I have three tattoos. I am in no way a tattoo expert however I have never been so disappointed in an experience than I was in Olde Media Tattoo's. My three friends and I were scheduled at Baker Street Tattoos first, but my one friend messed up the appointment times so we researched some other establishments. We found this online and I called. The guy who answered the phone was really nice and said that someone would be available around 3:30. We said we would get there then! It was short notice so I really appreciated them fitting us in, until I got there. We walked in. There was a red hair dude sitting on Facebook (doing nothing for work) and it literally took him 5 minutes to even acknowledge our presence. When he finally turned his seat to us from his busy day of Facebook stalking, he asked how he could help us. My friend had drew a tattoo that meant something to all of us. We showed him the sketch. He basically made fun of it, said it would look like crap in ten years, asked what it "even is ", laughed at it, made a bunch of rude comments about it and pretty much made fun of it and made us all feel like crap. Even if the tattoo would not have worked, he did not have to make fun of it, he could have sold us on something else, actually been helpful, not rude. We wanted to size it down and none of us are tattoo experts and were even open to looking for something else they had, but he did not even offer that. He just made fun of the print my friend worked hard on and meant something too all of us. This was literally the worst experience I have ever had at a tattoo place or anywhere for that matter. I am literally telling every single person I know to never go there. We went to Baker street, they got us in. The service there rocked they helped us draw a tattoo that would work more and would last, they were so nice, so helpful and I recommend anyone who goes to Ole Media Tattoo to TURN AROUND and go to Baker Street unless they enjoy getting treated badly by a stuck up tattoo artist that apparently is too good for the 400 dollars we spent at Baker Street. I know a lot of friends that go to Olde Media Tattoo and they were shocked and said they are usually really nice, maybe it was just the red head dude, but like I said, I am telling everyone I know to NEVER GO HERE. I have never even wrote a negative review in my life, but I made a point to say how awesome Baker Street was and how awful this was. I have never had someone make me feel so bad about myself. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Shane Munce though a mutual friend and it truly was a blessing that I was. I have many tattoos but the tattoos I have received from Shane are a level of quality above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. If Malcolm Gladwell did a section about tattoo artists in his book, "Outliers." I believe Shane Munce would have been the perfect artist to use as his example of high success and an outlier in the industry. Shane is a true professional. After going to him, I would not even consider letting anyone else tattoo me. He has years and years of experience developing his skill and technique and is a master of his craft. Shane will work with you on your idea and be very honest when he feels something wont work, and make recommendations of ways you can stick with the idea, but in a way that will be a beautiful, long lasting tattoo. Most artists will let you walk in and just tattoo you with what you hand them, but I for one, would much rather prefer an artist that will approach it with the diligence the subject deserves, and help make a game plan that will result in a great outcome. Most people walking in off the street are not tattoo experts and our ideas are not always the best If a tattoo artist makes a suggestion you should absolutely listen to them and not be offended. You also should not go into the process trying to find the best deal or the cheapest artist. This is a permanent decision and should be made with great care. Going to an artist like Shane is the best thing to do because he will help you shape your idea the correct way. He truly takes pride in his work and I feel 100 percent confident he would never put a piece on anybody that he was not proud of. By going to Shane, you are guaranteeing that you will receive a quality piece. The biggest cause for anxiety when going to get a tattoo is wondering if it will turn out good. By going to Shane you are relieving yourself of that anxiety. It is a GUARANTEE that you will be satisfied and receive top quality work from a grand master of the practice. I bartend, so I am often in the public eye, and I can not even quantify the amount of times people have closely surveyed my ink, drooling over Shane's work and inquiring about where I got it done. I've been getting tattooed for 14 years now, and had been to a bunch of other shops in the tri-state area before I found Shane - and I am SO grateful I found him! I've been going to Olde Media Tattoo for over two years now, and I can honestly say Shane Munce will never disappoint. He has a natural talent that is undeniable. He has done a full sleeve of my favorite series, Harry Potter. I never imagined it to turn out as beautiful as he has made it to be. I constantly get stopped by people of all ages everywhere I go, and they just have to ask who my artist is. I have been told countless times by people who claim they aren't a fan of tattoos how beautiful, well done, and well placed my tattoos are. And I have to agree! Olde Media Tattoo is by far the best place to go to get tattooed in the delco and surrounding area. I got my first tattoo at Baker Street and never went back, I just got weird vibes. So then I tried Olde Media and I haven't been to any other shop since. Every guy there is extremely talented at what they do, and if you're looking to get a quality tattoo, this is the place to go. I can only speak about Shane Munce, since he's the only one there I've been tattooed by, however, my dad just recently got tattooed by Roddie, and he is obsessed with his new phoenix tattoo. The 3 (soon to be 4) tattoos he's done on me are by far my favorites. I get so many compliments and comments regarding them and I'll always refer people to Shane. They know what they're doing, and they guide you in the right direction. They don't want to give you a shit tattoo that you won't love in the future, and they