" all while squinting his eyes (im asian) and proceeded to start laughing. The other cashier who had a piercing on her septum started laughing and said "I don't know, can you?" and they both proceeded to laugh. Definitely wanted to cuss him out and make a scene (just finished a 10 hr shift at work so super on edge) but controlled myself and got out of there. First I say hi, how you doing no reply, then i had 3 bags potato chips, after scanning she proceeds to throw the chips onto conveyor belt, then i also has a 1 lb bag of brown and she also throws the brown sugar on bag of chips. This store has a wide selection of items so it's my new go to instead of Safeway.... it's huge and they literally have some of everything and it's always well stocked and organized... prices are pretty much the same as Safeway since they are a sister store .... staff is pretty nice and they never have the horribly long lines that Safeway has so that's a huge plus... parking is also never an issue at this location because of the massive parking lot... annnddd they also stay open super late so it's a win all around... read more

Went in at 11:30pm or so and was the only person in the entire store. Black female cashier had an attitude. Don't bother asking me if I "found everything alright" if you're gonna repeat it in the most sarcastic manner possible when I ask you to clarify what you said. I've lived across the Bay in San Francisco nearly all my life, and never received service so shamelessly hostile that I'd be compelled to post a review, despite there being lines at checkout at those Safeways well into the night. This cashier was being paid to do one job with ONE customer in the whole goddamn store and managed to fuck that up. Don't plan on coming back except to use their Amazon lockers. There are other grocery stores in the neighborhood so I can do my shopping without the side of hostility and condescension. read more

I come in in the mornings from day to day. I must say. In all my years coming here now is my favorite time. There is a tall handsome security guard there and he just so happy and polite. Also. They have a lovely young woman working in the front of the store. She cleans the carts before people use them. No where else does this. I will sometimes shop at this store in the morning on my way to work. Every time I go in, it is extremely dirty, especially the floors. One day I went in and found eaten chicken wings on the dairy aisle floor. Yesterday I went in and almost didn't want to walk through the parking lot. There was trash everywhere, a huge pile of cigarette butts and vomit. After retrieving my groceries, I walked out and passed by two transients that wreaked of urine. Then as I was walking to my car, a guy proceeded to follow me on his bike to try to sell me air freshener. When I declined he became super persistent and asked if I could just give him money. When I declined and said I'm on my way to work for my hard earned money, he became super belligerent and graphic about his family line of prostitution. Maybe have a security guard out there. I think this was the last time I'll be going to this location. read more

Being from Souther California I have never stepped foot into a Pak 'n Save before, so I decided to pop my cherry today. This store is like any other affordable grocery store. I spent most of my visit in the Meats section because I wanted to compare their steak prices to what I usually spend at my typical grocery store. Based on my first impression of the store because this store looked aged, I thought that prices would be considerably lower. But they're right around the same price that I would usually spend back home. Other than this issue I would prefer to stop by this store than the Safeway down the street. I shop here often because the selection is Costco huge. I don't notice prices any lower but I don't come in for that reason, I do find that it's frustrating that I have to go all the way around the store if I forget a veggie due to the set up to avoid theft. While Pak'n Save is just a fancy set of words for Safeway warehouse store, it does offer us many other little perks that it's parent company does not. For instance, this place is open until about 2AM most nights and they have a large and well stocked selection of alcoholic beverages. They also have their one draw backs. The lay out of the store makes it hard to find certain things and they're understaffed. However, the things that they carry in large number have saved my butt in certain situations. Like the many times I have been here very late at night picking up some Ben and Jerry's ice cream for a certain large headed tiny love of mine. There have been many times when this place is where my friends and I had to get drinks because other local shops were all closed and Food Max was too packed. Love this store, I always call the other Safeway places Pak N Save I've been using this store since I was 7 years old, fast forward 14 years and I'm still using it. The clerks are extremely friendly, courteous, and helpful. They price match, and their stuff is usually cheaper than other places. Plus they have a lenient return policy. When I don't want to make the drive to CV for Trader Joe's and I'm not quite broke enough to brave the lines at Food Maxx, I stop by this Pak 'n Save. For those who don't already frequent this store, think of it as Safeway without the high prices or courtesy clerks. Some of the high-end products aren't always available and there's no deli counter. Parking can be troublesome especially on Saturdays when folks stand in long lines to make money on recycling. Grab your own bags and put your children/spouse on bagging duty and save some money on groceries. read more

