So I've been driving by this place whether if it's the same business owners or not for about two decades and have never stopped by. Now I throw food into different categories because you truly get what you pay for and here's my deets on their Texas burger and fries! The burger by itself is $7.35. Comes with cheddar, bacon, bbq sauce and onion rings inside. As well as the normal lettuce and tomato. Now everyone knows how expensive burgers are these days and can easily add up way over $10 for basics. This was a frozen patty but everything else was fresh and the bacon was crispy which should be burger law. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and yielding inside. Had some sort of seasoning salt with some celery salt after taste. I liked em! More importantly the service was genuinely friendly and that is a huge factor to me giving people money for a service. They were also fast and made sure I had napkins and such. May not be the best burger in town but for the service and money it was surprisingly nice. I saw a hand written sign here today featuring Mexican shrimp cocktails (coctel de camarones). Yes! This bad boy had plenty of cooked shrimp and spiced with tomato sauce over top, plus goodies such as cucumber, lime, jalapeño, and avocado. It was served with a bag tortilla chips. $13 +tip. Tony's Market is easily seen on a driveby on highway 580. there isn't any parking but street parking. very small shelf space within. noticed at a glance deli/food section wouldn't be open till 6/15. noticed granite rocks in back of store. interesting. lots of draft beers, wines. didn't see posted pricing till later (it's on back of bottle). didn't have any issues as i'm Asian as is the cashier. (more than a coincidence?) buys: moab brewery: black imperial ipa (10.99) utah, 25 oz. 8.59% -stiff, smooth brew, great for drinking in utah, nothing special on west coast. -many out of area labels as well as the usual suspects. not many "classics". fizz: -nice place to grab a bres. may not be ur brand but one can get a buzz. ur mileage may vary. read more

Beware of the angry Asian man working in the market. He is very rude, and I believe is purposefully overcharging people. Make sure you check your receipt which you will have to ask for as he doesn't hand them out freely. His prices are abominable, and I suspect he doesn't get return customers, just people getting off the freeway for an emergency purchase. On the other hand, the deli should not be held responsible for this man. They are very friendly and make good sandwiches. read more

This is the cleanest liquor store in Oakland! Beautifully stocked and well lit! I was able to get what I needed and the man at the register was very nice. Definitely a place I will go to if I need something. My chips were fresh and all I can say is I'll definitely come back! Thank you! read more

Stopped here yesterday after passing by many, many times on our way to bingo! This is the friendliest, most welcoming store I have ever been in! I've lived down the street for 3 years. Have gone in a few times. It is true, I've seen them accuse small African American children of stealing every time I go in. He checks their bags. My atm card was cloned here and used in SF for $300. The only place I used this card with a PIN number in weeks and weeks. 5 mins after I left I got notified my account was being used at a bank on Geary Blvd in SF. Hmmmm. Do yourself a favor. Drive up Keller to the Keller market. They're actually really cool and don't scam people in addition to not being racist. The owner here only treats white people respectfully and it's impossible for them not to be involved in card cloning given my circumstances. read more

This guy would charge you extra to break a $20 dollar bill. He charges you a fee to use your debit card to pay him for the items you are already purchasing from him. His prices are laugh-out-loud, comically high. I'm surprised he doesn't ask for a cover charge at the front door just to get in. But there is a solution: If you absolutely have to shop here in an emergency, bring him a bag of pre-counted, grimy, low-denomination coins that amount to $0.01 over the purchase price. Place the bag on the counter and encourage him to keep the change. He absolutely hates that, but he can't do a thing about it and he deserves it. Carry on. read more