want to offer you high quality and uniqueness. I first hooked up with Shane in the fall of 2011. From then till now I've gotten 5 pieces done and had him do a once-over on an existing tattoo I had gotten 10+ years ago by another artist. I'm a fan of realism/portrait style, and he definitely hits the mark every time! His attention to detail and his knowledge of correct shading techniques really makes his pieces standout! I have gotten compliments from friends, family, and strangers on how real looking the tattoos are. What's nice about working with Shane is that he is not pushy in anyway, he will listen to your ideas, and he will also put his input in on how he thinks the piece will look the best and what ideal placement on the body would be. Most people these days want to be told only what they want to hear, but he will let you know if something won't look exactly right and how/if it should be altered or suggest a completely different image. And that's good advice, because after all tattooists are artists and know what will work and what won't. On a side note, Shane and I have a common interest in music, so we rock out each tattoo session to an array of great music, which sets a good tone for the duration of the tattoo session! I have been getting tattooed for over 20 years and got tattooed by Shane at Olde Media Tattoo. He is by far one of my favorite tattoo artists. After all of the tattoos I have gotten I have to say this is my favorite. I can't go anywhere without someone stopping me to ask where I got my tattoo! First off this shop is AWESOME!!! I have been going to Roddie for all my tattoo work and wont step a foot in any other shop period. He drew up an awesome custom chest piece and half sleeve my first time around. I was referred here years ago by a friend and now I'm a customer for life. We then followed up with a stunning coverup too. He is great and always very accommodating to what I want and always takes the time to hear what you want and take it to another level. The whole staff is really laid back and welcoming every time I come in. Roddie's focus on the cover up we did was stellar, and it came out awesome. He has a great eye for detail on everything he does and I can't wait to come back for more work!! I will happily admit that I was afraid before getting another tattoo; it can be an anxiety-ridden experience for some, let's be honest! But for me, anxiety causes my blood pressure to drop--then I black out and have seizures. Scary, Right? You would think that a tattoo artist would be hesitant to tattoo someone like me... After disclosing this information to Shane Munce, an amazingly talented artist at Olde Media Tattoo, he made a few stellar suggestions that worked wonders and got to working on a piece that I am proud to say is my absolute favorite!!! I've been getting work done on me for many years and I've known a lot of tattoo artists both good and bad. After trial and error with several artists I came across one that was perfect for me and that artist is Shane. He does excellent work and he is MORE than fair with his prices. He takes his time and never rushes a piece and always stands behind his work. He doesn't judge you based off of what you want to get done and he won't butcher you like some other artists will. He will talk to you the whole time he is working on you like he has known you for years which I believe will make any nervous person feel more at home. He is probably the only man that I would feel 100% comfortable tattooing or piercing my girlfriend or daughters(when they get old enough) because I know he won't be a total creeper about it like some other artists tend to be. I recently finished up a full arm sleeve that also was a cover up of two extremely dark tribal pieces on my upper arm. The end result was better then I could have ever imagined. I was so excited to start my Star Wars sleeve and even more excited to have an artist that was just as excited and into tattooing me as I was in getting tattooed. My artist was Shane Munce. I went to him after checking out his portfolio and being amazed at the quality of his work and after I met him I knew right away I wanted him to do it. I am in the process now of coming up with new tattoo ideas and there is no chance I will ever go somewhere else. I've had the pleasure and honor of receiving two of my biggest pieces from Shane Munce. My first was the inside of my arm; done at the Philly tattoo convention this year. He talked me through my cluster f#ck of ideas and gave some really awesome suggestions. I wasn't supposed to get it done that day but he had some room to work with and made sure he had the time to take me. My second piece went on the outside of my arm and was much more detailed and intricate then the first. He did it at his shop, I was a few minutes late trying to find the shop but when calling the staff there directed me road by road until I arrived. So polite (I'm no Magellan). I've gotten my last four tattoos at Olde Media with Shane, whose name I first heard on twitter via one of the many rockstars he's tattooed. Imagine my surprise to find he worked out of this shop in Media, PA, right in my backyard!! Shane is a highly knowledgeable and skilled artist, and he WILL tell you if something you want done may not work, why that is, and he will work with you to make any adjustments needed to make sure that the ink you put on your skin looks good and stands the test of time. That is called integrity, and don't you want that in your tattoo artist? My wife and I were looking to get work done that was probably the most meaningful tattoos we have. Knowing and dealing with artists for many years, I spoke to Shane out of nowhere with one phone call and he couldn't have been more open and accommodating to me. A little while ago my best friend in the world, my dog, passed away from cancer so I wanted to get a portrait tattoo of him on my arm. After doing a lot of research I found Shane Munce at Olde Media Tattoo. His work was unbelievable and he was a great guy when I met him. Even after seeing his work I was still nervous about how it would turn out because this was such a special tattoo for me. I got my first tattoo 25 years ago from Jersey Joe at Philaldelphia Eddies shop. A very traditional piece but nonethe less I was hooked on tattoos a soon realized they really are like potato chips - you can't have just one!
