Brian's Heating & Air Conditioning - Aprilaire 500 humidifier installation quote

He was professional and arrived on time. However, when I got a quote to install a Nest thermostat it was $200 for maybe 20 minutes of work. I got a quote (attached) for Aprilaire 500 bypass Humidifier installed to replace an existing one that's failing and I was told the unit is worth $600 and it would be $1170.00 to install (which included a 5% discount if I bought a service agreement with them). I said it seemed a little high so I got more quotes. So far two reputable places quoted $550 and $425 installed and the unit is $230 at most online. Update: so my Aprilaire 500 humidifier was installed by Green Air Care and everything was great with them (see review). They even fixed a couple quirks with my system. Per Brian's Heating & A/C's request I did call Brian's to see why their quotes were so high but they were unavailable so I asked for an email response. If their response email makes sense this may be updated but $600-900 an hour for labor seems really high to me. As with all large projects I'd recommend getting multiple quotes if time allows but the quotes I received from this business were a little outrageous in my opinion.

They came out twice to review the job to figure out the right way to install the internal parts so the two units would be in the ceiling. It was incredible how they did this. We had two other HVAC company's quote on this job, they didn't come close to the perfect set-up as what Brian's did. We had a small issue afterwords, but they came back and corrected it with absolutely no problem. I HIGHLY recommend this company for any HVAC work needed.

So far two fantastic experiences. First one they spent a couple hours trying to diagnose my…read morefurnace acting up. Turns out it was my air filter being too restrictive. Tried to tune the furnace anyway to accommodate it, which was actually kind of fun to watch all the different ways it could be done. No other HVAC technician I've ever worked with before has done that. A/C maintenance went great too. First company I've ever hired that didn't try to sell me an entirely new unit just due to a faulty capacitor. Even gave me the model number of the capacitor to replace if I want to save money and do it myself (I'm reasonably handy so it's something I'd probably do). I'll be using them for as long as they give great service!

AC died in the middle of the night. They came out the next morning and said my unit was too old…read morerepair (just over 20 years old), while ripping out something from the power box and seemingly breaking a component in there. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.

Stay away from this business! My entire cooling and heating system was left in an inoperable state…read more I called for a diagnostic of the air conditioner today because cool air isn't coming from the vents. I was told the diagnostic would cost $149. I asked to be informed of any repairs that had to be done. Technician checked the system and recommended replacing unit. We discussed replacement unit and cost. I was ready to pay deposit. In the next 10 minutes I was told that the model I selected is old and not available. New model costs $1000 more. I asked for a proposal to decide later. Technician told me that the visit costs $396. He said that he fixed air conditioner that was not working. He never told me that he is fixing anything. Through our the visit it looked like he was figuring out the problem. I talked to the owner and we agreed that any repairs that were done will be undone so that I do not have to pay for repairs. Then the technician removed all the wires from the board making both heat and fan unusable. He did not just undo the "repairs", but made entire system unusable including fan and heat which were working before his visit. See the photos to show what was done!

Reply to 2 reactions from Harmonic on my 1 star review…read more 1. A. & K. claimed A. fixed my heater Tuesday; lie. Bad customer service. Harmonic deserves 1 star, but all the starts below 5 are NOT indicated on the Google graphic of the numbers of review stars 1-4: false. 2. I never promised a review pull-down for a discount. My husband & I have better things to do than having an "agenda" as Harmonic accused. My husband was on a business trip. 3. I never called for an emergency repair. I did not switch from repair to cleaning & maintenance. I asked A. if C & M was possible afterward, unaware of 2 more with no heat. Harmonic called me "selfish" for this. 4. Any possibility A. and K. have unconscious biases towards people like me? They accused us of "manipulating" what? To save a few hundred bucks, while we spent in the tens of thousands at Harmonic's better former (aquired) company) you imagined up? 5. How could Harmonic accuse me of lying about my pain. Because I was able to and had to carry my 10 lb dog for a short moment because of her barkin? Why do I even have to explain my chronic severe back pain and mostly failed back surgeries and weak immune system? 6. I had no "agenda," but getting my heate fixed. I am not playing any "game" as accused. I am standing up for myself. 7. K.'s statistics on the number of my Goole reviews are false. 8. A. & K. are the ones who were "aggressive, harsh, unethical, disrespectful, and manipulative." Stop projecting and gaslighting. I wish I would remember to record conversations when I am alone with a person like A. Why did K pull down his absurd replies on Google?
