My main bone to pick is with Jay. I trusted him with my first tattoo ever and he ripped me off and gave me an ugly tattoo. He charged me 250$ for the tattoo and acted like there wasn't a mistake. And I'm the type of person that will still tip someone. I was furious it's total was 300$. Bullshit. I gave jay creative freedom over the tattoo design and I could have easily agreed to a color tattoo if he suggested it as the best option. He never sent me a picture of his design or really talked to me I just showed up and was kinda forced to pick the one option. Jay should have been straight up said I can make this tattoo look a lot better if I did it in color. I was a very accommodating client and in no way was difficult. But I feel Jay gave me a bad black and grey tattoo. And took advantage of me. Coming in to the shop was bad right off that bad I wasn't treated nicely. I was instantly ridiculed for bring me boyfriend. Jay never mentioned people were not allowed to come with you to your tattoo. Instantly when I sat in the chair it was awkward. Jay didn't make an effort to communicate, and as soon as he began outlining and shading he messed up starting the carpet from the movie. There was nothing I could do about it. And I was furious. I hated my first tattoo experience because of jay. He gave me a jacked up tattoo and I'm pissed. You can barely make out the numbers in on the keychain. And most times people only see the god damn key and ask what it's connected to. The composition sucks and so does the shading. Overall moral of this is: DO NOT GO TO JAY FOR BLACK AND GREY! HE WILL JUST STEAL YOUR MONEY AND YOUR STUCK WITH A BAD TATTOO! If I could give it NO STARS I WOULD!

Michael Langdale was my artist and he was super friendly, also very talented and knowledgeable on his craft. He made sure I was comfortable and was happy to explain the whole process or any questions I had before and during any session. I felt I was getting quality service and work, and ultimately did. The piece looks amazing and was definitely worth it. Healing was also a breeze. The location is also convenient and really nice. It's easily accessible by septa, there is also parking available too! It's a smaller shop, but welcoming. Everything is really clean and sterile, which I feel besides the overall atmosphere and quality of work, that's REALLY important too. You can see new items being taken out from the packages before your tattoo/work is started. Everything is organized and well kept. Whether you have many tattoos, few, or none, I recommend checking this place out!

I went back 2 weeks later for a small tattoo for myself and then within months, was collaborating with Mike on a half sleeve incorporate a cover-up. I gave Mike reference photos of the 2 dragons I wanted, some high-level ideas and a deposit and he turned that into a beautiful piece. We had sessions every two weeks for 3 months and I can confidently say he is consistently friendly, chill, cares about his clients' comfort, has little ego and really wants people to love their ink. Following his advice was never a mistake, he's an artist you can trust. I'm already planning my next big piece. Beyond Mike, the shop itself is great. I am so happy we called Neckboneink We walked in 15 minutes after getting off the phone and Mike was willing to accommodate and work with us which was a blessing during these COVID times. He listened to us and offer his professional opinion in a respectful manner. We spent 30-40 minutes on the design as simple as it was, customizing it for each of us to make sure all three of us where happy and the details were perfect. The tattoo process was smooth and comfortable thanks to Mike being down to earth and so easy to talk to. Before I knew it my tattoo was done. He answered all my questions and shared with me his love for tattooing and how the industry/ tattoo process have changed over the years and the new tattoo advancements he's implemented himself like his tattoo machine and the derm shield which he uses for his clients. He sent us home with after care instructions, tattoo goo and tattoo lotion. The derm shield was heaven sent and made the healing process seamless and fast compared to my other tattoos which didn't have the derm shield on it. All I had to do in terms of after care was leave the derm shield on for 5 days and after that just moisturize. My tattoo didn't scab and healed beautifully and fast. The parlor itself was impeccable and spotless. You could tell that Mike put his heart and soul into the shop. The shop was decorated beautifully with Mikes artwork from framed pieces, to canvases and a giant tv showing a slide show of his tattoo work. Even the curtains separating tattoo stations were customized with his art on them. Definitely the nicest shop I've been to and I've been to several. Overall I cannot recommend Mike and Neckboneink enough. I will not be going anywhere else for future tattoos. Such an incredible experience from start to finish. Thank you Mike!!

Eric...Anthony...Christian and now AJ are such professionals and they always make you feel comfortable in the shop! Now with COVID guidelines in place..they do a great job w/mask wearing...hand sanitizers and socially distance regulations! I had an idea pre-Covid for my Tattoos..but after I got my vaccine...I was ready to move forward with my plan! I allowed the new guy..AJ to take a shot...glad I did...he was patient with my indecisiveness at times and was able to bring my vision to life! Let's start this one off with a story. I met Chico before I turned eighteen; my best friend was…read moregetting his third tat done and I tagged along out of sheer curiosity. I expected some punk-rock dude with gauged ears and strange piercings and tattoos EVERYWHERE in a seedy, shady shop tucked away in some corner of the boonies. I did not get what I expected at all. The shop is AWESOME and pristine as all get out. There's tattoo themed artwork all over the place; statues in glass cases of hot girls getting ink and Black Crowes paraphernalia everywhere (Chico's a huge fan.) And pirate stuff. There's lots of that all over. I was impressed. Clean white tile floors, comfy sitting area, body mod mags; it was cool to little ol' sheltered me. Then there's Chico himself. Personable, friendly, and he doesn't eff around. If something's going to look awful, he's going to tell you. This guy will take you to school and you'll be darn grateful he did. He may run a tight ship but he is the most laid-back person I know. Wicked sense of humor and handsome as heck (a winning combo if I do say so myself.) I may be a little biased though; I dig the biker-pirate-rockstar look. :) I was smitten from the get-go and vowed I would always go to him for ink. Well, I'm an idiot who succumbed to peer pressure while in college. I wanted an ink painting style tattoo of cherry blossoms on my rib cage. The tattoo guy I went to free handed my tat after looking at a picture of what I wanted done. It came out looking like a diagram of cancer polyps. When I came back from school, I showed Chico the mess I had gotten myself into. Wincing, he said he'd fix me (the tattoo was THAT bad.) And he did. And praise the Gods of indelible ink, he made the cancer polyps look like flowers and they are beautiful! If you go to his shop, he's got a billion photo albums of tattoos he's done, cover ups he's done, and tattoos he's fixed. I think I've gained notoriety for having had the most miraculous tattoo transformation. At least, I like to think so...seriously. Cancer polyps to flowers. So other than being tall, dark, handsome, and brilliant, Chico is a fantastic artist. I trust NO ONE other than him to satiate my cravings for ink and pain because I know without a doubt I will never be disappointed in his work or abilities. I have since added two koi to my tattoo collection, both relatively large and the details are incredible. Chico is supremely accommodating and very willing to work with you so you get the tattoo that you want. No matter how big of a pain you are (and I am a HUGE pain in his behind) you will never be made to feel like you're an inconvenience. Be prepared to hear things you don't want to hear; it bears repeating that Chico won't sugar coat anything. Which is something you should want in a tattoo artist; Chico won't do something just to make a buck. He's a great guy and incredibly trustworthy and you should definitely check him out before heading down to South Street. No offense, guys.
