I was going to walk along the Ala Wai, but I decided to go over on the Kapiolani side and walk that way. He apologized for the wait, but it gave me time to look at the scones. I ordered their signature Honey Cinnamon latte. This was amazing! Their coffee beans are excellent! I heard great things about their Portuguese sausage, cheese and green onion scones. I tried one and thought it was okay, just not my style. I can see why it's very popular with my friends who live close by and swear by it..I think the portion is small but they do warm it up for you. Although the cafe is small, only about 4 or 5 tables, several were occupied and a couple people were working on laptops so they must have free Wifi. I also spotted a restroom. I ordered the Italian caramel macchiato, hot and it was delicious. I think it would also be good iced. My friend got an Earl Grey iced tea and we both bought scones. I don't remember what I got, but I ate every bit of it. There were lots of paintings on the walls which made it almost like a small gallery. I asked the woman working and she said the artists included the mother of the owner as well as other people they knew. Their Guava Pitaya smoothie has to be one of the best smoothies I've had even on the mainland! When we arrived to Oahu, we went to Ono and stumbled across Pai Cafe and it was so good. I got the Blueberry Acai and my girlfriend got the Guava Pitaya. Both were very good but the Guava Pitaya was so refreshing and delicious. I don't know what's so magical about this smoothie but we are still talking about it post-Oahu. Parking is a bit limited and there's a little bit of seating inside with chairs outside. I had excellent service here! I was waiting for dumpling factory to open and was having trouble with the parking. I decided to have a coffee while I waited but was still having trouble with the parking. The cashier was so nice and kind. She helped me get on the right registration page and then rang me up. I chose the Hawaiian Latte with coconut and Mac nut flavors. It was delicious and at the last moment I added a chocolate chip cookie which was also good. I noticed a couple next to me with one açaí bowl and one pitaya bowl so they have quite a few options here. The parking situation is strange because you need to go online and give your license plate number, phone number and email address which I think is excessive but at least you get two free hours. Don't scan the parking sign outside of the shop, scan the one on the inside for the free parking. I visited the place before going on the Diamond Head Crater hike. Ordered Flat White ($4.75). The atmosphere was great, and the tasteful pictures were on the wall. So glad we stumbled upon this cute little cafe. We tried at least 6 different places while in Oahu and this one was by far our favorite. We were always greeted and everyone was very nice and helpful. We even brought beans home with us. Also, the cold foam was 10/10 and they made our drinks less sweet as we don't like super sweet drinks. We came here at least 4/5 times while on the island. I saw that there was a "new" (not really new but new to me) cafe from a friend's IG story since the last time I've visited. I went to check it out! It's located in the lot that had been vacate for years next to Ono Seafood. Glad to see that there was a new structure there now! It's next to Udon Gama-Dashi. There's a small parking lot for customer parking in the plaza. I decided to try one of their signature drinks - Velvet Cream Cold Brew. I was quite excited to try it out! There was a lot of velvet cream on top of the cold brew but was covered by the cup lid with no mouth opening to allow me to drink the cold foam with the cold brew. Boooo. When I took a sip of the cold brew without the foam, it had a weird sourness to it... tolerable but caught me off guard. I've never had sour cold brew before - maybe it was the coffee they used? I was unsure how I felt about the coffee itself. The velvet cream on top, however, was VERY good. It wasn't too sweet and added flavor to the weird sour cold brew coffee. Really glad that there was a cold foam topping. Based off just that one drink, my first impression of the cafe was quite low. However, I do want to try their other signatures to see if it was just an off day when I went as my friends really liked their other drinks. read more

I already sent two of my friends here because THE COFFEE WAS SO GOOD!! Wasnt sure what to get but when I explained my craving for something creamy and slightly sweet, Micah recommended me the velvet cold brew. When I learned the cold foam was whipped for 20 minutes it was a no brainer. I loved it and had to go back the next day and get for my parents LOL They are super reasonable too! $5 for regular $5.75 for a large. Finally got to try this place after having it bookmarked for months. I ordered the honey rose matcha latte and blueberry scone. I was asked if I wanted the scone warmed up and decided to do that. There is some seating and a bathroom which is nice but I took it to go since we were heading to the beach. The matcha latte was really smooth. It wasn't strong or really sweet. The blueberry scone was good, however, while I was eating it I could smell that my blueberry scone had been touched maybe by one of the other scone flavors so it smelt a little funny. Drinks came out fast, staff were really friendly, plenty of parking (given other businesses weren't open yet) but parking stalls are pretty small. Good selection of coffee and teas, and acai bowls. I came here to meet up with a friend around 1pm on a Thursday. The parking lot is pretty small, so I was super lucky to get a stall. They also close at 2pm, so I was worried they weren't gonna have much food left. To my surprise, there were three different types of scones left, and I decided to get a savory one with bacon, chives, and cheddar. They warmed it up, and it was so flavorful and delicious! Pai Cafe deserves an "honorable mention" on my recommended cafes in Hawai'i list. As many of you may know, I used to be a batista in Hawai'i before Starbucks arrived, yes, I'm old, but I've also traveled the world and once lived, very briefly, in the home state of Starbucks. I absolutely abhor the company for SO many reasons and I think as people who love the aina, especially when in Hawai'i, it would benefit everyone to avoid them. So Pai Cafe may not have specspectacular ocean or mountain views, but it's very close to both mountains, such as Diamond Head, and beaches, Waikiki. And with the limited indoor and outdoor seating, I recommend taking your drinks and food to go anyway. And here's the main reason why, everything is so picnic and environmentally friendly! If you love matcha and/or coffee, then this is your stop! They have creative specialty drinks for both! They also have acai bowls and tasty scones, perfect for eating on the beach! Parking is also limited and shared with a couple other businesses just do yourself a favor and don't try to take a left turn from Kapahulu into this parking lot. read more

Came across this place while driving around town and when we checked their menu, their signature coffees sounded interesting so we decided to give them a try. We decided to get their Hawaiian latte and their velvet cream cold brew. Their Hawaiian latte was very nutty and light while their cold brew was very creamy with a stronger coffee taste. The cold brew was very similar to Starbucks cold brew but this place is better imo. I don't think there was anything too special about their espresso, however, I think the flavors of the coffees we got were very unique and they both tasted pretty good. I'd say their coffees were worth trying! Pastries also looked amazing, definitely have to try it next time we come back. Their service was also really great!
