I went to Paint Nail Bar in Encinitas today for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Lynn was my nail technician performing my treatments and she did such a fabulous job, not to mention her massage was the PERFECT amount of pressure. I received an Uptown Girl pedicure and Gel-X manicure in preparation for a wedding I'm attending soon. I'm not one to get acrylics so when I learned of their gel extensions called Gel-X I was thrilled. Lynn did such a great job applying them and shaping them. I call back and was put on hold While she did a return and a purchase at the cash register register for jewelry. Clearly males are not their main source of revenue. Then when I tell the woman i'm looking for a gel manicure she proceeds to ask me if I need removal and then I say yes. Then she says I can't do a removal and gel nails but I can do a manicure. I've never heard this before in my life!!! Then the owner wants to argue with me about how they're a small business. News flash.. they are a franchise!!!! I will not ever step foot in that salon. I had a dazzle dry manicure with Elia today and it was a wonderful experience. The salon is clean and airy and the front desk was nice and welcoming. I've been doing my own nails for the past couple of years and my cuticles and nails were in bad shape. What a mistake... I normally frequent the same nail salon in Encinitas and thought for once about trying something new. In an effort to do so, I picked the absolute worst alternative in Paint Nail Bar. After looking at reviews and other photos on Yelp, I figured this cute salon deserved a visit. The interior looked inviting and professional, and the prices seemed to reflect what I expected to be quality services. And yes, while the salon is cute, that's not enough of a reason for me to ever go back. The first red flag was when I called to schedule a gel manicure and standard pedicure. I vocalized what I wanted to do with my nails and asked whether or not the little extra silver foil I wanted on a couple nails would be considered 'simple nail art' for which they require an additional charge. The woman I spoke with over the phone told me it wasn't and that nail art was considered anything that had to be painted on. Of course, I asked again to confirm at my appointment and got a completely different answer. While this was a bit annoying, I thought "fine, I'll splurge a little this time to get the look I want." When it came to the manicure, things seemed to be going well. My nail techs were nice and easy to talk to, albeit very chatty. But I wasn't sitting there silently uncomfortable so it was fine. It wasn't until that same evening -- only 2 hours later when two bubbles formed under the gel on one of my nails that subsequently popped and turned into two round chips. Then, by the next morning I found three of my other nails had already begun to chip, and one nail chipped so bad part of my nail broke off! I have never before had a gel manicure chip so immediately. Okay, this sucks but they'll probably fix it... I called the next morning to ask if I could come in to get them fixed. Not sure who exactly I spoke to on the phone about it but they were kind and apologetic and set me up with an appointment the following day. I even got an automated text confirming the appointment date and time. When I showed up they told me they had no appointment for me on the books, despite me showing them my confirmation text, because apparently someone had cancelled it that day but didn't contact me about it. I was asked if I could sit around and wait for an hour or hour and a half, which I had no time for and defeated the purpose of the appointment. I knew I couldn't return on the coming Monday as my work hours conflicted with the salon hours, so I requested a refund for the manicure. The woman working the front desk that day wasn't authorized to give me one and took down my information to have the owner call me about it on Monday. Monday rolls around and so far no call... I took it upon myself to proactively call them thinking maybe that little sticky note she wrote my name and number on got misplaced. The owner answered but almost immediately shrugged me off the phone telling me she'd call me back in 24-48 hours. I asked since she already had me on the phone if we could chat, but was told she was too busy juggling too much and didn't have time to talk about it right now. If that's the case though, why would you answer in the first place? Another two days later I finally got a call back and was told the could not give me a refund but would comp me for a new manicure instead. I accepted, hoping my initial experience was a fluke and that my next manicure would be better. About a month later I went back for my manicure in preparation for a special occasion. Things seemed to be going well. The manicure looked nice and my stylist was very kind and easy to talk to. I was hopeful this one would last longer than the first. While I didn't have immediate issues, I already saw chips within the first 3 days. I'm a corporate employee who works at a desk all day, it's not like I'm doing anything rough with my hands. I've never had gel manicures that were so poor quality that didn't last AT LEAST a week before chipping. From the poor quality (whether it's the nail polish itself, the application, whatever...) to the poor customer service, I will never return to this salon and have warned many of my friends to stay away! read more