Second, who tries to charge me 4.99 for 1 roll of paper towel & to top it off the roll wasn't covered in plastic. It was just sitting out on the shelf. I drive a lot for work and stopped by this place to scope out their deli area. I asked for a recommendation, and was told their burgers were good. I was honestly a little hesitant, but went with their avocado burger, and it was delicious! Very pleasantly surprised. It's not quite 5* worthy, but also the missing star was for the lady behind the counter in the market portion of the place eyeing me like I was stealing something. Cmon now. My 14 year old African American daughter went into this store because she was thirsty and wanted to purchase a bottle of water. We have a bank account together, so she has her own debit card with enough money on it to make sure she eats, and takes care of herself when we are apart. She proceeds to the counter with her bottle of water where she was met by an older Asian gentleman (I use this term loosly) who asked her if that was it....Once my daughter said yes, he told her no and put the bottle back on the shelf and refused to sell it to her! I will be visiting the store to share my opinion of his behavior in person. read more

Just ate a cheeseburger, fries and soda from here. It was very good. Took it home added a little bit of sweet chili sauce to the burger and dip my fries in some of the sweet chili sauce and it just put it over the top. Very good. read more

This joint is, as of this date, in transition. It's a totally reasonable mini market with a few greeting cards, canned goods, alcohol (lots of alcohol), cigarettes, dairy, a few fresh veggies, lottery, bread, snacks, soft drinks, and a few car and kitchen tools. Watch out when parking your car, because trying to open your car door against that fast traffic can be an adventure. read more

I love the addition of the Mexican food in the deli! The food is delicious, fresh, authentic and reasonably priced.

Teriyaki plate with the salad is the lick. Ingredients are fresh and food is wonderful. I love the fact that you can actually watch them prepare your food and even grab a delicious ice cold beverage while waiting. One stop shop for all your food and beverage needs! VERY VERY rude. Treats customers like they don't matter. The owner is always on the phone while helping customers and talking loud. He is also very short with customers and gets frustrated when you ask one or two question. This place is garbage and I would rather travel a 100 miles for a soda then to give this ungrateful piece of crap my business. Today 3/26/2020 i choose to come into this store looking for eggs! I had been searching for EGGS for a week to no avail. I lucked up and found that TONY'S LIQUOR STORE had them in stock. The price of $2.99 or $3.49 was what i expected (their normal price) so i attempted to purchase them. I asked for the price when i got to the counter and found out that they were $4.99!!!!!!!! I asked how come they are so high and that they are normally $2.99. The Asian was extremely rude as IF I SHOULD HAVE ALREADY KNOWN THE ANSWER and said every thing is double or triple the price. SMH! Now we are in the middle of a global pandemic and this place is a neighborhood store that has been in this location for long past 20 years. Instead of price gouging your customers, why not remain as faithful to them as they have to u and maintain integrity? Its a struggle to find necessities as we battle the dangerous COVID-19 virus when use this time to rob the community. Needless to say im done with this store and will never go again and will also be leaving a similar review and EVERY platform i use to notify my community if the disgusting actions of TONY'S LIQUOR STORE. Went to Tony's with my nephew to get some burgers, I had a turkey burger it was burnt & the taste was not good. The last time I order a turkey burger it was burnt & taste horrible. Bomb burger! Hidden little deli in the back of the store actually makes a really good burger! Store is a little disoriented but you can find pretty much anything you need. It's called convenience store not cheap store - don't go expecting Safeway prices. It's there when you forget something and don't want to fight the crowds at bug stores. TRY THE BURGER! read more

They get 4 stars for now and will more than likely get another one when the parking lot becomes a parking lot and the new 'eats counter' gets finished. I like what the new owners have done with this place formerly known as Oak Knoll Grocery I believe - now known as Tony's Market. It's clean and tidied up and the new owners are very nice. They are cleaning up outside as well which is a good thing for the neighborhood. We stop by for things we do not typically buy in a grocery store. We like to support small business in the community. Unlike the earlier post, having Sparky's open a little 'eats' counter in there is welcome. We like their shakes and fries at the first location and have no doubt that the counter they put in at Tony's aka Oak Knoll will be a nice addition. They think the expansion will take place sometime late July and are going through the remodel and inspections and all that right now. It's nice to know that things are moving along over there! read more