Every time I come here it's always something: - waiting for someone at the deli counter and eventually had to call the main line to find out everyone was in a safety meeting. No note. No message notifying customers. - got to the deli counter about 15 minutes before they closed. The light was still on and the lady was in the back. Rather than say sorry we are closed. The 1 star goes to the majority of employees here that are super friendly. Everything else is terrible! The lines are always long as they keep 1-3 registers open, no matter if it's a busy time of year. The meat is always rotting, which is why it's so cheap. And it's just in a bad neighborhood. I walked in with the expectation that this was a sub par Safeway, since their circulars come together; plus Pak 'n Sav is owned by Safeway. I am not sure why they are different but sell the same things, I'm thinking demographics have something to do with it like how Carl's Jr is Hardy's on the East Coast. I was there with a friend and my boyfriend to get our hands on some grenades, and we choose to come here. The line was short at check out but the service was slow considering the lady in front of us had two separate ring-ups; one on food stamps and one paid in $20's (beer and such). I didn't understand how someone could have a wad of $20's and need to be on stamps. That is neither here or there though. When it was our turn we were done fairly quickly. I am not sure if I'll return, it wasn't a great experience, even the security guy seemed to be messing around and not fully doing his job. read more

Pak 'n Save is basically a cheaper version of Safeway. I usually go here on my lunch breaks to stock up on healthier food since most of the restaurants in the area are pretty unhealthy. Cheaper prices do come with some sacrifices, though. You'll be bagging your own items and there's usually not very many checkers, so lines can build up. This place is my first choice if I'm at work. If I'm at home, though, I definitely prefer Safeway. read more

Even though I live relatively close I only go here if I really have to. A few times I've walk in, saw who the checkers were and turned right around and went to the Safeway or Lucky's, or just said I don't need the item that much. The problem is since it's basically a place for almost expired food the food is cheaper and you get the customer associated with it, and worker. However there are two workers who are super nice which is the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. Then there are the lines. No matter what time of day or night there is always a line. If you don't have any other choices I would recommend not shopping here. read more

They require masks to enter, encourage social distancing (the spaces for lines are marked 6 feet apart) and are open during regular business hours. My go to grocery store that's soo close to home. They always have what I am looking for. It can be pretty expensive, but depending on what you are looking for. It is worth it to have a safeway card since majority of their items have a club card deal. This location also had a bakery and deli all the way in the back. I recommend people to go here if you have to grab ingredients for whatever you're making last minute. I know i'll be back since I shop here at least once a week! read more

We've been buying our groceries here ever since we moved in this house when I was 3. Some of the clerks recognize me or even know me by name now. Pak N Save is kind of the bottom rung of the Safeway ladder - they don't get remodeled to have fancy lighting in their produce department and they don't ever have a Starbucks. But their prices are somehow better and they're geared more toward actual family shopping on a budget. They often have boneless skinless chicken breats cheaper than Costco prices. Their ethnic aisle is decent and there's even have an separate BBQ sauce/marinade section. I've never had to wait that long in line too. Minus a star for the people asking for donations at the door all the time and for the lack of cart jockeys. Sure you bag your own groceries, but if you want the bagger to smash your eggs with milk or use an excessive amount of bags for your goods, then drive the extra mile to the Safeway at Greenhouse. read more

OMG! I was planning to run in and just pick up some bananas this evening but notice that now Pak n Save offers a huge selection of bulk items just like Whole Foods without the Whole Foods price. A great selection of nuts, (roasted and raw), dried fruits, quinoa selections, gourmet healthy cereals, almond flour, coconut flour, beginning chips, gummy and chocolate candy and a whole bunch of other items by the pound. Plus they even have loose leaf tea blends like you would see at a Teavana store. My mouth dropped when I saw everything. If you are in the neighborhood go check it out. This store was recommended by a friend as I've had so many frustrating (and sometimes scary) experiences with non-compliance and rudeness during this COVID time. This store is my new go-to! Yes the building is older but the store is kept immaculate, well stocked and has wide isles. You can see behind the masks that the employees are happy and they are all friendly and helpful. Most appreciated is the Store Director, James, and the Front Manager, Alicia, and Denny, ICC, have all lead by example...their customer service, communication and follow up... above and beyond! Not only is their cleaning and sanitizing evident throughout the store but they maintain one check line and then you are directed to the next check-out so people are crowded behind you.