The salon is well maintained with order and cleanliness. They are well organized with checking clients in and out and the vibe is very pleasant. The salon is artfully decorated with lovely framed art photos on the walls and they feature local artist's jewelry and some clothing. I highly recommend Riley who is very kind and sweet; she does a great job with manicures and pedicures. I have very ticklish feet and I would rarely get pedicures for that reason but her methods work perfectly and I don't tense up at all while she is smoothing the skin. She is the best! read more

I wanted to love this place, such great reviews. Convinced my husband to go with me for a spa like treat before our big trip. My technician was very efficient, felt more clinical, less spa like, my husband got what could only have been a rookie..didn't trim nails well, didn't massage well, spilled wax all over the floor. The beverage during the appointment was a nice touch but for the price, definitely expected more 'lux'. There are plenty of other places that perform equally well that charge much less. read more

Beautiful salon and everyone was beyond nice, but unfortunately i had to go home and spend 45 minutes reshaping my nails myself. Then, to make matters worse (and this is something that has never happened to me before with many years / types of fake nails from press-on to professional) I lit a candle with my nail out of the way as always, and it somehow managed to catch on fire and melted down my nail and onto my finger. Again, not sure what went wrong but between this, having to fix my nails myself, and a super lumpy paint job (the top coat doesn't even cover all of the nails, and the french is super thick despite my reference photo) I don't think I will be back. :( I did ask for my nails to be changed to my liking before leaving, but after multiple times and an hour over my original appointment time (for a normal french), I had to leave to be able to make a different appointment read more

Paint nail bar provides a consistent, quality experience. I've been going here since right before covid. First off, the place is clean, sanitized and smells nice. It doesn't smell like toxic fumes! They put care into their selection of products. The pedicure chairs are comfortable and are not the typical massage chair. I love the fun drinks they offer too (ask for their seasonal mimosa!). It's super easy to make an appointment online. Their technicians are talented, friendly and detailed. Pricing is reasonable too. They offer a variety of other services too, which I have yet to try. I've had regular polish, gel and dazzle dry. I'm now a huge fan of dazzle dry polish as it dries quick and lasts me almost an entire month on my hands and even longer on my toes. I just wish their membership discount had one for dazzle dry! Parking is a breeze in this shopping center, too. Bring cash for tips. Have fun! read more

Her team is wonderful - I particularly love Taylor who is absolutely meticulous (and sweet!). For some this may be a little more pricy than your normal, but I'm finding that I get what I pay for. I'm new to California and looking for a good nail place. I went in and was told they were busy and to come back later, which was fine. I showed them my nails and asked for a similar mani without UV lamps. I was told it would take a half hour to soak off by the gal at the front desk. She gave me a price list, decided and came back at 2 pm. I asked for the $42 gel manicure. it looked good inside, though I did ask for some more filing, to make them even. when I went to pay, the owner said '$ 73. I asked why and she said '$30 to soak off my old and a dollar extra for my polish color.'. I was Never told this by the front desk. and the gal even came over when I was being worked on. I had to be at another appointment shortly after, so I paid and left. While sitting at the light, I noticed almost all my nails were a different length and shape! I pulled out my file and smoother from my purse and got to work reshaping every nail. The polish looks one week old, not colored down to the tips, and it's only a day old. I feel very saddened to write this review because the owner was nothing but nice to me. She greeted me and had lovely conversation but I am writing this review to discuss a few things that disappointed me. I walked in with poorly done nails from a previous salon trip elsewhere. My nail tech gave me good tips and advice but kept laughing at how bad my nails were. Rather than trying to make me feel better about how bad they were, she was not reassuring at all and could only talk about how terrible they looked. I know she was in disbelief but meanwhile I was sitting there feeling really bad about myself and she could not let it go. She did not have a very upbeat personality and seemed annoyed to have to fix my nails. She spoke as though she was very professional but despite having bad nails to begin with, they did not turn out great as what she said she would do. The next day, four corners chipped off just overnight during my sleep. And today, half of one finger' s gel ripped just from opening a box. I know gel is not that strong but I have never had it rip off with such ease. Lastly, there are one too many bubbles in the gel that I can't seem to get over. Nevertheless, I was in a good mood walking in the salon, hoping to get a mistake fixed, and I walked out almost in tears until I got in my car and let it all out. read more
